Despite all their cleaning efforts, the marsh was still that: a marsh. The faintly sweet stench of rotting organic material wafted up to the airborne strangling calf. And she was fully intending to remain that way. Never would you find her tempting these black waters or investiagint the ruined spire.
And, while many were either proven right or woefully betrayed by Kaos’s appearance—the grullo calf was not perturbed by it. Perhaps some part of her odd mind was satisfied that he was as wrong as all his mismatched and asymmetrical parts. But, beyond that superficial realization, the girl’s bizarre mind was more aggrieved by the the bog than the bone beast.
At least, it was until the sister she generally avoided was bolting towards it. Her white-striped head cocked as she watched the scene unfold below her. Battle and warfare was alien to her—aside from the terrifying attack of the griffins—so she didn’t quite understand what Oizys was doing. Nor did she understand what Nyx was doing, either.
But she did fully comprenehdn the sicking snap of bone that seemed to pierce through the air and hit her square in the chest. “Mai?” Her soft squeak would be heard by none as her wings fluttered. And then she began to descend towards her family--now nearly as broken as her mind.
