Arakh marvels at the yeti's dextrous fingers, which poke the swinging eyeball. He tries to picture what it must be like to have such odd, soft appendages instead of hard, unyielding hooves. It would certainly be useful! To be able to grab and hold instead of bite and trample... Tho and Esi's interaction goes well, it seems, with his sister observing the tribrid's clean colours. Arakh smiles softly, enjoying this new bond of family and hoping that the duo can forge a new relationship from this chance meeting. His attention soon turns back to the yeti as it announces that it is hungry, and his brow furrows as he tries to decide what to do. He doesn't know what yetis eat, but he has already been offered meat and fish by Theo and a large woman, so he decides to try something different. A beat of his wings takes him into the shrub that pokes through the snow and he finds a nest complete with three pale bird eggs, obviously left by a ground-dwelling bird of some sort. Carefully holding the nest in his mouth, he glides back down and places it in front of the yeti. "Arakh give eggs," he says, and eyeballs the true prize on top of the creature. "Yeti seems to like them." In other words, swap yours for mine. _____ Arakh gives three bird eggs in a nest. Arakh is seeking a griffin. [one refusal] |

we walk a lonely road beneath the fire of a thousand suns
Now more than ever the Fire Dancer misses her shadow friend. The kitsune is characterized by his endless optimism, his boundless enthusiasm, and most critically, his uncanny ability to find food. No matter the setting or situation, Natraj is always able to make a feast for himself, scouring and scrounging until he builds a feast large enough to satiate his indomitable appetite. If her brother has one vice it is his limitless gluttony; if he has one remarkable skill, it is his scavenging skill.Alas, however, for the copper child- she is painfully different from her vulpine kin, in this way much as in any other. The Yeti is pleased by the crown, it seems, though his pleasure in her is indistinguishable from that he feels for anyone else, and the child wilts slightly beneath this easily meted praise, her resolve crumbling in the face of this new challenge. What is she to find food for a beast? She, equine, who feeds off grass - what does she know of hunting, of feasts? A dragon swoops in with some strange, burnt delicacy; a boy brings a bird nest, and the girl winces at the thought crunching down on fragile eggs, of shell and bone prodding sensitive gums. Yes, others have deposited fauna, but one thing the Yeti does not have is flora. Even Natraj, predator that he is, enjoys some fruit with his snakes and grub - and to Tandavi the Yeti resembles bear more than any other beast, a creature she knows to be fond of berries. Long neck arches, dark eyes eager as she seeks something in the grey expanse- there, not too far, is a dense patch of bearberry and crowberry. Bearberries, the girl knows, have more medicinal properties than nutritional ones - Natraj once tried to eat some and wound up nauseous for the better part of the day. But crowberry, by her brother's report, is a tasty bush. Firedancer brings back a bough laden with berries, adding hearth moss to the mix for good measure. She peers at the yeti through curious eyes. "Do you prefer plant or animal?" dark voice asks inquisitively, her ears alert for any response. "I have brought you berries, to supplement the meat, and hearth moss to warm your belly when your feast is done." -------------------------------- Seeks a dragon Refusal 1 Refusal 2 Refusal 3 |

Blue and scarlet eyes watched the yeti look at each crown. He felt uneasy as he watched the creature, something seemed off. He glanced at everyone else quietly as he waited for the yeti to speak again. 'Please you? Thinks he is the fucking king of everything because he has an egg.' His eyes rolled in aggravation but he remand still waiting for their next task. A great growl rolled from the creature's belly and the stallion tensed. He was sure this was it, sure the blood stained beast would attack. He pictured his nasty claw tipped hands reaching out and grabbing the closest foal.
Instead the greedy thing asked for a snack. What were they servants? 'Jeeves, fetch me the caviar. Be sure you bring it on the silver platter this time!' His eyes rolled once more, but he stood still watching the others gather stuff. One actually brought back berries, and it took all he had not to laugh at the mare. Could she not see the dried blood on his white hair. Before he could pull a face the stud turned to find his own 'offering'.
