Since arriving in Helovia, there was still no trace of his lost twin, Solomon. Vermillion asked everyone he had encountered so far, and no one knew Solomon's name, nor did they recognize Vermillion, which surely would be an indication that they had seen his twin. Still, he had the blind hopefulness of youth, and was not discouraged. He had been recruited to The Grey by Ktulu, who not only promised to aid him in finding Solomon, but said the name of his mother, Armada, was familiar. Since that meeting, Vermillion was even more optimistic, that Solomon would be found.
Still being new to Helovia, and young, Vermillion had some serious exploring to do. Although the day was chilly, the sky was clear and bright, and he was in high spirits. Picking up a rolling canter, Vermillion traversed the fields easily, his long leonine tail flickering out behind him. The feeling of the wind rushing past him only exhilarated him more. He lowered his head, piercing the wind with his spiralled horn, and began galloping faster and faster. His eyes began to tear as the icy air caused them to water. Suddenly Vermillion felt a cramp in his hock, and slowed to a walk. His flanks heaved heavily as he tried to catch his breath, while at the same time, he half hopped along, trying to stretch the spasming muscle.
Ugh. He was out of shape. And if he was going to be apart of a mercenary group, he should probably do something about that. But was he really going to be a fighter...? He wasn't so sure. Maybe he was more suited towards Intelligence, after all, he had never fought a day in his life. Still, what could he offer Intelligence? He did know that the healer, Tor, might be able to teach him a few things.
With this in mind, Vermillion began walking again, gazing down at the ground this time, taking a special interest in the plants and flowers which were poking through the snow. Were any of these helpful to a healer? He hadn't a clue, but found looking at them interesting, all the same.  |
