Maude had taken most of the late afternoon off, having rose extra early that morning to attend to her greenhouse duties, and the small seeds that had not yet become seedlings in her small, glass pots. Though she kept to her studies in the gardens, the filly had taken to returning home to Trewdwellan at least twice throughout the day, to make sure her precious, baby plants were receiving the proper amount of light to shade, and that the soil was suitably damp. Today, however, all these things had been crammed into the hours before the Sun had reached the third quarter of the horizon from where it rose each morning, and she had spent most of that time between her final task’s completion, and the rising of the Moon, asleep in the cool hollow beneath Trewdwellan. However, as darkness descended over the Edge, and the low laying mists of the day rose into the head high, swirling realm of mystery for which the land was renowned, the eager child awakes, and heads out towards the cliffs. Traveling at an easy lope, she is hardly weary at all when she comes upon the King and Queen, looking about with surprise, to discover she is one of the first to come. Happy to see Erthë, however, her (perhaps) over eagerness to see the Moon again lends a certain bouncy cheer to her step as she goes to stand alongside her friend, cheerfully nickering a greeting to the somewhat morose seeming Sage. “Is something wrong, Erthë?” she asks, sincerely, her light green eyes turning to meet her pale friend’s icy blues. |