He turned the opposite way he had traveled earlier when looking for stuff to make a crown. He was sure deer wouldn't travel where their comrade had been slain. So he searched sniffing the wind as he did so. The sweet stench of death touched his sensitive nostrils. He moved into a smooth canter heading for the smell. He found a half eaten stag laying with his eyes wide and glazed. Snorting he moved to the head and carefully grabbed an antler in his mouth.
He drug the carcass passed the gathered horses his eyes glittering darkly as he strode right up the the beast. He laid the meat right at the creature's feet. He lifted his head boldly and glared at the beast before stepping away. 'Sun God please see that the buck I have offered rests in peace.' He returned to his duty and stood firmly glaring at the Yeti defiantly.

I AM IRON AND I FORGE MYSELF
First a crown to assuage the Yeti’s ego, then a snack to fill his belly; part of her worries that the fuzzy white giant will want sex next, in order to relieve his loins. Head, gut, pelvis. Which is a terrifying thought, and something she wants no part of. They all scatter, and some with companions let their friends do the hard work. Wessex can’t help but roll her eyes at the whole scenario. They, who already have one animal friend, are greedy enough to seek another whilst those of them who have none try to gain companionship.
At least this task is easier. The large mare pivots purposefully on her hindquarters, heading straight back to the carcass from which she scavenged the antlers. The elk’s innards are already eaten, the rest of him in the process of dethawing. It smells a little funky, too. But she can’t imagine that the Yeti is that particular about what he eats, so long as it’s meat. With a stiff leg firmly grasped between her teeth, Wessex hauls the body back to the group. It seems she’s not the only one who found a dead creature in the snow and ice, but Wessex is not dismayed at this peculiar coincidence. At least the stallion who brought the other frozen stag didn’t go stealing her find - there would have been blows if he’d tried to do that. Perhaps, she mused, there was a rather old and forgetful (aging together) pack of wolves roaming these mountains, or a snow leopard interrupted several times in the middle of dinner.
Whatever the case, she spits her offering out before the Yeti, running her tongue over her teeth to dislodge any stray hairs, and then turns back to rejoin the group - which seems to have grown noticeably smaller. Maybe the ones who left the fools to their tasks were the smart ones, for only one could win the prize.
Well. No matter, that is often the way of life. Bring on whatever comes next.

Back when we were young and now we’re up here on another level."
Instead she simply waited in silence as he looked over each of the crowns, waiting for the next task. No doubt it would also be a waste of time, something that would test her patience. The again, watching him play with each of the crowns was as boring as it was insulting. He was playing with those gathered, he must be. The yeti had to be aware that they were not here to help him.
“These please me, perhaps you can help me with replacing the other things I have lost.” Yes, no doubt he'd like to keep them all. Managing to not sigh with annoyance she waited to hear the rest of his words, wondering if he was going to send them out to collect more items. She was not sure what else he'd like, the crown request had been most unexpected.
Yet before he could ask for more items his stomach rumbled then, it was a loud and obnoxious sound. The pale dove blinked in slight shock (and offence) at the sound, the yeti placed one hand over his stomach and patted it lightly, as if to reassure it. Unable to suppress the feeling nausea rolled through her, twisting her stomach. His words unsettled her.
A snack? What the hell did that mean? Did he eat rabbits, bark, stones or horses? Oh man, was he expecting them to sacrifice one of those gathered? Surely the one he'd just yelled at was the most likely option. The pale mare frowned at the boy he'd yelled at before noticing that others were heading off to find possible food for the yeti. Clearly they hadn't been thinking about the possibility of a sacrifice. To be honest, she was a little disappointed. The disappointment was with herself for thinking such horrible thoughts. Though when faced with such an unlikely and brutish creature once would be prone to thinking of such awful things.
