I speaketh the Truth</style>

It was the scent of woodlands and the crashing of sea against hard rocks that pulled him closer. Despite knowing this to be a land under the control of a herd he allowed the steady legs to carry him to the east, from the northern snow covered plains.

He was alone, for once. For the vagabond it wasn't an unfamiliar state to be in, but it weighed on him none the less. Most of his childhood had been spent in the company of family and acquaintances so well known they might just as well have been family too. Bound by blood and common believes they had wandered, seeking places of unrest where they might find something to slake their thirst for action, for adventure and the thrilling rush of adrenaline. Solitude had become familiar first when his choices had caused him to travel a rode different from that of his parents; unwelcome yet necessary, and hard to shake once it had grown familiar.

It weighed on him now, the loneliness. Caused by a loss deeper than that caused by death or partings, it rested within the demonic gaze of the unicorn as he slipped across the borders of the herdland, a pale shadow moving through the mist in the dark hours of night. The choice to avoid the patrols was a conscious one, caused not so much by fear of being ushered away as by a desire to reach the edge of this land, to look out over the sea and feel the cool wind caress his skin.

Or maybe he was just looking for trouble.

He hadn't been in Helovia very long, but even a deaf or mute horse would have been able to pick up on the unrest. After spending years sneaking around in search for conflicts, it was becoming like a sixth sense; and of course, the tight watch on the borders with several patrols that kept looking north was a strong hint that something wasn't right.

Uninterested in politics for the moment, the only concern this unicorn held was whether someone would be attentive enough to catch him before he reached the sea. Enjoying his quiet game of breaking and entering, he repressed a desire to hum softly as he slipped through the forest, ghostlike in his silent steps and the eerie way he passed through roots, trees and rocks.
