But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride...
Quilyan
...he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him.

He wondered what new things he would come across in this land. Of course, they had traveled across several, and in each, there had been different rituals and customs, none of which were up to the prince's standards. He had once been royalty, and privy to all sorts of ceremonies that would put theirs to shame. It was almost embarrassing for them, a fact that he had been very quick to point out to his brother. At least, he pointed it out once they had started on their way. Erigor was the more proper of the pair; or perhaps simply the more politically correct. As such, he had been very specific in instructing Quilyan to be polite to their hosts. They hadn't a kingdom to help them anymore, the younger brother had pointed out. They couldn't be rash anymore.

Thinking of his brother seemed a sign for him to appear; from the copse somewhere behind him emerged the chestnut tobiano, his wings folded neatly in a match to his older brother's. It was odd, how similar they were, in comparison to the varying shades of their siblings. But then, they had also gotten along the best of the children, when they were together. Quilyan was quite fond of his younger brother, despite the lack of bonding as younglings. When he saw the other steed, his lobes pricked forward and he trotted towards his brother with a loud whinny to announce his approach.

"Erigor!" he exclaimed as he arrived alongside Erigor, bumping his muzzle on the stallion's shoulder in greeting. "How've you been, brother?" He was please to be reunited with his more intelligent brother, especially as they approached a new land. What would he do if he encountered a herd? He would likely run his mouth and end up banished, or battered, or perhaps even killed, depending on the herd. Sure, he was quick-witted enough with the mares, but with politics? Oh no, that was not his forte. So it was a blessing to have his brother alongside him again - surely the younger stag would keep him out of trouble.