Turning from the yeti she also se off looking for something that she thought the yeti might like to eat. First she found a medium rock with a hollowed center that would be able to hold a different assortment of food. Finding grass was not an easy task, in fact she wasn't sure if the frozen and half dead shoots that she pulled from the ground could be classified as grass. She gently laid the grass upon the rock in any case. Next she found some berries, Amelanchier Alnifolia to be exact, from her (although limited) training as a healer she knew they were not poisonous despite the rather dark blue colouring. Adding the berries to the grass she began to look for meat. A snow hare was slumbering beneath a rock, the pale dove mulled over the thought of killing something so innocent. She did not like it at all, sensitive she was not but a healer she was. She saved lives, she did not take them. Peering closer at the creature she realised it was not long dead, the winter had taken it's life. It was fresh enough to still be able to eat. Turning away from the rock with the dead creature between her teeth she pondered what else may fill the beast's belly when an idea came to her. Filling the rock with snow she watched as it slowly melted into a juice, next she found more wild berries, Caper, some bearberries to add a little chew to the broth with Chenopodium Capitatum and Che for flavour. She was positive they weren't poisonous. Crushing the berries in the rock-bowl she made a sort of healthy juice snack for the yeti, then she tore into the rabbit, removing the meat from it's bones and added that to the juice and made a kind of restorative and filling broth.
She was pretty happy with the broth. Carefully pushing the bowl along with her nose (glad that she'd not traveled too far) she arrived back in front of the yeti without so much as a smile. Most had brought meats or berries which made her glad she'd thought to add them together and present a much more rounded food. Picking up the rock-bowl between her teeth with a grimace she held it over the boy's flaming crown, heating the waters and cooking the rabbit meat. After a few minutes she present the steaming food to the yeti. It would warm him, have some chew, cooked meat and savoury flavours. It should made a rather hearty snack.

But then her attention is pulled back to the Yeti, who is asking for another thing – a snack. What on earth is she going to bring him for a snack? Many set off with their companions and their magic to hunt. How is she, with only hooves and blunt teeth at her disposal, supposed to hunt? But he doesn’t seem like a creature that particularly wants to eat nothing but berries. That said, she knows where to find berries, so she’ll just have to see what else she can find along the way.
She leaves her little group again, wandering off to hunt down the black bearberry bushes she’s seen before. Bears seem to like those particular berries, so perhaps Yeti’s do as well? It doesn’t take her long to find the bushes again, and she breaks a few branches off, brimming with berries. It does not seem like enough though, so she keeps scouting around.
It is by sheer luck she finds the snow goose. It lies on the ground helpless, one wing splayed at an angle that clearly indicates it’s broken. The bird has some obvious wounds, and in truth, her heart breaks. But it will not live, and she does not think she can heal it. It appears too injured for her magic to be of any use. So instead, she finds a rather sharp branch, quietly adding, “Peace be with you,” as she uses the branch to cut off whatever short life the goose may have had. In the end, she knows it is a kindness to end it’s suffering, but it feels too selfish to really be a kindness.
She tucks the branches of berries in her wings to carry, and picks the bird up in her mouth and slings it across her back. As she walks back, she has to stop to adjust the bird now and again, but she manages to get back to the Yeti without too much trouble.
She finds a nice, semi-flat rock and deposits the goose on the rock. Then, she takes the branches from her wings and dislodges the berries so they surround the goose. “A snow goose with black bearberries for you,” she says simply, nodding to the Yeti and hoping it will please him. If nothing else, it certainly looks like a reasonable snack. She has no idea if he’d prefer his meat cooked or not, but she has no way of cooking it anyway. With that, she makes her way back to Bella and Yael, waiting to see what other tasks would be set before them.

“I remember Alysanne,” she says, and there is what might be the bare hint of a smile on her lips. Or perhaps it’s just imagined. Though she recalls her failure in the Threshold with Dragomir and Alysanne all too well. She would laugh at it, if she were the type to laugh at all. “I hope the Edge treats you well.” And though her voice is as deadpan and emotionless as it always is, she does mean this. Dragomir has done nothing to earn her ire.
But soon they are off to make crowns and as quickly as they finish that task, the Yeti wants more. Of course he wants more. One thing wouldn’t be enough for the prize in his horns, now would it? She might have hoped for easy, but by now, she has learned nothing here is easy. This time, he wants a snack. Of freaking course.
