you were only waiting for this moment to arise.

Clementine knew she wasn’t supposed to be this far from home, but the promise of adventure kept her spindly legs pumping and drove her further from the sanctuary of the Throat. Making her escape had been no easy task - having to evade both mother and A’mal - and then having to find someone to allow her across the bridge. But she’d done it, and the excitement that pumped through her veins kept the trepidation well disguised.  Plus, she was on a mission.  She’d seen Melita leave, and was determined to find where her sister had gone because the little orange filly was convinced she’d found something amazing and she didn’t want to miss it. She didn’t want to miss anything. Clementine skipped through unfamiliar lands without batting an eye - relishing in the fact that there were so many different colors in the world and she wanted to find a way to take some of these flowers back home to mother.  Then she couldn’t possibly be mad that they’d gone on an adventure. Everyone liked presents!  She heard familiar voices not too far off, and her slightly-curled ears (not quite like her mother’s) struggled to pinpoint where they came from.  The girl abandoned all thoughts of flower arranging and sped off in the direction of the voices, hoping to catch up to them soon.  Unfortunately for Clementine, when the girl burst headlong out of the trees and onto the beach she saw…

Nothing.

The filly stood there panting, equal parts enthralled and confused, spinning around in every direction as she tried to determine just where her sister had managed to disappear to this time.  Had she figured out her wings and flown away somewhere where she couldn’t follow?  Clem pouted at the thought, stamping a pale forehoof at the thought of being so definitively separated from her twin. It was only then that the filly began to really take stock of her surroundings. She’d never seen a beach like this one. The shore of the Throat was all sand and rocks, but this was something else entirely.  Then she saw it - the strange shape protruding from the beach.  Her moment of melancholy forgotten, a small laugh escaped her lips as she broke into a run as she made her way towards the strange formation.  She had no idea what it was, but it seemed to dive beneath the waves.  And even more excitedly, the voices had returned.  With a happy squeak, the girl leapt into into the tunnel without considering caution or poise. Melita was in there - she was sure of it! But what she failed to account for is the fact that glass is slippery and baby hooves fail to find purchase on the slippery tunnel and the girl more slid down the tunnel than anything - coming to rest with her face pressed against the glass.  Her mouth popped open with awe as she tried to comprehend just what she was seeing, but she just couldn't.  It was only then that she turned to Melita and Iskra with a sheepish grin on her face. “Hi! What are you lookin’ for?”  She glanced from her sister to Iskra, who she’d literally known since birth and her eyes widened as she spotted a shadow over his shoulder - out in the endless waters “OOH! LOOK AT THAT. It looks like a rock with fins!” she said (yelled?) in utter amazement.
