"We will find her."

The great earthquake of a voice heralds the Sultan's arrival, like the first rumble of thunder before a storm. He has been following the proceedings via his dragons, ascertaining if there was a need for him to appear as well. It quickly becomes apparent when a father's conversation with his son turns to a discussion about a missing mother, which Ampere joins in on.

Volterra's marching stride brings him to a halt in front of the gathering, and his gaze travels first to Albrecht. He dips his skull in greeting, as he's on decent terms with the man he'd once rescued from a thicket of thorns - not quite a friend, but more than an acquaintance. It transpires that Saoirse, a colt whom the Indomitable has seen in and around the herd for most of his reign, is the old man's son, something which bombards Volterra's mind with all sorts of mental images that he could happily do without. Albrecht is obviously old, and the idea of him doing, well, that... Isn't he in danger of breaking a hip? How can he even get it up without causing a heart attack? And, most prudently, doesn't one's seed sour with age? Evidently not.

The dragons chuckle at these musings of their bondeds. "When you're old, I'm sure you still bed mares," is Vadir's cold assessment of the situation, and Volterra is inclined to agree. At least Albrecht is living proof that a stallion needn't give up his pleasure simply because age has bowed his back and greyed his fur.

There's more pressing matters than an old man's sex life, however, like the fact the colt's mother is missing. Absent mothers are a sensitive subject for the onyx monolith, having had his own dam stolen by none other than his predecessor as Sultan. Losing a mother so young...it is something no boy should suffer, and Volterra is determined to bring back this Sabia for the sake of her son. He turns to Ampere, addressing her directly whilst also projecting his voice so all those gathered can hear too. "We could send emissaries to the other herds, in case the mare has moved to one of them. The neutral lands will also need to be searched, so I agree that we should gather parties if your daughter's knife cannot be found." This all-action, no-nonsense leadership is what Volterra thrives on. Actually doing something feels like a blessed relief, and if that something is reuniting a colt with his mother? Even better. He turns to Albrecht and Saoirse. "Can you describe her to us?"
