His mother was rosen, a soft and gentle hue of warmth, and so when the red dipped child turned to him, he did not find her strange. It was her feathers he found strange, and the sparking energy which leapt from her hide, arching in the air like a dance. He wanted to investigate, to see. He wondered if they tingled, or felt warm? That streak of curiosity was taking hold of him again, but he held his ground. If he moved at all, he was scared it would be to turn away. Yet her appearance had him raptured, caught like a spider, so as long as he didn’t move at least, he stayed and let her approach. Fire tipped faux horns shake, rattling as she approached closer.

For a moment they stared at each other, and the boy lets both harks turn back, not flat, but in confusion. Had he done that right? Or was she waiting on him again. Fluff of a tail brushes his hips in the rising awkwardness he felt. What was he to do? He had never thought past hello? And she was so much bigger up close…so much..older. Finally, after an eternity she speaks, and the long slow exhale of the lad tries to hide. She even smiles! He feels the tension easing (he was too young to see the calculations rolling in her mind’s eye) and wait, can he smile too? Was that ok? Oh lord they told him about the dangers but forgot to mention how to function!

The colt smiles back though, trying to let some instinct guide him where answers were thin. “I’m Galahad.” He says his name and tries to let it ring with the power and majesty of when his Da had said it that night. A strong name for a strong colt. All will know it soon. Harks come back forward as he feels the accomplishment of his first introductions…but of god…what next?

She answers that, sort of…what does he say to her boredom? What was fun? All the small colt had come close to of that was a few kicks out and games of tag. Besides…here had seemed great. As far as he knew there wasn’t anything boring about it. Of course usually the first few days of life really aren’t boring no matter where you are. The idea that there might be more had never struck him before. He wanted to find out more though, he wanted to leave and hide…but he always wanted to keep talking. “We could find fun together?” His little heart pounded in his chest, dangerously, but without his notice of it or further accelerant it seemed steady. “Here maybe?” He might have suggested something a little more specific…if he knew anything. Did he even know what she was suggesting? Decidedly not.
