The Innocent






"She is very nice...I think...you will like Abby, too." Little Nayati spoke. Balé nodded and asked in return, "Where do we go now?
He stared down at the spotted filly with soft eyes. The two stood closely together. When together they gained many things: power, acceptance, courage, confidence, and most importantly, joy. Together they were joyous.
Should anything unfortunate circumstances fall upon little Nayati I will do my absolute best to protect her from any harm. Though he was still a baby himself, he felt the urge to try and watch over the mare. He especially liked her.
Before she could speak, he interrupted her thoughts with a deep declaration, much beyond his years, "I will be here for you, Nayati, whenever you need me. Whatever the situation. Please remember that." For a moment, a small lapse in time perhaps, all of his earthly awkwardness dissipated. A window into the future perhaps, regardless, he possessed a regal air that seemed impossible. So strong, so sure was the young colt.
After only a moment, in the blink of an eye, it was gone. He was simply the awkward and uncoordinated foal that he always had been.
Though young, he knew what he was saying and meant every word. He was true to everything he spoke.
