There had been something different about her mother now as she reached the last days of her pregnancy. She was often secluded and would only stay in the warmest areas of the herd lands. Aviya scoffed at the thought--she was born out in the open and in the cold, and she was strong. Something inside her turned darkly and she felt pity for her younger, unborn sibling. I cannot let it be weak. Aviya thought as she moved herself towards the hot springs, tail lifted in an Arabian fashion and her head lifted with all the pride of a princess.

"Mother," Aviya spoke lightly, her voice low and musing. Her crystalline eyes examined the new foal that lay on the ground beside her mother. As she stepped with agile cloven hooves closer to Momma Kou, the dark daughter wondered how long it would take her new sibling to stand up. Aviya watched the creature in an odd manner--close to the way Mesec had watched her. Aviya did not feel love for the wet foal like she did towards her parents, but an indifference towards it, along with Mesec. With a smirk she thought, at least it doesn't have wings. As Aviya reached the pale nurse's side she lowered her beautiful head down and touched muzzles with her, breathing lightly into Momma Kou's nostrils affectionately. "Why Nao?" Aviya asked simply, ears flicking to catch the soft vocals of her mother. With furrowed brows the dark princess lifted her head and looked down at her new sister.

The tail the swung darkly behind the yearling stopped moving as she turned her jaw to where she had come, eyes awaiting her father expectantly. She wondered how Daddy d'Art would feel about his new spawn, how he would raise her. Would he treat her with the same affection as he did her? Would he teach her the same things? Would he teach her how to kill, just as Aviya was learning?
