---x---

A mare his red friend whispered she comes the other, dusty fox finished, echoing each other as they often did. Of course, as always, it was Inari and Ríona who had heard the stampeding girl first, alerting their madly laughing friend to the possible intrusion and yet, it was to no avail as he wasn't really paying any attention. His thoughts were inwardly focussed as he desperately banished his sorrow through painful gurgling, forcing the smile onto his lips and the cheer into his eyes. If he cried he lost, if he crumpled into a sobbing mess for what looked like on the outside no apparent reason, would he be able to piece himself back together again? Like this dragon statue made of glass, if he shattered it... How long would it take to rebuild it back to what it was? He swallowed, spluttering out another snort, letting his emotions run their course until finally the idea that a galloping girl might be heading straight for him broke through his reverie. He saw her, faintly, out of the corner of his eye hurtling towards him, a blur of white entering his peripheral vision—she might be todays saviour for his woes.

He watched, startled, as her hooves dug into the ground, every inch of her body slamming to a stop just before reaching him. Sacre never moved. His disjointed thoughts and her sudden appearance rooted him to the spot, she could have slammed into him if she hadn't have stopped herself in time so lost he had been in thought. She threw her irritated head and Sacre watched her, baffled and amused, relieved even that somebody had saved him from his downward turning thoughts. Shocked blue eyes stared back at her—a brown paint, with brown eyes and a pink nose. He was silent, gathering what was left of his wits and wove a brilliant smile onto his young face, gently shaking his head.

"It's okay, I should have been paying attention" he admitted, it wasn't like he hadn't been warned either. Inari and Ríona, however, were now too busy paying attention to their new visitor who had quite suddenly burst into their lives. Sacre, their ignorant friend, was more interested in knowing who she was "were you running from something? or just... running" he asked, looking behind her as if there might be something or somebody there.

"Should I be worried?" he asked with feigned concern, though there was a humour to his voice, a lightness to his expression as he poked his gentle curiosity at her.
