Gabriel was not brave.
He clung to the sides of either his sire, his dam, or his siblings, and this particular afternoon, it was Dragomir he haunted. His father, of course, did not mind, but Gabriel was also not apt to take it for granted. Meeting the light blue eyes of his father with a happy smile, he lifts his face to allow the straps to be tucked beneath his chin and tied; feeling it wobble as he moves, the boy is only vaguely aware it’s massively oversized.
His father’s mirthful amusement, then, sort of stings, but the child smiles regardless, his tail wobbling behind him in a foal’s manner, wondering what it is that is so funny as he follows his sire’s eyes towards the stones he’s talking about.
They had passed them on the way through; ordinary, was what Gabriel might have called them, before, but now, through the eyes of the Tigress, they seemed about the same, except for a few. Somewhat transparent, glittering things were hidden inside of them, which he definitely had not noticed on his way through.
“Whoa!” the colt exclaims, looking back at Dragomir with wonderment, “what’s that stuff inside ‘em?”
