so i listen to the    wind for an answer
Soon Amaris joins them, a mare Lyanna doesn’t know well but has seen around. She doesn’t miss the slightly deeper nod given in her direction, and she still finds she can’t get used to it. Maybe more to the point, she doesn’t want to get used to it. She’s no different from anyone else just because her title changed. In the same vein though, she knows that’s not entirely true. There’s some value to being seen and recognized as a Queen, some inherent power that comes from respect.

Thankfully the topic stays where it is, on Kaos and the altar. Lyanna listens as Amaris talks about her recent experience at the Altar, and as Isopia answers her question. She’s not offended by The Mountain’s answer, of course. It sounds merely like thinking, like they are all throwing out ideas and milling them around, trying to find something that might fit. It is like putting together a puzzle, testing one piece and then the next. In truth, Lyanna knows little of the Rift and what occurred, as it was before her time. But from the little she does know, it does not necessarily sound like Helovia’s Gods were anymore right than Kaos might be.

They took and so far, Kaos has only given, though she doesn’t believe his purpose is simply to give. He must have some reason behind the giving, but she doesn’t know what that reason could be. To restore what was taken from his before seems like the most obvious, but to Isopia’s point, what purpose would that serve? But her thoughts are cut short by Kaos voice which pours out around them. Again, he cannot be seen, but she can feel him as his gaze falls on her.

But Kaos’s attention is focuses on Yael, as it should be. Lyanna listens, teal eyes turned to keep a watch on Yael, to make sure the little golden mare is alright. Though she steps back from the obelisk, she seems otherwise okay. Lyanna’s ears flick in her direction, listening to the mare’s response. She is polite, as Lyanna would expect from Yael, and in truth, she can see no reason not to be polite. He’d lied once, yes, and had created a giant bone monster, but he did tell them not to fight. She is strangely torn on what to think about him. Isopia is not wrong – they have yet to see any side of him.

Lyanna nods to encourage Yael to ask her questions, to dive in, though the mare doesn’t go farther. Lyanna only has one question, really. Simple and to the point, and she doubts he will answer it. But she asks it anyway. “What do you want from us?” Her voice is soft and kind as always, no accusation in the tone, just a question. There were more questions, of course. So many more. But this was the one that sat in her mind the most, curious what he planned for Helovia and what it meant for the second home she’d found. She did not want to start again.
