Mauja the FrostHeart
ice cold man watches earth die, eternal winter takes its reign

Of course, such a vague reason as his wasn't so enlightening as to why he was traipsing around on their ground, but it didn't seem to bother this Azzuen too much. He did wear a slightly quizzical expression though, and at his question Mauja gave a good-natured chuckle. Had circumstances been different - namely, had Azzuen not been in possession of that wide set of wings - the King guessed he would've liked this stallion. As it was... No. He often wondered how he kept his morals straight and his goals in mind when he always toed around and played nice, pretending to tolerate other species, even being so kind as to forge alliances with them - if he could masquerade such a thing, what was to stop him from forgetting the glory of his own race and becoming like the rest? Sometimes he worried about it, wondered about it, but he guessed that it lay in his heart, and as long as he followed it, he'd not forget or stray too far from his path. It was a slim comfort, but the only one he had in this life.

"You could say that," he responded dryly with the hint of a small smile. Mauja shifted closer to the warm rock wall, but the land denied him any shadow and frankly, he was getting tired of it. Maybe he should take the warrior up on his offer of the lake, just for the sake of shade and a drink before he braved this place on the way out again. He certainly wasn't inclined to make the trek back without getting something to soothe the thirst burning in his throat, and the best opportunity actually was their precious lake. Idly he wondered if he could get d'Artagnan to poison it, but that was an operation he could hardly plan while standing in front of one of their warriors. True, it'd be a lot of fun to be able to say I came up with it while talking to Azzuen, but it required a degree of multitasking he didn't want to engage in right now. Better learn what he could from this suddenly solemn warrior. Mauja tilted his head ever so slightly, showing a faint sign of confusion. He spoke reverently, as if the event saddened him, and it just didn't add up for the King. He hesitated briefly before deciding to push it a little. "Pardon me, but it seems a tad strange to speak so reverently about someone you decided to wage a war upon?" Or maybe he was just one of the few who respected his enemies and found sorrow in their fall, and grieved for their families. Mauja wasn't sure if it was a good trait or not.

“Is there anything else I can help you with, Mauja?” It felt weird to hear his name in the mouth of a Pegasus, but it was nothing he could rectify now. The FrostHeart took a single step forward, aware that this was a near-dismissal. If he had nothing more to do here, he'd probably be kindly asked to turn around and go gallivanting off back home, but to find out if the Order had been removed had only been one of the purposes he came here. Blinking in the harsh sunlight, he fed Azzuen another tidbit of why he was here.

"Actually, if you could bring me to your leader or another with the ability to broker pacts, I'd be thankful." His pale head tilted slightly again, and the sun glittered in the frost upon his horn. Did these Pegasus worship the cursed star too, or did they have more sense? Were their lands burned and dry, or did they flourish? If Azzuen brought him to the lake, the politest thing to do would be to walk with poor land-bound Mauja, and that would provide an excellent opportunity for small talk - an excellent opportunity to find out about such things. That was, unless Mauja screwed something up and made the warrior upset, or if the warrior lacked manners to begin with, or if he just flitted off to go find a leader or diplomat or whatever Pegasus had stuffed into their chain of command. Calmly the unicorn kept watching his host, knowing that his random request could be refused - so, hopefully just Mauja had been courteous enough to get a meeting, or, if denied... He'd just have to inform the Pegasus that he just slighted the Edge King.

He hoped it wouldn't come to that, though.
angels, they fell first, but I'm still here
