As her mate scouted one side of the triangular land of the Edge, a golden dragon scouted the other. Wings stretched for many dozens of feet from her sides, tail acting like a rudder behind her, guiding her lean, muscular body over the ragged line of the cliff, the area where the ocean crashes unceremoniously into the rocky land below. Nostrils flared, drinking deeply the scent of her home, the ocean, the forest, and those who linger within it.

So when the smell of blood mingling with the saline liquid drifted to her eagerly awaiting nostrils, she was a bit.. surprised.

A harsh snort ruptured the slits that were her nares, the metallic stench was unexpected, and the effect it had upon the dragon equally surprising. A hunger knawed at her, a deep, instinctual, predatory turn, causing her keen eyes to sharply swivel around, and spy the crimson stain upon her cliff-face, the pool of blood-red foam thrashing about in the waves against the dark rocks - the entrance of the bronze dragon into a cave where her prey was laying wait.

A strange hiss was snarled from the dragon's mouth, as like a shark having scented a meal, she honed in on the area. Akaith sensed the situation her bonded was in, and whilst she mentally attempted to remind the golden dragon of the equine heart that rested within her, she darted ahead into the cave, chirruping a warning to the bronze stallion before promptly landing atop his withers, a spike that grew from Vikram's nape clutched between her claws.

Seconds passed, before a deep grumbling announced the nearness of the golden dragon whose claws scratched at the cave's entrance, as wings simultaneously attempted to flap and fold down. Long, snake-like head poked into the cave, a snarl curling her lips as the rich scent of blood drew her in, closer, and closer still. The look in her ye was not of the equine Mirage, but of a wild dragon, fierce, powerful, and very nearly beyond redemption.

Remember.

The voice sounded in her head, and the dragon stopped her eyes from staring at the bloodied equine-fish before her, turning sharply to focus upon the little queen that sat atop the strong bronze who was her mate. A mental hum resonates through her tiara, silent to any who were not privy to the bond shared between the two golden dragons, as roles seemed to reverse and Akaith reminded her bonded what she was, who she was.

It was the deep, questioning voice of Vikram that eventually brought her completely back to normal - at least, calmed her fiery stature down so that she could walk sedately to his side, leaning her shimmering, golden scales against his equally brilliant, rich bronze ones. The dragon-mare shared in the question, her gaze cutting sharply through this horse-fish, staring not at the blood now but at his eyes - through his eyes, into his very soul.

"Why are you here?"
