LEANDER

your heart is the beacon, your heart is the storm

Clouds of white curled from the draft's nostrils, his gilded frame pacing the sands of the shore with a predator's patience. Frosted wings stood half extended, tensed and closer to his body than they would be at full mast. The appendages would serve as extra balance on the malleable terrain. The beach was an ideal place for the soldiers to practice; for if they could learn to fight well on uneven ground, they would be even more steady on harder footing. Pale eyes gazed out from from beneath flaxen strands of forelock, looking for the silver form. Fighting an ally for learning purposes was not in his repertoire, and the Sultan knew it would take some resolve on his part to remain careful of maiming the new soldier. Still, he could not fight the adrenaline rising in his blond chest, nor the way his daggers itched to meet flesh once again. The ice demon that lay within him was unbeknownst to the new leader, but he was well aware of the new energy that surged within him, more cruel and cold than he could truly ever be.

"We will not fly, but you may use your wings to aid you in other ways. In battle with Unicorns, you will likely remain grounded for the most part, unless you have good opportunity to get airborne. You must learn to be as skilled as they are at fighting on the ground." Confident, serious words met the air as Leander stopped to face his opponent. Giving Levi a final smile of common understanding, he thrust himself forward into a quick lope, his thick form aiming for the boy's left side. The sea's breeze was at his back, and it hit his mahogany plumage strongly, throwing more weight into the golden's run. He let his neck outstretch, teeth baring in an ivory flash, appearing more than ready to bite as he bounded closer to the grullo's shoulder. But alas, things were not always what they appeared. At the last moment, the Sultan dove right, beating russet wings to aid the sharp turn. Heavy rear hooves flew up towards the soldier's barrel, hoping to knock the wind from him and likely leave some good bruises if they connected. Then the palomino lunged away from the younger stallion once more, putting some distance between them and ready to gauge his opponent's next move.

[ooc: This is an IC lesson spar for Levi, which will count as 1 soldier lesson for him. There will be no magic or companions used.

Setting: The Endless Blue. The sky is overcast and there is a moderate ocean breeze.

Summary: Leander speaks to Levi, then charges towards his left side at a slightly frontward angle. He poises as if aiming to bite Levi, but turns suddenly before contact and spins to buck at Levi's side/stomach.

The light breeze of the ocean's mist traveled through the air. Silently, it brushed the brute's pelt making him anxious. Leandor's presence was in front of him. He knew today, Leandor and he were going to spar. The palomino stallion was a talented soldier. His ways of technique and wisdom were probably to good for the grullo, but he needed to try. Try for his friends, his herd, and himself. He also wanted to please Leandor, for this was a favor that he was pleasing for him. Leandor's voice rang through out the blues. The water carried the sound waves across them all over and in every direction. Any creature would be able to hear his ringing tone it they were near. The grullo replyied confidently to Leandor by shaking his head slightly. "Okay Leandor, I accept the challenge of not flying.." He looked at him casually. "For, you are right I should be just as good a fighter on the ground as I am in the air. I am ready when you are." Shooting Leandor a smirk he steadied his position. His eyes lit up with excitment. He was ready for battle when Leandor was!

The lightly colored male charge towards him. Trusting towards him, Leandor aimed to bite the grullo stallion, quickly after he kicked his powerful legs towards his stomach. It was a fast strike, but luckily ,today, the brute was actually focused. Powerfully, he struck his left wing powerfully, attempting to shield himself. Leadnor's kick did hit Levi, but the block protected him from more pain. Pain, struck his side, like an electrical shot it ached making his muscles tense and burn. The brute started to become more cross. Arching his neck and standing tall, he reared in place giving a loud shriek that echoed across the waters. Racing towards Leandor, he trust his hooves towards his legs. He hoped that maybe he could try to trip him. Then quickly he whiped around and tried to slide underneath his stomach. The sand was slippery so it was easy for the black stallion to slide. Again, he attempted to raise up underneath Leandor, and lift him. Then he planned to lower his neck, which would make the palomino fall harshly to the ground. His expression looked confident, but on the inside he felt unsure of what he was doing.

LEANDER

your heart is the beacon, your heart is the storm

Satisfaction filled him as the Sultan's rear hooves met their target, though the soft of feathers clearly brushed them. It was a successful yet risky move, to defend with the wing, but one that seemed to work well for Levi. Leander made a mental note to remind the new soldier to be careful of using his wings as shields, lest he end up with one broken in battle. The thoughts of what he needed to focus on teaching were brief as he ran from his opponent, for the mind of a skilled fighter knew better than to linger on anything else when dueling, even with a less experienced foe.

