She is old, and he will age for an incredibly long time and become very old- meeting at the bottom could be death, the eventual result of old age.

Digging is done with the hooves- around his hooves he has red, blood colored striping, and he wears a silver boot. Silver is next precious to gold. He is earthen in that he has a tree.
