Romani

Both she, Kasai, and Adeamus had left the Threshold in good spirits, and that very attitude had continued as they made the journey northwards towards the Foothills. Occasionally Romani would ask the stallion if they could pause in their journey and rest, so little Kasai wouldn’t be pushed too hard, and despite the few stops they still made it home in record time. Soon, as they rose in elevation, the thick evergreen forests of the Threshold gave way to the grassy fields and mountainous terrain that was the Windtossed Foothills. The skies were afire with a cascade of sunset hues and the smell of sweet spring grass was carried on the soft breeze, and Romani’s crisp, azure eyes looked over her home with a loving eye. It was clear by her expression alone how much the Haflinger adored her home. It was the very reason she had become a warrior, after all, to protect her beloved home and herd.

After crossing the herd border, the palomino mare stopped in their venture and turned her pretty head towards the stallion, regarding him with kind eyes. “Welcome to the Foothills, Adeamus. This is your home now.” She wondered how he was taking this all, absorbing the sights, sounds, and smells of the land that would become his home. Would he come to love it like she did? Or would he merely regard the Foothills like a place of respite, and not loyalty? “What do you think? Beautiful, hm?”

While she didn’t know him that well yet, as they had just met, Romani had the feeling that he would grow to love it. At least, she hoped that he would.

At her heels, Kasai pranced forward a few steps, completely at ease around Adeamus now. All fears that she had previously held seemed to have vanished. Ears perked forward and little nose twitched as she took in the smells that the cub now associated with home, her tail swaying slightly. While somewhat tired from the walk home from the Threshold, the feline was still full of energy. The tigress’ head swiveled back around to face the two equines, a purr emanating from deep in her throat. They were home.

”Yes, sweet,” Romani murmured through her mind for only Kasai to hear, a softer smile crossing her dark lips as she regarded the cub with loving eyes, ”We are home.”

Adeamus had been sweet and polite the whole journey and he continued to be the gentle man he was. His blue orbs looked around. The trees seemed to fade to a stop and the terrain was a green canvas with hills and a few mountains some would say. The beautiful oranges of the sunset were making him feel home already. The sun's vibrant waves of energy and color seeped through holes on the few clouds. It was peaceful, yet the harmony of horses and peacefulness clashed. The horses and their harmonies. The sun and waves of green from the beautiful landscape. The cool air running next to Adeamus' blood bay color. His short mane dancing and swaying with the fresh air.

He enjoyed it already. He was ready to make this his home, and he was glad Romani could accompany him in this. "I am surely happy I can finally have a home as wonderful as this." He stuttered at the word home. It had been a while since he could use the word and mean it. He wanted to help this herd. Maybe he would become a great weight in the herd and succeed rapidly with his fighting skills. He was barely able to answer the thing she said next. He was to awestruck at the thought of having a home, but managed to answer her without exploding from joy. "It is very gorgeous and beautiful indeed. I am very joyous to call a place such as this home." He gave the mare a warm smile. She was gorgeous in his mind and it made it that much harder to answer her, but it made it easy to give a smile to her. He found her pleasant to view. He could sense Romani thinking and giving thoughts to the peppy feline. He took extra warmth in their bond.

Osiris had long since fallen silent.

The wolf had landed himself in a strange, unfamiliar situation. His paws nimbly touch the ground, making little noise on the soft loam of the forest ground as he walks. The prints left behind in the mud between the green overlay softened curves with jutting holes from the talons upon his feet. Nimble and quiet, like the predatory half of his bloodlines, the hybrid moves through the forest like a shadow, unnoticed by creatures unless their eyes land upon his large furtively moving figure. Hard golden eyes peer out, a guarded light hovering before the feral eyes of a dog. Above his head, the lithe little black dragon, truly a snake with wings and a few other adornments, watches with curious violet eyes.