He was a flash of flaxen locks and gold hide as he turn to see the silver form rushing towards him, legs slamming out to meet his own. He half-reared, pulling his forelimbs not far off the ground, but not quite quickly enough to avoid the dull ebb of pressure that was the grey's hooves connecting with his right pastern. A faint irritation pulsed up his leg, and an annoyed grunt left the LionHeart's maw. The hit would likely leave a good bruise, but was fortunately not hard enough to do any more serious damage to the vital area. The Ice Demon's magic worked strongly, shielding him from almost all of the hit's pain. Teeth flashed, this time their pearly gleam warranted by the success of the blow. Anger blossomed in his chest, rising to the surface, drawing upon the years of needless bloodshed and hatred that had made gilded stag. It was futile to fight the rage that had always fueled his calculated violence, no matter how well intentioned this had been. The silver boy was coming at him again, this time skidding fast on the slick of the sand. Dark wings pumped downwards to aid Leander as he rose again, this time rearing tall into the briny air. Then the gilded brute was slamming back down again, front legs stretched taught, two pillars of muscle and bone aimed at the chrome's sliding body with force. In his drop back towards the boy, Leander let his wings jut skywards to add more pressure in the descent. The heavy weight of his bulky draft bodice would put even more tons of weight into the blow. If his legs made contact on the boy's back, he would likely knock him over. He prepared to lose balance if the dusty brute did fall, for he would need to be careful himself not to stumble over the boy's body. Hopefully, this would serve as a lesson to the soldier that wings could be used for more than shields.

[ooc:

Summary: Leander feels his hooves connect with Levi's wing/side, before running to put distance between them. He turns to see Levi charging towards him and aiming for his legs, so he raises off of his forelimbs, but is still hit by Levi's blow to his right pastern. He falls back to all fours, then sees Levi sliding back towards him, and rears fully. Then he slams his body back down, aiming his stretched front legs for Levi's back (or any part of his body that he can hit, really).

The thrill of somewhat proving to Leandor that he was not a bad fighter, fell into his mind. Emotions that he could not control started to come out. His anger and subtleness were combined as one, but he could feel that he could possibly get out of hand soon. Leandor suddenly had fallen to the ground from Levi's strike. The darkly shaded brute's joy suddenly turned into another sharp pain. As Leandor's kick struck him in his left back leg, he took in the pain and got tripped backwards. Catching himself, he quickly landed on all of his legs. The pain was still tacked in his leg sharply. Leandor wasn't going to give the stallion pain, and not get any back. Jumping up, he ripped into a slow canter. Every inch of his body ached for more. Lightly tampering the sands, he extended his legs into an extended canter. Quickly, he was beside Leandor again. Bearing his sharp teeth, he aimed at the other stallion's neck. Hoping to bite him, and that way he might be able to have a little control of Leandor.

Quickly after his aim to grab Leandor’s neck he turned his body slightly letting his right back hoof attempt to slice Leandor’s stomach. He wasn’t trying to rip it open, but just an injury to defect him from more attacks. He trusted and kicked towards Leandor’s head. Then with a sudden stop he raged into a rear, but kept his aim away from the palomino stallion. Gripping his hooves into the ground he thrust forward towards the icy waters that lurked in front of them. A trap of mesmerizing scenery, reflected into his silvery dark flecks.

He burst into the water leaving a gigantic splash that over through the rippling waves. Soaking his body with the salty waters, he suddenly turned around to face Leandor. He snorted towards the stallion’s presence, but with a quick stride he cantered back toward Leandor. Reaching his presence once again, he circled him trying to confuse him. Then aiming for his face he spread his vulture wings that sparkled with the trickling water. Facing the Lionheart, he flicked both wings almost as hard as he could. The mesmerizing trickling water suddenly didn’t look so lovely anymore. Shooting across the air, they looked more like thousands of little bullets, icicles, knives, etc. The tiny trickles of water were very quick, but was Leandor quicker? Levi smirked towards him giving a subtle snort.

LEANDER

your heart is the beacon, your heart is the storm

A second wave of satisfaction rushed through the leader as one heavy forelimb connected with the silver's back leg. Twisting away from the stumbling Levi, hooves fell back into the cold sand, ready to launch him away from the soldier once again. The moment of weakness on the other brute's part gave him sufficient time to gain of few strides of space. Cream locks drifted behind him as continued a brisk lope parallel to the water's edge. The rush of anger still pulsed through him rhythmically, though mellowed by the absence of true pain. Despite the demon's hold, it was easier to keep his resolve without the shock of pain to remind the old loner of his past.
Keen ears waited expectantly for the sound of hoof-beats approaching, and one cerulean eye flicked back to see the grey making his way alongside him. There was still much to teach this young soldier, no matter how eager he was.

