Kill a Peregrine Falcon and bring me back both wings. That is what she had said, the moon goddess. In all her beauty she had told her to kill one of the fastest birds alive. She had a lot to think about. For a start, this was the fastest bird in the world they were talking about. How was she,Aisha, meant to catch one? She mused over the thought, dragging he raven colored hoofs along the sand. Heat was beating down on her, this was one place the sun did not miss, not matter where about in the Throat you were, the sun followed. It didn't help having a black coat even. The dark color greeted heat by gulping it down into its self.

The question of how to kill the bird lingered in her mind when she came to a dead tree. If there is anywhere a Falcon is going to come,it is here. The dead branches grew in every direction. The branches started with a blank expression, there was no sign of living life on the cold, hard wood at all. She pricked her ears and took the weight of her back left leg, resting it on the sand, taking care for it not to sink into the sand. She Sighed. This is going to be a long wait.

A cry splits the heavens above as a falcon coasts on the winds. Its wings do not stir as it rides the thermals, drifting up and dipping down, tilting left and banking right. It circles above in a steady pattern, eyes searching and seeking the tell tale signs of prey rustling the grounds below.

There.

It has spied a kangaroo mouse stirring in the shade of a cactus. Silent as death the bird's wings close to its sides and it drops like a stone from the sky. Slick as a bullet and just as deadly the peregrine strikes the ground, talons clutching at the small rodent's body as wings snap out and buffet the air in a frenzy. Dust swirls like a cloak and the world is silent for a moment, just as eager to see the outcome of the clash.

As the red dirt scatters back into place the falcon is seen decapitating its meal.

A deafening shriek from above startled Aisha. She flicked her head up to see a spiralling falcon scanning the desert land below, probably looking for some tasty morsel. A falcon. Invisible joy surged though her body as she didn't want to scare the bird of. All she need to do was kill it somehow and cut its wings of. Surging down, its winged pressed against its agile body,Aisha turned to where the bird seemed to be head. A small mouse creature slept lightly in the shadow of a towering cactus. She slowly picked her way though the sand. If she could time it right, she could get there at the perfect moment.

A forest of sand flew up from the scene of crime, and Aisha was glad. The falcon couldn't see though the sandy mist, giving her perfect cover to sneak up on the bird. She quicked up her walk but didn't go as fast as trotting. The last thing she wanted to so was freak the bird out so it flew away. As the cloudy mist cleared she saw the bird digging into its mouse meal, ripping its head of from its lifeless body. She cringed at the sight.

Arching her neck she aimed her horn in the direction of the bird. Taking in a deep breath she prepared herself both mentally and physically. She leapt forward a stride,to get closer to the bird, the threw herself forward onto her knees, scrapping along the sand but she knew if she had any chance she would have to get her horn to the birds height so that she could give it a brutal stab though its heart. She shut her eyes as everything seemed to shift frame speed into slow motion. She knew she had perfect aim for its chest if it didn't move. She could only hope.

The falcon is not one to be comfortable on the ground, and as such its senses are on high alert to any threats that may come. In addition the adrenaline of the chase still flooded the peregrine's system, enhancing it's reactions. Something as clumsy as a unicorn couldn't hope to spear the mighty falcon, not in such an obvious manner.

With a cry of alarm the raptor hurls itself back into the sky, wings slapping the cactus as it twists away. Blood dangles in its trail as the horn cleaves the air, but it's only droplets from the mouse body still clutched in its hungry and unforgiving talons. Rebuffed, the falcon flies quickly to the safety of a distant place to eat its meal in peace.

[The falcon has fled and no more will come to the area for some time. You should re-think your methods!]

As her knees crashed onto the ground the was a ear splitting cry. She bared her teeth as she head the frantic flap of wings and felt the air being pushed down but there was no pressure on her horn; nothing to say she had killed the bird. As the sand settled down again she opened her eyes and peered up to see the falcon shot of into the distance, clutching the mouse in its talons.

Damn. She had mucked up her first chance of killing a peregrine falcon so now what? She would simply have to wait for another one; there was no point trying to chase after it. It was long gone. She stamped her hoof on the ground in annoyance, the sand dampening the thud. She then sighed and lowered her head expecting another long wait for another falcon to appear. At least it have her some time to think of a new method.

OOC:Will I have to wait on this thread or make a new one? (not sure)
