Oh no - the Yeti is hungry. Yael’s face falls, and then she glances over at Lyanna and the filly, Bella. With teeth like that, it could only eat one thing: meat.

She… she isn’t the killing type. The cycle of life must go on for the hunters and the hunted, but to ask Yael to kill for the snow-beast was just… above and beyond what is necessary. Features crinkle into something that is a mix of despair and anger. She won’t be manipulated like that, she won’t! Her hooves will not deal death blows, nor will her teeth be whetted with the lives of simpler beings.

Unless… unless the choice is taken out of her proverbial hands. What if the Yeti doesn’t like her offering and lets it go free? Someone - someone with a meat-eating companion - is sure to bring it something far more delectable than anything a non-hunter could bring. And what could live up here? No, the real question is what sleeps in the winter? Death is better if it is unexpected, so why not offer something that is hibernating, so that the poor creature simply never wakes up from its long winter nap.

She runs through a mental list of animals she’s noted hibernating: woodchucks, some squirrels, snakes, toads, bats. Yep, that’s it. A bat. A quick check around her reveals another cave nearby, and the petite pegasus darts towards it, gaining speed in the short distance there. She propels herself into the sky and gains altitude before swooping down, into the tall cave, heading back to where the light is dim, but the faint smell of bat guano still lingers. Gingerly, she takes a sleeping bat between her teeth and lands on the cave floor again, immobile gift still oblivious to its impending doom.

The goldem mare leaves the cave and deposits the little brown bundle at the Yeti’s feet - perhaps the only living offering amongst the other pieces. She offers a quick prayer to the various Gods she’s known in her life and then silently pivots away. Without a word (disgusted both at the Yeti and herself), Yael returns to the smaller group, and waits for whatever will come next.