The heat of his opponent's body radiated along his side as he approached, and the Sultan prepared himself for the boy's next, likely rash, attack. He stretched his gait out, wings pumping, speed increasing to remain just ahead of the sidling warrior. Defensively, he arched his neck and shifted his skull leftwards, and out of the reach of the teeth that soon shot out. Levi's bite met the hard, muscled flesh of his upper shoulder. Pain evaded him once again; only a faint pull brushing the spot where the hit left a short, shallow gash. As the chrome stag's teeth held him, Leander took the chance to strike. His own head whipped towards his opponent's biting skull, his own teeth aiming to bite down hard on a vulnerable velvet ear. If he made contact with soft of the soldier's ear, he would not pull to rip it apart; only bite down hard enough to leave him with a very painful gash. Areas around the face and head were more sensitive, and tended to cause more pain if injured; a tip that a young rogue once learned well. Something flew across the air near his hind end, almost brushing a dark pointed leg as it went. The sensation was Levi's kick, which had just missed the cannon of Leander's right rear leg. In getting slightly upwind of the boy, he'd saved himself from a sharp kick to the stomach. Incredulously, it seemed, a leg shot out as if towards his head, but it was sorely mistaken in it's aim; for the leg of the 16.1 soldier did not reach the raised head on his 17.3 draft frame.

Blue eyes gleamed as the ebon winged form reared up and away, before slipping quickly off to splash into the frigid sea. Sending bits of grainy tan flying around his feet, Leander slowed into a sharp halt. Thick, white plumes of breath winded from his nostrils as he caught his breath and watched in silence, letting the boy expend his energy in the water whilst he himself prepared. Why anyone in the right mind would go into such cold water at this time of year was unbeknownst to him; but then the move was just as risky and ill-planned as most of the new soldier's others had been. As expected, Levi was soon headed back towards him. Tucking his chin to his chest, the brawny palomino held his ground, shifting into a defensive posture. He made no move as the shorter charger circled him, sooty pillars anchored to the sand with a steely reserve, ignoring the way the hairs along his spine tingled when Levi was behind him and out of sight. He doubted an attack from behind, not when the grey would be vulnerable to a powerful buck. In a flash, the bull was in front of him again, suddenly flinging black feathers towards him in a soft spray of droplets. With a sense of feeling strongly impaired by the Ice Demon's grasp, he did not feel the light touch of the water speckling his front. In one swift movement, the golden flashed his own massive wing out to the left to distract the boy's gaze, while his maw lunged for an outstretched vulture wing. If his bite met it's target, his head would pull up harshly; hopefully ripping away some feathers and leaving a sore wing. Height might play an advantage in this case; for it would be easier to throw his head up and away from the slightly smaller structured male's grasp.

[ooc: It would be good for you to include a summary as well as attack post count in your posts to help keep track of things, as there are only to be 4 attack posts for each in this battle. I am a bit confused about your last post, since Leander did not fall down from any of Levi's attack. It is also a little hard to picture Levi's attacks rationally, as he went rather quickly from kicking at Leander's stomach to kicking at his head. Physically, that would be pretty difficult. Besides that, Levi's emotion and eagerness are great! :)

Summary: Leander feels his forelimb connect with Levi's back leg, then canters away along the beach. He feels Levi approaching along his side, and quickens his pace to stay slightly upwind. He also turns his head defensively in the opposite direction of Levi. Levi's bite hits his upper shoulder near base of the neck, and Leander snaps his head around to aim a bite for Levi's ear. Levi's kick for his stomach brushes past his rear right leg. Levi's kick to the head misses, as Leander's head is still raised from his attempted bite for Levi's ear. Leander watches Levi rear and slows to a stop as Levi runs into the ocean. He stands his ground as Levi returns. When Levi stops to throw water on him, Leander juts his left wing out as a distraction, then lunges forward to bite Levi's outstretched right wing.

Leandor. Levi couldn’t even begin where to start to describe him. His fierce amber gold eyes, never left his target’s. They were always filled with excitement, but in a sharp and stern way. His golden locks acted as a shield to his eyes. The way he moved was so graceful, but so harsh at the same time. The way his maw carried through the strikes were held up tall and fierce, something that Levi should take practice on. The way his wings would blow out for more speed, but never used them to fly. His sooty pelt was not drawn with blood, but the scars from the strikes Levi had taken. He knew for sure that if it were a real fight, hooves down Leandor would win. For first off Leandor was larger than he and taller. He was a more experienced one and knew more of what he was doing. So yeah pretty much Leandor was better all around, so he was privileged he was only teaching him. Levi, didn’t know one thing though that was on the inside of Leandor. Although on the inside and out he was pure, there was something dark and evil that lurked inside his soul. Maybe the most important part… The part that Leandor was possessed by a demon!

