Tears of smoke ash and emotion filled her eyes as she begged for the Sun God to leave her home alone. Her dear home. She had lived here for so long. Seen ages pass. Seen saplings grow into trees. Trees that now cried too. Her body hurt as she was launched against one of the trees, and she slid down to the ground, legs curled beneath her body like a foal. She let her head rest to the ashen earth as he mind drifted into darkness.

When she woke again, she tasted blood, and the red liquid poured from her mouth. She coughed a spray of it, and she carefully hauled her body up and onto her small hooves. The tree she leaned against groaned, everything that he once made it living, drawn away. Tears still slid from her eyes, and she moved deeper into the forest, limping pathetically. She paused at each fallen tree and whispered a prayer of forgiveness and love. None of these newcomers could understand.

None of them knew this forest when it was young and youthful, filled with the joyous laughter of its inhabitants. Now, it was broken. She moved ever farther into the forest. She knew how to disappear. For the first time in her long life, she felt hatred. She wanted to go after the Sun God. She wanted every last fire snuffed out. Even if it meant the end of the world, cast in darkness, she would take it if it meant his demise.

Most of all, she felt betrayed. No longer did the Moon God show her the world in the mists. She sat up in her night sky and did nothing. Everything she had put her heart into was damaged and broken.
