so i listen to the    wind for an answer
Lately, Lyanna has begun to feel like a pawn in her own life. Well no, that’s not quite right, she’s beginning to think her life just isn’t her own. That all along her life has been controlled by the whims of others. Controlled by the whims of jealous rebels, the whims of Gods, the whims of everyone but herself. Sure, there’d been some decisions she’d made for herself, though very few. She’d been born a princess, she’d been forced to leave Morham, she chose Helovia because it had stripped her of everything and therefore been safe, and she’d been made Queen. She’d chosen to be a healer, and that had been the only decision in her life not dictated by someone else’s desires.

How did she stop being someone else’s pawn? She didn’t know. She wasn’t sure any of them really stopped, because how did you live in a world without outside forces? You didn’t. The outside forces just seemed bigger now. Rift Gods and stolen lands and vengeful Gods. It made her feel even smaller in all of it, even more insignificant.

Yael’s words draw Lyanna out of her thoughts, and she’s thankful for the distraction, even if it’s not really removed from the worries that plague her. At least, listening to Yael translate the words makes her feel like she might be able to do something. Like they might have some influence on the outcome of their own lives. There are sides to choose, at least. Though Lyanna’s side will always been what is best for the Edge, because with the crown on her head, she can choose no other side. She will do as they dictate.

Yael offers a translation, and the words offer little more than she might have expected. Kaos promised to offer than more than their Gods currently do, and the words on the obelisk are in line with the message he has given them. But they are words, capable of lying as Kaos has lied. As perhaps their Gods lie.  Isopia asks if it is them that Kaos is here to save, and that is a good question. Lyanna doesn’t answer for now, watching as Isopia flies up to the top to clean the letters.

Lyanna doesn’t speak until Yael finishes translating and asks her own questions. “I think it is true. But it’s vague, perhaps more like a fairy’s version of the truth. Kaos said he would not lie, but that does not mean he must be forthright. Could he restore the Rift and it’s Gods?” She doesn’t know the answer to that question, if it’s possible to restore what has already been taken and killed once. But she isn’t sure that Kaos is here to save them. She thinks there must be more to his agenda. Could be bring the rest of the other lands here, could he restore the Rift over Helovia?