Levi’s silvery orbs reflected off of the darker flecks in Leandor’s. His fierce expression turned into an evil smirk as he bit onto Levi’s ear. The thrill of pain was again sent into the sensitive cartilage that protected the frame of the ear. Levi’s eyes turned angry as the thrill was sent into his ear. Levi quickly sent his front leg backwards. He aimed to hit the sooty stallion’s front knee, or possibly even his chest. It was hard for Levi to try to aim for higher places of the stallion for his was much taller than he. Finally letting go the beast rage he stepped backwards. Blocking the icy droplets with his massive golden wing, he aimed his maw to grab at Levi’s wing. Levi swiftly angled himself so the Leandor would bite his wing, but not injure it as much. Maybe he would grab a few feathers and leave a bruise. Turning his whole body around Leandor now faced the darkly shaded brutes rear end. Levi forced a powerful kick aiming towards Leandor, but you know what? Kicking was getting old and that reason was maybe because Leandor was using other tactics than just that. Levi felt stupif by how much he was thrashing out, so he collectively struck his foot back in. As he spun back around he aimed his teeth towards leandor’s foreface. Suddenly something struck Levi, not physically, but mentally. His mind was overthrown as he looked over at Leandor, he wasn’t looking himself. His veins pulsed with anger, but not the calm kind the serious kind. Leandor really looked like he was about to kill Levi. His eyes… those weren’t his eyes, but some beasts that seemed to be looking right at Levi’s very soul.

Taking a step back he stopped totally. Leandor seemed to be getting out of hand now, and Levi was confused why. It wasn’t Leandor he was sure of that fact. It wasn’t like Leandor could transform into some kind of unknown species or anything, but the sensation freaked him out. Eyeing the beast, his confusion turned into a fear. The way his golden eyes looked into his, he looked… well amlost possessed. Possessed, by some.. some kind of spirit. Levi couldn’t see this demon, but he could see it in Leandor’s eyes and the way he acted. Drawn by this confusion, Levi was literally motionless. His body couldn’t feel a thing. He wanted to scream and kick and rear, run or fly away from this monster. This baffling monster that lurked inside of Leandor’s presence.

His spine tingled with fear, but he quickly regained himself out of the trance. He shouted towards Leandor, but nothing came off the brute’s tounge. The little stallion yelled conseringly towards his presence. Levi wasn’t afraid at the fact that Leandor might setroy him, but at the fact that Leandor could possibly be hurting inside. Mentally and physically, Levi wasn’t quite too sure but surely he wanted to know. He wanted to know what was going on and why Leandor hadn’t told him before to warn him. He wasn’t sure if his theory was true, but if it was he was starting to feel ashamed. Ashamed that he thought that Leandor could be possessed. Maybe this was just his was of fighting? Continuing to fight he raced up to Leandor, attempting to charge into him to lose a bit of strength.

[OOC: W/C 783
Yeah, I was confused by your last post because I read to quickly for I was in a hurry. I am so sorry about the confusion! I was just all baffled because of school that I wasn’t paying much attention. Yes, I will keep a summary as well. I wasn’t sure if you wanted me to keep a summary because I thought it might be your thing haha. And thanks so much and I will try to make sense this time. If you are confused I can just edit it :3

Summary: Levi was painfully struck by Leandor's harsh grip on his ear. Quickly he aimed to kick back, trying to weaken his front leg or possible his chest. Then Levi was feared when he saw Leandor wasn't the same. He made a theory that Leandor was possessed. Once he got himself together again, he attempted to ram his body against Leadnor's to weaken his strength.]

LEANDER

your heart is the beacon, your heart is the storm

The familiar iron tang of fresh blood found his tongue, bringing memories to the surface. It had been long since he'd last dueled, and though the invasion had satisfied his lust for battle for a time, it was simply not the same. There was only his bare self against another now; his raw strategy, mind, and muscle being tested once again.
With lips stained maliciously garnet, the bronze charger released the boy's ear. Another faint thrum of pressure met his right forelimb at the stifle, caused by the grullo's kick. Their closeness meant that such a hit had little space to gain momentum, and the blow would only leave a wide patch of bruising on the feathered leg. It was something that would leave him sore and aching at any other time, but discomfort would continue to evade him as long as the demon had hold.

