I was looking for a breath of a life A little touch of heavenly light
Letha had not traveled far from where her parents had first brought her to the World's Edge. While she could not understand the words her mother had said to her, she understood the stern knit to her mother's brow when she spoke. This was truly how Letha got through her life, not being able to hear the words that were spoken to her by her parents. She made her decisions based on the way their faces looked, and the glances they gave each other. She was not quite certain if her parents had figured out the disability the filly had developed, for even she herself did not know it was a disability. It happened so quickly after her birth that there was no way for her to know that there was another way to live than in complete silence.
Deafness was interesting for this girl, and the world, even if they did not know it.
Trotting briskly, the girl took in everything around her with wonder. Her ocean colored eyes were wide and painted with all of her youthful innocence as she looked as to what might be her home. The Hidden Falls was beautiful, but the mists that clung to this forest were something ethereal, an entirely different beast to behold. In the Hidden Falls she had never felt so captivated by every nook and cranny, so enthralled by the enticing scents and wondrous, looming trees. No, the Hidden Falls had not been this glorious. It was different--still beautiful--but something about this place made Letha believe she was destined to live here.
Perhaps this place had been made for just her.
Flicking her tail and fluttering her tiny wings, the girl continued to trot through the forest. Pushing her way past dense underbrush, the grulla girl stumbled upon the grazing mare. She stopped, standing stark still, holding her breath as she stood in the woman's midst.
How would she greet her?
Suddenly, Letha wished to be near Dragomir and Ranjiri again.
Traveling and adventure were overrated. |