She sets off to the water, because it’s likely her only option of managing to get an appropriate Yeti snack. Not that she knows what an appropriate Yeti snack actually would be. Soon enough, she finds a nice body of water. There are various fish swimming about, and a handful of crustaceans. She begins to draw on her magic, making the seaweed grow and grow and grow until a collection of shrimp, a few crabs, and a handful of fish have become hopelessly tangled in the seaweed.
She wades into the water, dipping her head under to rip at the seaweed, dragging heaps of it onto the shore with her catch still tangled. It is there she waits for the creatures to suffocate, because she’s not about to kill them. The crabs hold out the longest – stupid buggers – but eventually they all lay still. She has no idea if the Yeti likes seafood, let alone ones with shells, but it’s the best she can do.
She drags her catch back to the Yeti, making sure to add enough seaweed beneath the fish and crabs so they don’t end up covered in snow and dirt. When she returns, she deposits the pile of seaweed and seafood in front of the Yeti. She detangles the fish, shrimp and crabs from their makeshift net, and places them nicely on top of the seaweed. Probably he doesn’t want to eat the seaweed, but it was there if he wanted it. If not, it made for a decent plate. “A snack,” she says, adding nothing more and retreating back to her place by Dragomir before the Yeti decided she’d make a better snack.

"I’m sure you’d be welcome there," he tells Syrena with a warm smile, remembering, too, the awkward encounter in the Threshold, but not poking fun at either of their social failures that afternoon in the process; though he soon moves away to begin the Yeti’s tasks, he adds, "perhaps there are fewer rivers, but I found great happiness in the years I lived there, before. I’m sure anyone who came to the Moon’s wood could find a place to belong there." Yet then everyone is moving, and the crowns are studiously examined, and appraised by the creature, to no definitive end, as the crafter can tell. Though a sizeable mound of crowns, circlets, and creations has amassed at the grizzly creature’s weird feet, the beast still is not appeased, claiming it needs help to gather more things. Dragomir’s brows rise slightly at this greed, wondering how many objects each horse will accrue for the Yeti before it deems its dictations complete, but goes along with the ordeal, regardless. Sure the abominable snowman could get his own lunch if he so desired, the stallion decides that the creature would rather see what sort of things a horse decided such a thing as a Yeti would like. This decision is based purely on Dragomir’s own inquisitive nature, and how he might react and do things, were he some mountain animal that had somehow had all its things stolen and replaced with a random egg. He assumes it’s not the Yeti’s egg because the Yeti has fur, and usually, only things with scales and feathers have yet-living offspring, trapped in mother crafted, tiny cubicles. What Dragomir returns to the creature with is perhaps less lavish than the elk and tossed wild squirrel salads that others offer. He notes the young man offering water to the beast with a smile, but otherwise ambles towards the creature with what he could find, considering that all killable or culled beasts in the vicinity had seemingly been claimed by the others vying for the Yeti’s egg. He had stared for a while at a gaggle of bald sparrow hatchlings, but the thought of them being crunched up in the greedy beast’s filthy teeth makes the soft hearted crafter feel weak at the knees. So, instead of any living thing whatsoever, what Dragomir accrues is a collection of wild berries and flowers, which he arranges neatly at the feet of the Yeti, when he returns, before quietly moving away, to allow others to approach. They did well. Or, most of them did. A few were silly and brought berries and flowers which were just vile things. He didn’t get as tall as he was by eating his vegetables!! The yeti gathered all of the snacks up with a swoop of his large arms, pushing them together in the most perfect of perfect piles. First, before he did anything else, he picked up his favourite - a red throated loon murdered and delivered for him. It wasn’t often that he was able to feast on birds, they were tricky little buggers to catch, and he was delighted to see that there were even more in the pile that had been offered. He threw the entire bird into his mouth at once - crunching down on it and making some very happy noises as he did so. Some of the bones were a little small, though, and a few of them caught in the Yeti’s throat - which made him cough. A spray of small bones, flesh, and feathers came flying out of his mouth as