Salt air rushed by his gold face as he lunged forward for the soldier's wing. Undeterred by his attempt at distraction, the grey shifted into a less convenient position. The move made it slightly more difficult to get a decent grasp on the appendage, but his teeth found purchase none the less. Ivories clamped down upon feather coated muscle, and the golden's skull shot up, pulling the ebony wing along with it sharply. The poor grip on the wing would probably lessen the severity of his move, but it would likely still leave the younger stallion with one sore wing and a patch of missing feathers. Out of the corner of one frosted eye, he spotted silver rushed out for his face. The aureate leader threw his head to the right, reflexively, though a dull pinch stroked his cheek where the warrior's teeth scraped. This sensation was a fraction more distinct than those that had come from the boy's other successful hits, but was still just a ghost of true pain. A thin line of hairless skin was left in the place where teeth had raked against the side of his face; a superficial mark.

The charger was tired of pirouetting around, attacking as though he truly feared hurting the silver eyed buck. Irritation burned in his chest, and the boy's incessant shouting only served to push him further. "Control yourself! You must not let your enemy get the best of you, your mind must be as strong as your body!" A bellowing yell shot from his bloodstained maw, annoyance clear in his voice. This warrior needed to learn to think before he acted, to treat any fight as though he could be dealing with the most dangerous of opponents. Where was his resolve, his blood-lust? Frosted eyes narrowed, fury lacing their blue depths. The LionHeart lost more of himself to the uncontrollable sways of emotion at the Demon's will.

The golden stood his ground once again as the rash boy charged a second time. The dusty form was running hard, a battering ram ready to clash. It was not easy to pull out of a powerful charge, and so Leander readied himself. As the silver bullet grew close to impact, he raised up on his rear limbs, wings stretching out to the sides for added balance. Then heavy feathered forelimbs struck out and down, thrashing bulwarks aiming to connect with the black winged's head. If Levi's charge continued into his own back legs, the palomino would likely fall from the force. But Leander was prepared, for he would thrust himself forward and land tons of draft body on the shorter stag. If the grullo managed to slow the charge, his striking hooves would hopefully give a few painful blows to the tallest point; the head. The soldier would have to learn to plot, to use any situation to his own advantage. Leander would see that the boy would give up his reckless fighting habits, even if he had to beat the foolishness out of him. Blood on his hooves was not something new, after all.

[ooc: That's okay! I'm just trying to give you whatever OOC tips I can. :)
Summary's are required in both battles and in invasions, I believe. You should try to include each of Levi's attacks and defenses from your post in the summary, to help makes things clearer. It can also be helpful to read through your opponents last post and summary a few times, so that you are able to respond accurately. There are a few things you seemed to get confused upon, such as Leander having an evil smirk (which he did not, though his attacks are progressively getting more vicious as the demon's influence shifts his moods). It is also good to explain how Levi's injuries affect him physically; like whether Leander's bite to his ear left a gash (I'm assuming it did though Levi's description of the pain/effect was a little vague, as a successful bite to such a sensitive area would likely leave a wound), and how it felt when Leander bit his wing, etc. Try to keep the realistic effects of the movements and the attacks in mind. Great job with Levi's emotion once again! It is interesting to see him reacting to the changes in Leander's usual demeanor. :)

Summary: Leander feels Levi's front-kick connect with his right forelimb, leaving a bruise on the stifle. He continues on to bite Levi's right wing, though Levi's shifted position left him with a less secure grip. He then pulls the wing up hard, hoping to render the wing painful. He sees Levi lunging for his face, and reflexively throws his head to the right. Levi's teeth scrape his left cheek, ripping away a line of hair. Leander stands his ground as Levi charges at him once again, and rears just before impact. He strikes out and downwards with his forelimbs for Levi's head. Leander expects Levi to crash into his rear legs, and then aims to fall on top of him. If not, he plans to remain reared and striking for Levi's head or whatever else he can hit.

Leandor's grip hadn't lightened from Levi's attempt to turn his body around. Levi's wing still had that tight grip that Leandor had intended to bring. This time it wasn't as much pain, but still enough to bruise his wing. A big slash was also interfered with this bite as well. Leandor had taken a few feathers and a made a quick slash. Blood poured down Levi's right wing, as the sooty stallion kept coming back for more of a fight. Nothing that Levi couldn't handle, but he had never really had a cut on his wing(s) before, so it was very painful. A new kind of painful though. It wasn't as hard to handle then a powerful kick to the leg, or rump. That's it Levi thought. I know how I am going to do my final blow to the LionHeart. His eyes narrowed as he began to plan for this attempt to win this spar. Orbs raged with excitement as Leandor wouldn't know what the final blow would be. This wasn’t Levi’s final rage, but he intended to weaken him again. Lashing out, his body threw himself towards Leandor’s chest again. Then running up to him, the golden watched his every move as Levi attempted to stomp his large hooves on Leandor’s back. Throing his body into a fierce rear, he attempted to slam his hooves on Leandor’s back to slam him to the ground hoping he might be able to pin him. If that didn’t work Levi also had a backup plan.

