WINDOW SEAT TO CHAOS OVERLOAD


"WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?"
Ampere's fury screeched across the beach with such intensity even the gulls took to their wings; birds well accustomed to the perpetual roar of the ocean.

With a swath of wingbeats and sand, the Mother of Companions had landed behind her youngest son. What had been just a passing flight in the sunset hours slowed when she spied her son, and then stopped altogether once she made sense of what dastardly deed he was engaging in. Like a hurricane she fell from the sky and turned upon the boy, seeming to forget that she was mother of him as much as the creature currently hatching free.

Already anger gnawed at the edges of her form, her outline exposed as raw electricity instead of the hard muscle of a desert-dweller. Her steps were quick as she aimed to close the gap between them, neck low and snaking forth with ready teeth as she aimed a savage bite and magic at the child's right flank; the bulk of her body heedless of the mobile mound of rocks loitering just behind him. She wanted Iskra to feel her wrath with her teeth, but the sparks she willed to move inside of him was an attempt to jerk him away from the egg, to stop this madness before it started.

All she was thinking was maybe it's not too late.