he pounded on his own chest, working out the offending bones with a series of violent coughs. Finally, the bits of bone were freed and he ceased coughing. As he had not covered his mouth when he was coughing, it was likely that those horses that were gathered had been sprayed with some unsavoury bits from that bird. But as he was now able to breathe without difficulty, all he had was the delicious taste that the loon had left in his mouth. “Yum yum yum.” The yeti wiggled a little where he sat - a giant hand groping in the pile and pulling out the fish that Matheo had brought to be his next snack. “One more thing I need.” He said, through the fish flesh in his mouth, and chomping loudly and obnoxiously as he gave the small horses his final task for them. “A pillow for me to rest my head when I go back to sleep. Something soft.” He added that last word pointedly, shaking the half-eaten fish carcass at them all to emphasize his point. And then, finally, he would choose his crown and go back to sleep with a full belly. Great job with the snacks! Isopia's was his favourite, as determined by this randomized list. The yeti's final task is that he wants a pillow, something soft to lay his head on when he goes back into hibernation! You have 72 hours to reply. Random Event |

He receives a faceful of half-chewed bird as the yeti gleefully chomps on his seemingly favourite meal, which unfortunately is not the one Arakh provided. Perhaps he's just lost a point there, but the competitive colt is not the sort to give up. He swishes his tail determinedly and listens hard as the yeti speaks again, ready to fulfill the next request to the best of his ability. A pillow. The boy's face furrows into a frown, racking his brain for a potential idea. This one will be hard - somehow he doesn't think the yeti will be satisfied with a pile of leaves like Arakh would be. He meanders away, his handsome young face screwed up in concentration as he desperately hunts for something soft enough and comfortable enough to meet the yeti's exacting standards. In this snow-covered wilderness, the options are severely limited. He considers pelts, but there's so few things big enough out here and all of them would be almost impossible to kill alone. He mooches through the snow, hopelessly devoid of ideas, until with a sickening crunch he realises he's stepped in something. Glancing down, he grimaces - it's a half-decayed elk carcass, the pelt and meat unfortunately gone and only a few organs preserved against the snow. Amongst these is a bladder, and the colt's eyes light up. Aha! He drags the crusty bladder free, noting that it's frozen from its long stint in the snow but is still whole - a couple of fire-beetles are sent towards it, enough to dry it out and make it pliable again without burning it. Holding the grisly trophy between his jaws, he creates a fire-fox to dive through the snow, melting it away and exposing some long grass beneath. After holding the fire-fox nearby for a few moments to dry out the grass, Arakh begins to use his teeth, hooves and horns to slash up great chunks of it, stuffing it into the bladder with speedy gusto. It isn't long before he has a rudimentary pillow, the bladder stuffed with grass then sealed at the top by burning it shut with the fire-fox. The boy rests his own head on it for a moment to test the softness, finds it to his approval, and carries it towards the yeti. It's quite small, but hopefully squishy enough to meet with the creature's standards. He plonks his creation in front of the yeti, grinning up and subtly glancing around to see what everybody else has done for this most difficult of tasks. "Nice and squishy. Arakh checked." He steps backwards, hope flaring in his heart. _____ Arakh finds a corpse of an elk, and stuffs the bladder with soft grass. Arakh is seeking a griffin. [one refusal] |

we walk a lonely road beneath the fire of a thousand suns
The feasts they bring are met with gusto, the great beast shoveling and spewing food as an active volcano might stone and soot. Firedancer shuts onyx eyes against the outpouring of viscera from the Yeti's lips; he coughs and chokes on an offered bird, and the girl's magic shifts within her, a need to aid even this brute rising hot within her breast. But the crisis passes; the creature is fine; and the girl settles back into an uneasy stance, wondering what else he shall demand of those assembled, the needy and greedy who so covet his prize.Something soft,, the Yeti demands. A pillow for me head. Fire Dancer frowns, rising up on slender toes to peer across the barren steppe. There is brush, to be sure, pine and moss and the first signs of flowers; she sets out, determination hardening the lines of her face, to gather these. A fallen branch is found, a great