Leandor's shriek pierced through Levi's lame ear. "Control yourself! You must not let your enemy get the best of you, your mind must be as strong as your body!" Levi said nothing, but only a slight nod of his head. Levi knew the golden stallion was right. Any enemy shouldn't intimidate him, whether he was concerned or not he didn't want to get out of control. He was going to put his thoughts behind for once and really just plain out fight. Now that Leandor seemed to be still raging it was the perfect opportunity to do something to prove to him that he wasn't planning on loosing himself.

Levi’s heart pounded as he gave Leandor a slight cut on his foreface. The golden’s blood dripped down Levi’s maw and teeth. Glaring at him, the sooty stallion stuck out downwards with his forelimbs for Levi’s head. Levi quickly dodges out of the way making that attempt out of the way. Levi was ready for his final blow. Racing back towards the giant, he leaped forward with a lot of momentum. Eyes open and maw stretched out long. He again attempted to trip the male, by kicking both legs, at his stifles again. Knowing at least one of the stifle’s were weak it would be a good idea to try to get it weaker for his big finale. Then rearing once again he lashed out trying to hit Leandor in the head with his powerful right hoof. Quickly, Levi came down from his rearing posture , swiveled towards the rear of Leandor’s. Taking his final blow he aimed for Leandor’s back left hip. With two raging legs, he shifted his hooves towards his opponent hoping to knock him over.

[OOC: First off, thank you again for all of this help! I honestly need it in my writing skills and everything else haha. Also for the evil smirk remark I said, I didn’t mean it to seem like I was trying to play your character but making it dramatic, but it came more out like power playing. Sorry about that :/ Also in the summary, yes that would definitely help with the clarity of the situations, so yes I will use both horses in my summary this time and what they attempted to do and how Levi felt when Leandor bit him, etc. Oh, and yes Leandor had his wings. Also, thank again :D
W/C 541
Summary: Levi feels the sensation of pain when Leandor harshly bit hig right wing. Giving it a big slash, Leandor also ripped a few feathers off. Nothing more than a bruise feeling Levi hadn’t known that Leandor ripped his wing. As Leandor still had Levi’s wing, Levi attempted to bang into his chest once again. As Leandor released his grip, Levi attempted to brutely stomp his hooves on Leandor’s back. As Leandor screamed at Levi to pay more attention, Levi ignored him to respond and slightly noded trying to show him that he was listening, but he wasn’t going to let Leandor get the best of him by trying to talk (even though he knew he was trying to help him). Levi got ready, then to bring Leandor his final blow. Harshly Levi, attempted to kick at Leandor’s stifle hoping to trip him. Then with a powerful rear, Levi aimed his right hoove for Leandor’s head. For his final blow, Levi swerved to the back of Leandor and kicked both legs powerfully towards his back left hip hoping to knock him over.
And sorry that sucked :/]

LEANDER

your heart is the beacon, your heart is the storm

The palomino pulled his dark pointed muzzle away from the wing, a few inky feathers tipped with blood in his mouth. Blue eyes spotted the ruby patch blossoming on the vulture wing as it's lost feathers dropped from his maw, skittering down the sand on the breeze. Levi's chrome form was quickly moving back for more, likely enraged by the pain in his newly injured wing. Leander pivoted his heavy body to the right, tucking his chin to his neck and throwing his head along to the right as well, leaving his muscled shoulder for Levi to collide with. He felt the grullo's impact against his shoulder, the force only serving to aid in pushing him around to the right further. Just as quickly, the young soldier was off again. Feathered limbs shifted to face the boy once again as he charged back towards him, aware of the purpose that his eyes seemed to gleam with. Fortunately, the new charge left him a moment longer to prepare, and as Levi poised for a rear, the sooty golden took his chance to run, making a wide circle around his opponent and leaving only empty air for the hooves that had tried in vain to seek his back.

