Laughter rings in his ears and the small colt recoils, his small ears falling back. A fool? The nudge rocks the colt, but he stays stiff with confusion at first. But then…the Laurelin’s golden tongue begins to work its magic. As the gold clothe falls over his back the colt feels his chest begin to swell. A son of gold. Lanky legs, strike up and the babe rises. Beside his Da he stands, his leafen starred head rising with every title placed upon his crown. Son of the wolves of the north. His heart begins to beat faster, but it is not from fear…nor does he give it notice like before, for this time it feels right. He feels for the first, pride. A small hoof stomps on the cool night earth. And true enough, he feels his bones- his strength.
When the gold picks up the bones the colt lets a small smile play, the pride, vanity, and slight obsession with the objects coming to a head. His steps closer as his Da places the objects on his head. The first felt heavy, and wobbled, but the colt’s head did not fall. The words had been too strong for that. Then the second slide on and –
Whalooah The sound of a whipped fire rushes on a small breeze and the colt see fire before him. He squeals, jerking away, and the bone horn cuffs clatter to the ground. In a panic the colt rushed back, stumbling over the gold’s hind legs and crashing to the earth. His small heart lite to life, and the white line in his eyes trembling, threatening to grow….to burn as they look over the bones now each lite with a flame at the tip, shivering in the night.
