"Where brilliance is good and madness is better..."
Helovia Info
Helovia opened in February 2012! We are an active fantasy equine RPG
Where once the world narrowed into naught but gray dust and desolation, the gods called for life. Wielding the elements of fire and light, dark and wind, earth and water, spark and time, they have created Helovia. The realm is set within the mythical globe of Loorien, a planet rich with all variety of creatures and blessed with all manner of magic. Originally populated by nomadic, tribal characters, they've since grown into massive empires saturated with culture and history. Separated into four distinct segments of Helovia, called "The Regions," each band of horse strong enough and capable enough, took up the power and responsibility of leadership. Unicorns, old, wise and mysterious, took to the north, hidden in forests of mists and shadows and rarely making themselves known beyond their cliffs of the World's Edge. Equines, vast, organized and militaristic, split into two, one group went north to the Windtossed Foothills and the other group went south to the Dragon's Throat. Pegasus remained nomadic, making their homes in various parts of The Wilds in a migratory manner. For many generations, the land was peaceful and calm, but peace was never the way of the gods. With a clash of argument, war and bloodshed massacred Helovia, and in the aftermath, the realm was eerily quiet. Now, as newcomers sweep into this land, they are met with the lingering bitterness of the gods and the struggle to reclaim what was lost. Nothing remains safe or certain while sorcerers and soldiers alike brood and bide their time for revenge, honor and glory.

Only the herdlands have a source of light, but lamp-trees with glowing leaves and branches sporadically line the popular roads and paths from place to place.
Doppleganger Plot ☼ - 6/20/13 - The God of Time is still struggling to close the rift though which the dopplegangers have come. He has requested that his brothers and sister assist in closing this hole, but without knowing why it opened, the task is proving difficult. Magic still remains faulty and hard to control, but the herdlands continue to be places of refuge for those who are fortunate enough to call these lands home.
ORANGEMOON cools off the lands with a a viscious force. Colder than normal, a sign of things to come during Frostfall, Helovia is bathed in a rich tropical lushness - albiet a cold one. The coastlines of the Dragon's Throat are pelted constantly by tidal waves, and the desert climate is humid but chilly. Ice begins to form early in the Aurora Basin leaving the winding trails slick and dangerous. The mists of the World's Edge coat everything in a glistening crystalline shine which encourages mould to grow everywhere. The Spectral Marsh is the only area which remains fertile, blissfully temperature and lush.

Character of the Month for
June, 2017
WEAVER, Corporal of the Aurora Basin, is a relatively recent addition to Helovia and has taken it by storm. Branded with the seal of Death on her chest, intrigue and interest follow both her past and present. Though she is assuredly beautiful, her sometimes sharp personality reveals that there is more to this uni-peg hybrid than meets the eye. Proving herself able on the battlefield in the Basin’s warrior ranks, we can’t wait to see her test her mettle against the looming Kaos happenings! Congratulations!

It was not the first time she stood there, staring at the Wall. Ever since she first saw it as a young foal, the carvings and base relief's had enthralled her, from the masterly craftsmanship to the tales they told. But lately, her attention had been drawn not so much to the artwork as to the more scholarly significance of the wall, the pictographs that seemed to imply more detailed knowledge than the illustrious scenes could convey.
She did get the overall message; how the gods had formed the world and each picked a land for themselves to govern, and how one of the four refrained from choosing one and left for the stars. That far it was all good, she got it. But if she could just figure out the meaning of the smaller symbols, Erthë thought there had to be more to discover; details previously hidden, perhaps something that could help them in times to come.
For many hours she had stared fixedly at the imagery, comparing what she saw to what she knew and had learned over time, sometimes speaking aloud to herself as if hearing her own reasoning might somehow bring deeper understanding. Sometimes, when frustration set in and her patience no longer allowed her to remain in place she took to roaming the tunnels in search for more etchings, in case something had been displaced or just lost over the years since the opening of these caves.
"What is it that I'm missing..." she muttered to herself one evening, as she once more found herself staring at the wall. On the surface it was growing dark already, and rain poured from the sky, but the young philosopher knew nothing of this; she had been down in the tunnels for two days already, and had reached a level of frustration that brought her to speak to the wall, as if it might actually respond.
"Come on, speak to me... I know there must be something..."
Or maybe she was just stupid. That was a definite possibility, though the girl hoped it untrue. Not a genius for sure, but... she did not wish to be stupid. And decidedly not ignorant...

Erthe's voice carries and bounces through the moist walls of the caves. Normally Isopia would have let the girl be, but two thoughts immediately pressed inwards on ehr mind as soon as she recognized the cadence of the voice and match it to its owner. The first thought was we are now in the same herd, followed quickly be, I should be nice. This second thought was extremely uncharacteristic, but after what had happened with Alysanne and Tembovu, Isopia was making a marked effort to try and be ... well, normal.
Well, she wanted to seem normal anyways. There was likely not much she could do to actually change the way she was, but perhaps she could alter how others saw her ...
And so the demi-goddess followed the echoeing remains of Erthe's words until the icy woman came into view.
"Hello again." Isopia said. What she wanted to say was, these walls do not speak, but she bit her tongue and simply offered a rough and ready attempt at a greeting. On her back, Hubris chuckled and pet her withers, obviously enjoying how uncomfortable normal behavior was making her.

Voices echo in the caverns, bouncing from room to room with slowly diminishing vibrancy. Black ears twitch in the darkness of an inner cubbyhole, stirred by a hint of familiarity in the reverberations tone. The old stallion drags himself to his feet, head lifting and turning, following the sound of conversation like an unraveled ball of yarn through the maze of stone. His body clicks and snaps, joints and tendons complaining, realigning, though the racket of his movement quiets after only a moment, the geothermal warmth of the stone around him temporarily soothing his chronic arthritis.
At first he relies on his companion to guide him around turns and through narrow doorways, the young python sharing his experience of thermal mapping as best he can with the old stallion, though the images he sees don’t seem to line up correctly with what the stallion sees, perhaps because of the different positioning of their eyes on their heads, the differences in visual acuity, or perhaps through some inability to fully process information garnered through a sense that one of them doesn’t physically have. So it’s with a series of mental cues and the snakes dragging himself over one side or the other of the stallions face that they safety navigate the lightless labyrinth, eventually entering the upper levels with their eternally burning fire pits and intermittent openings to the surface to increase visibility.
He spots the larger mare first, Isopia, whom he'd met while exploring the glass tunnel on the shores of Helovia back in Frostfall. The tawny, brown, and bronze of her coat almost blends in with the earth and stone around them, her silhouette completely blocking the smaller filly from his sight. "Hello again." He rumbles mildly, wondering what curiosity might have drawn her here.
"Talk."