thing still rich in scent and needle, cast down in a recent storm, and the waif-like child takes it in her mouth, making it a sleigh for her future bounty. By the time she returns her branch is piled high: moss and lichen have their place, grass and the stems of flowers another. She brings the collection back to the beast, but is not satisfied with it- it doesn't look like a pillow, a bed, so much a wayward patch of wood somehow transplanted into the snow. But the copper child is a resourceful thing, and a familiar thread of magic still hangs in the air. She reaches for it, bronze and iron with the scent of rain, following its hazel trail to the hybrid mare whose offering of food was eaten first. Dark eyes narrow; she knows this woman, recognizes her from that most dismal of days, when Lace was dead and stolen from them. For a moment fury rises in her breast, and pain, and grief too deep for her to bear. She wants to accost, to harass, to demand- She inhales sharply, and the magic comes with her. If Natraj were here he would tell her to let it go, that there are more important things. If Natraj were here he would calm his sister down. Today she has to soothe herself. She sets to work. The finished product is a slight dip in the frozen ground, pushed up against an outcropping of rocks to protect it from the elements and thieves. The furrow is as long as the beast is tall, and warmed by the borrowed magic that helped her make it. At the top of it is a small incline, with a hollowed out center; Fire Dancer places moss and flowers here, a soft and fragrant place for the beast to lie his head. The rest of the bed is lined with pine, and as the girl steps back she admires her work, heart thundering in her ears as she awaits the judgment of this, the beast who holds her fate. A large bird’s nest - maybe an eagle’s - would be best, for then she could simply use the bowl shape as a natural resting place, and fill the empty part with feathers. Birds of prey don’t migrate, so the golden woman launches herself into the sky and heads back down towards the tree-tops. Hovering around the tips, she spies an empty nest, little feathers of chicks and larger feathers of adults tucked in between nest material. It’s not quite enough - but perhaps that can be remedied. Yael gingerly takes the nest and brings it back down to earth.
Ok, now for fur. Oh! The Yeti has so much fur. He has to shed like crazy. Carefully, she half-creeps, half-walks towards the Yeti and the cave, and if asked, she says, “I just need some fur, to make a very soft peellow for you,” and flashes an earnest, wide smile. While inside, she sweeps furballs together with her wings and then places it in the nest, until the pile just overflows the edge. And then, as gently as before, she nudges it towards the entrance and the rest of the makeshift pillows, leaving it there silently. No explanation needed, really. She hoped it was the last thing, because she didn’t think she could stomach watching him eat anymore. But for now, she’s glad to have the task that takes her away from the Yeti and the flying bones and meat and…
Lyanna cuts that train of thought off right there, directing her thoughts to what she could make a pillow out of instead. Thankfully, it is Birdsong and not Frostfall, because at least things were alive and growing. She sets off to find the cottongrass that she has seen before. On the way she finds some long, flat blades of grass. She rips a large pile of these from the ground and spends some time weaving them together, in and out, until they overlap one another in something of a sheet. She repeats the process until she has two sheets of grass, securing the edges together with haphazard knots of thinner grass. It’s far from perfect, but it will do nicely.
Soon the two sheets resemble a pillow, still open on one side. She keeps going, finally finding the cottongrass, and begins picking. As she goes, she stuffs the cotton into the pillow, which she has since tucked behind a wing to carry. Her neck aches from constantly craning it around, but she keeps stuffing. She uses anything she finds along the way that is soft to supplement the cottongrass, including fallen bird feathers and moss. Soon, the pillow is full and practically fluffy. Finding some more small grasses, she ties off the remaining open side and makes her way back to the group.
There’s a collection of makeshift pillows being offered to the Yeti, and she can’t help but smile a bit at how clever Helovians are. There are some brilliant ideas, including a bed. She adds her pillow to the others, nodding at the Yeti. “A pillow for your head,” she says, before retreating back to Yael and Bella.
[OOC: Lyanna makes a pillow by weaving together grasses and stuffing it with cottongrass, feathers, and moss].

