From dirty paws and the creatures of snow

Trying his best to not react to his son’s struggle, the stallion quietly asks himself what he might do for him that he has not tried already. The splints he had created for the boy’s legs hurt too much, and, besides, the healers had all but insisted they would right themselves over time, before turning their attention to Requiem’s wing, which would not. What Dragomir did know was that coddling Gabriel, and helping him to do such simple things as walk through sand, would do very little for him in the long run.

He also knew it was painful to see someone you loved suffering, and to be unable to help them.

So, when his good natured child arrives alongside him, the crafter does his best to keep the mood light, and to focus on the task which his son has successfully made it to, on his own, rather than the struggle it had been to get here. Smiling gladly to himself that it works, the man turns his attention on the new stone Gabriel has found, looking at it for a while with furrowed brows, before picking it up, and plunking it into the shallows.

Retrieving it, fuzzy muzzle dripping with salty water, the stallion rubs it vigorously on his foreleg, revealing a myriad of small, crystal like shapes that sparkle with a vibrant, sunlit color.

Well, look at that, Gabriel, says Dragomir with a grin, meeting his son’s eyes after he returns it to the beach, and realizes what it is, you’ve struck gold!
