His gaze turned toward the cave's entrance, watching with guarded apprehension as the sunlight was blocked by the figure of a golden dragon who was nearer his size, who normally only spent part of her time in this form. But he didn't recognize the look in her eyes, and this worried him immensely. A precautionary step was taken closer to the stranger, the stallion prepared to step between his mate and this stranger should it be necessary... but she paused, focusing on Akaith.
Not until after the bronze stud inquired of the stranger did his mate finally approach. A soft rumble vibrated in the giant stallion's chest, not quite a warning and not quite an inquiry in itself. But she rather calmly moved to stand at his side, golden scales coming to rest against his bronze scales and coppery coat. A tension he hadn't been entirely aware of fell away, and one wing partially unfurled to curve with a quiet possessiveness over his mate's back.
At last the stranger spoke, and the hybrid turned his full attention upon him. Only now did he realize that this stallion was not fully horse-like in shape beneath the water and the cloud of blood. Curious. A doubtful statement was made, asserting the stranger's wellness, followed by an innocent comment about exploring before a polite inquiry was made.
"We are inhabitants of the herd land that lies above the cliff-faces. I am Vikram, a protector of the herd. This is Mirage, leader of the herd, and her bonded, Akaith." He made the introductions simply, a deed he would not have done in full had there not been the bond of friendship and love and trust between himself and the dragon-mare who owned his heart.