His own rear was soon after left just as empty as the grullo's running path twisted away. Annoyance still pulsed hot in his veins. This sparring involved much more dancing around and superficial attacks, not at all like the serious battles that he'd been taught with. Watching as Levi raced back for yet another rushed attempt at a blow, the LionHeart spun on his hooves once again, letting his feet slide in the damp sand as he swiveled, leaving his brawny rump facing the warrior. A rush of air whizzed past his rear legs, and he felt the boy's hindquarters connect with his in an awkward bump, the momentum of Levi's kicking legs likely slowed by the contact and narrowly missing the blonde's sturdy back limbs. Having been keeping icy eyes trained towards the black winged stallion, Leander saw him motion to raise up from the ground once more. Taking the cue to move, russet wings thrust hard through the air as he launched away from Levi, head held defensively low and away from striking hooves. The sea breeze had been at his back, pressing against his plumage as though they were the sails of some gilded ship. The sultan pulled into a more collected run the farther he got from the boy, finally letting himself slow back to a walk as the spar met its end. That was certainly enough for one day, though the soldier still had many strategies to learn. Casting his cold gaze back to the grey, he could not help noticing the wet of blood on his ear, nor the spot of bald red on his right wing. Guilt began to knot in his stomach, replacing the irritated fury it had held before. Had he been much to harsh on this poor boy? This was likely his first real spar, after all. Heaving a sigh, white lined pools regained some of their normal warmth as he walked back towards Levi. "You did well, Levi. But like any warrior there ever was or ever will be, you have much to learn. Plan your attacks more carefully when you can, and use your opponent's actions to your advantage. Use your wings to give you force on the ground. By watching different opponents, you will learn to gauge what kind of a fighter each one is, and react accordingly. Be always malleable." With that advice, he nodded a weary smile and continued a path towards the Throat, speaking only a few more words over his shoulder as he went. "I will see you back in the Throat, Levi. I look forward to seeing your progress further, I know your skills will be much needed in the Throat, and likely sooner rather than later." With some time and practice, there was no doubt that the new soldier would become a skilled warrior of the Throat.

[ooc: You're welcome! :)
Some of Levi's attacks were still a bit hard to picture realistically. There were also a few parts of your post which were incorrect on some of Leander's injuries/attacks; such as, Levi's bite did hit Leander's cheek, but with less force as Leander had begun to pull his head away, therefore he lost a line of hair off of his face, but was not cut, so there would be no blood from that on Levi's face. Also, with the attack on Leander's stifles, I was not sure if Levi was kicking with his back limbs or striking out with his front, and I also did not know if Levi was aiming to hit Leander's right or left stifle. Definitely try to make your attacks more specific, including exactly what area of your opponent they are targeting, and exactly what part of Levi's body is being used in the attack. Great job for you first time! :D

Summary: Leander pulled his mouth from Levi's wing. As Levi attempts to ram into Leander's chest, he pivots to the right so that he shoulder will absorb the contact. He turns to face Levi as he comes charging back again, and lunges away as Levi begins a rear, making a wide circle around him. He drops back to the ground after his own attempted rear and striking misses Levi. He swivels on his haunches as Levi runs at him again, his own hindquarters bumping against Levi's and Levi kick narrowly misses his stifle, only lightly brushing past his legs. He notices Levi beginning to move up into another rear, and ducks his head low as he lunges away from Levi's striking forelimbs. He runs down the beach and considers the spar finished, finally walking back to speak to Levi before heading back to the Throat.

[ooc: No problem! <3 I'm still fairly new to sparring/battles myself, but I tried to give what tips I could. You don't need to reply, as each of them have had their four attack posts and Leander had his final closing defense.
And thank you Blu!]

By my verdict LEANDER is the winner.

LEANDER -- post 1 (attack only)

[Realism]
+ 1| Attack: feint
+ 1| Attack: buck

LEVI -- post 1

[Realism]
- 1| Defense: feint – you mention it briefly, but not how you reacted to the feint.
- 1| Defense: buck – wings cannot block a buck and would take severe damage. It’s also unlikely you could be so prepared to block when Leander used a feint right before.
+ 1| Attack: tripping
- 1| Attack: sliding underneath – this is not a viable attack for a horse, nor would you be able to life someone up after sliding beneath them.

LEANDER -- post 2

+ 1| Defense: rearing
+ 1| Attack: dive at spine

LEVI -- post 2

[Realism]
- 1| Defense: struck in back leg – Leander did not fall, for one, and he aimed at Levi’s back/spine which you do not describe trying to avoid so I’m unsure how this hit your back leg instead or how you could fall backwards.
+ 1| Attack: bite at neck
- 1| Attack: stomach kick – if you were just biting his neck, your hind hooves would not be nearly close enough to hit his stomach. Also hooves cannot slice through skin, they are rather blunt.
- 1| Attack: head kick – again based on position you could not reach his head, nor do you even describe in any way how you led up to this attack.
+ 1| Attack: water flick – the water is a good distraction, but would not be sharp or as fast as you are describing.