I had a dream about a burning house. You were stuck inside, I couldn't get you out I lay beside you and pulled you close. And the two of us went up in smoke The sun-drenched boy pondered the Yeti's request for only a moment, before scampering off. It seemed many had the same idea as he did, for when Theo returned with a large clump of moss tucked beneath his wings, he immediately saw that a number of others were creating pillows out of almost the same substance. He frowned slightly, but knew that there wasn't any more time to go and get anything else. Theo swallowed hard, feeling defeated. He nosed the pillow made of hearth-moss towards the Yeti, a ghost of his normal boyish exuberance on his face. "This is the only place that hearth moss grows." He said, his well-educated voice trembling slightly. "A-and if you get cold up here, you can nibble on some of it, and it will warm you up." He finished, trying hard to smile through the blanket of failure he felt suddenly coating his slender shoulders. Thèo brings HEARTH MOSS which is indigenous to the area. It warms you up when you eat it! Thèo would like a rougarou! One prior refusal. |

i want to be wild, beautiful and free
The Yeti catches her attention as he lobs one of the birds into his mouth, chewing with rather disgusting noises, though she supposes those noises are indictors of pleasure to the Yeti. Not that she cares, because it sounds awful. And then, just because this is always how her luck goes, he begins coughing up bones and pounding on his chest and she is beyond thankful for the fact that she’s standing somewhat out of the group. That does not stop a few bits of bone (one with some spit covered meat still attached) from hitting her seal-gray skin and bouncing off.
A visible shudder runs through her body, but she doesn’t run away screaming. It’s tempting; oh, so tempting. But she manages to keep her feet planted where they are, and the quaking of her body to a minimum. Gross. She likes being hit by flying food debris even less than she likes being touched by any other living creature. But here she is, not dying because of it. The same way she didn’t die when Sheba plowed into her chest in a sort of hug. And she’d managed to stay there, letting the child take some comfort in the touch or whatever it is that others get out of touch. She doesn’t understand, but at least, she didn’t feel like the world was going to break open under her feet anymore when it happened.
But really, the flying food debris is just gross.
This time, he asks for a pillow. She’s tempted to go fetch that pile of seaweed and stick it in front of him as a pillow instead. But probably he’d eat her if she tried to fetch the seaweed from the pile of food in front of him. Not that she couldn’t just go get more seaweed, but if she’s thinking about this like someone else and not herself, they probably don’t want cold, slimy seaweed for a pillow. Syrena thinks it would be great, but Syrena is not the Yeti.
So she sets off trying to figure out what she can possibly find as a pillow. She’d have just brought him a rock if he hadn’t specified soft. But of course he wants soft. So she wanders, because she really has no good ideas. She wanders until she finds the Hearth Moss of the Steppe, with its’ fiery red-orange color that mimics the warmth it gives when eaten. Shame it doesn’t offer the same warmth when one sticks their head on it. Either way, it will make a great pillow, but she can’t just take back a pile of moss. She needs a way to carry it, and a way for it to stay together when the Yeti tries to use it.
So she keeps wandering toward the water, because it’s always where she goes. Also, she knows there are some nests there. She’s seen those loons that he apparently likes to eat so much nesting by the shores, their nests made from grass and moss already. So now she looks for an empty nest, and is thankfully rewarded in her search. She finds a large piece of drift wood and sticks it under the next, dragging the nest along with the wood.
On her way back, she stops to gather the hearth moss, stuffing the nest until it overflows, some of the orange moss getting left behind as she drags her makeshift pillow all the way back to the Yeti. She’s not the first to come back, and not the first to grab moss or a nest, though she seems to have put them together in her own way at least. But really, there were only so many soft things in the frozen north. And she’s not about to lie down and offer herself as a pillow.
She puts the pillow in front of the Yeti. “A soft pillow,” she says, before returning to her place far away from the Yeti. This time, she moves father still, because she is not in the mood to get hit with anymore flying food. Then she waits, hoping this is all over, and moreso, that maybe she’s done enough to claim that prize in his horns. She’s getting so tired of trying and failing.
OOC: Syrena makes a pillow out of a loon nest (made of grass and moss), stuffed with piles of Hearth Moss.