LEANDER -- post 3

[Realism]
+ 1| Defense: bite to shoulder
- 1| Attack: bite at ear – if he had just bit your shoulder you wouldn’t be in a position to reach around and bite his ear, horses have a hard time reaching that far back especially while running. If you had described some repositioning of the rest of his body for this attack, it would have likely been valid.
+ 1| Defense: dodge stomach kick
+ 1| Defense: dodge head kick
+ 1| Defense: pelted with water
+ 1| Attack: bite at wing

LEVI -- post 3

[Realism]
0| Defense: bite on ear – could have avoided this!
- 1| Attack: bucking at front knee – alright first off, you should not backtrack this far to attack again when the fight has long progressed past this point. You yourself already wrote several attacks in this time and moved on to the ocean, so just in that regard this attack is not viable. If it were however, you are not properly positioned for a buck, Leander is in front of you not anywhere near your hindend.
0| Defense: wingtip grabbed – this was a good defense, but lacked description as to how you angled yourself to get only the tip bitten.
0| Attack: buck – this would have been a good time to buck especially as you described spinning around to do it, but you continue and it’s no longer clear if you made the buck or stopped yourself to do something different.
+ 1| Attack: bite at face – there is no foreface.
0| Attack: charge – you were already standing right by Leandor so could not really get any speed for a charge.

LEANDER -- post 4

[Realism]
0| Defense: kicked – you could have avoided this!
+ 1| Defense: bite grazes cheek
+ 1| Attack: rear – rearing up to kick someone quickly charging at you will knock you over, however because they are already so close I think in this scenario it could work.
+ 1| Defense: blocking charge with rear.

LEVI -- post 4

[Realism]
- 1| Defense: you make no mention of Leander’s rear to your charge I found it down below finally. This entire post was chaos for me with the way you were timing everything, please just respond accordingly to your opponent’s string of attacks and defenses. Either way you do not describe how you avoid the rear attack, only that you do which is not enough.
- 1| Attack: charge - how are you charging right now, I don’t understand this situation at all.
- 1| Attack: hoof stomp on back – I have no idea how a shorter horse could stomp someone’s back from a charge, or how this attack is even happening based on the situation in Leander’s post. You cannot really pin a horse. If timing wise you’re putting this when Leander bit his wing, again that has already long ago happened and you have already written yourself doing things since then. You cannot backtrack that far to attack again.
- 1| Powerplay: “Levi’s heart pounded as he gave Leandor a slight cut on his foreface.” You cannot say you gave him a cut, I’m not even sure when or how you attacked him for this. If this is supposed to be when Leander’s cheek was bitten, that was long ago in the timeline so it’s strange you mention it now, it was his cheek, and it wasn’t bleeding. This is all very confusing.
- 1| Attack: stifle trip – kicking stifles would not trip someone and there is not enough detail here for me to visualize this.
- 1| Attack: rear at head – you do not explain how you went from the previous attack to this and are not in the right position to make this attack. Also consider how you are shorter than Leander, it’s unlikely you’d hit his head.
- 1| Attack: hip attack – not enough detail to visualize how this happening now did you describe getting in a realistic position to carry this out based on the position you were in with your last attack and where your opponent is believed to be.

LEANDER -- post 5 (defense only)

[Realism]
+ 1| Defense: takes charge to shoulder
+ 1| Defense: runs away from rear at back
+ 1| Defense: rump to rump
+ 1| Defense: running from head kick and hip attack.

[Creativity]
+ 1| Loved the way you used his wings throughout the fight.

Comments: You show a lot of skill with your grasp on horse mechanics in fighting and timing. I loved the way you used your wings throughout the fight and played on the ice demon. I would like to see some more emotion from you however, I never felt fully drawn into Leander and all his motives, just a few glimpses of his feelings and his past. You could also benefit more from playing off your surroundings and mentioning your sustained injuries and how they’re affecting you during the fight – in this case I don’t think you had many to do that with but you never mentioned any injury except when taking it. I expect great things from you in the future though with how well you attack and defend!

[Creativity]
+ 1| Unique idea with that sand sliding attack.

Comments: You show a lot of promise with your creativity for attacks and how well you do use your surroundings. I’m not quite sure you have a grasp on how horses fight though, and would suggest doing some research and reading through past fights. Timing and positioning were some of your biggest issues here. You cannot keep going back to add more attacks in when you’ve already moved past a situation, otherwise everything stops making sense, and you need to remember to be specific with what your attacking with, where you’re attacking, and how you’re doing that attack (same for defense). So using right, left, parallel, perpendicular, etc will all help everyone figure out where the characters are in relation to each other. I’d also suggest not attacking as much in your posts. You would do a lot which makes it hard to defend properly or time things accurately. I would rather see more detailed attacks then a lot of attacks. You also need to really improve on your grammar. There were a lot of typos and strange sentences throughout all your posts. Please proof read before posting! I know you can definitely improve if you take more time on your replies and study others a bit further :)