The pair is normally solitary, unless accompanied by the wolves with whom Osiris claimed family ties despite their lack of blood relations. Upon this day, however, the great wolf moves not just with Comadre, but with a smaller, more elegant white mare - Nadira. Having promised to escort her to the Foothills, Osiris walks calmly, despite the inner storm of self-doubt and worry eating away at his chest cavity. His head is held high, much higher than that of the dainty lady's, but her horn would easily make up for much of the height difference between them. From what the wolf has gathered about Nadira, she is a gentle soul, and one who would not easily come toward violence. The stallion had little to fear from this pure looking unicorn with gentle azure eyes. The only fright amidst their company was the giant form of the hybrid.

Spring sunlight drifts through the branches of trees as they pass, dappling the fur laden form of Osiris. Much of his winter coat still remained, though if he were to brush against the bark of any tree surrounding him, a few pounds of thick fur might scrape loose. There would be a time for grooming later. Right now, Osiris was playing the role of a valiant knight delivering a princess to her Kingdom. It was laughable to think of the nightmarish creature in such a gallant position, and he shakes away the thought almost as quickly as it sprung upon him.

The trees slowly begin to thin, and the wolf lets out a hardly noticeable sigh of relief. The heavy weight of silence has begun to press upon his chest, but Osiris is hardly skilled in the art of conversation well enough to suggest a new topic without aid from their surroundings. Light saturates the forest easily, announcing that the canopy is thinning and the great forest of the Threshold will give way to the Foothills valley, perhaps the best land for grazing in all of Helovia. Glancing back toward Nadira, Osiris offers a small, almost imperceptible smile. "We are almost to your new home, Lady Nadira," he says, assuring her that their travels were coming to a close soon. The wolf is no less nervous to enter the land of the Earth God, for upon his last visit the haughty and fiery tempered Ricochet had laid war upon him and Ophelia for entering. Though Archibald had done well to chase him out, there was uncertainty in the wolf's heart as to whether his passage here would be well received regardless of the Incendiary's absence.

The trees clear, allowing the flowing hills of green to be revealed in all of their splendor. Grey rocks crop out from fields of emerald, but the most apparent break in the scenery is the pair of figure standing not far from Nadira and Osiris. Comadre chirps excitedly, flying immediately toward the golden mare and her companion, causing Osiris to curse under his breath slightly. If there had been any hope of avoiding this golden damsel and stallion, it was lost now. "Let us greet your fellow herdmates," a forced smile and calm voice says, before the wolf sets off at a trot toward the warrior and newcomer of the Foothills.

Stopping several paces short of the duo and lion, Osiris gives a cautious look toward the golden mare, while ascertaining that Nadira has followed behind him. "Pardon the intrusion," he says toward the golden mare, who looked more at peace in the green hills than the stallion. "I am escorting this lady to this land. She was offered a home here by Boltar." Comadre floats curiously before Romani and her tiger, before offering them a toothy grin and fleeing back to land on Osiris's shoulder.

it has come to pass...

The crossover from the Threshold to her new home felt like an endless endeavor. So many new sights and sounds to absorb, she didn’t know where to start. Was it the scampering of little baby bunnies that were also experiencing the newness of the world around them, or was it the bright coloration of birds that inhabited the Threshold? Had it not been for the vibrations Osiris had been radiating since their departure, she might have had the opportunity to inquire him for particulars. From the rear, the ethereal unicorn was given the leisure to continue on with her observation of the wolf creature. The piercing tingle of a pinched nerve channeled through her. Frustration and confusion were a cataclysm with every attempt at piecing together how he functioned, how he processed his thoughts, who he was. What made him tick? What did he fear? She had been warned for her undying curiosity in school. But it had never left her; it had only grown like a tumor inside of her.

She, herself, was clothed with holes, pockets that had been left empty, without answers to complete her story. She was just as broken as he. He a hybrid; was half wolf and half horse, torn between two worlds. And she, a unicorn, having been trapped in a mortal girl’s body. The only difference was she hadn’t known her true essence, but he did. It was a choice he was going to have to make, to either accept himself as he was or deny whom he was and fight it to his death. The bloodless mare did not wish to see the latter take form. She had suffered a dying body on a continuously, day after day and night after night. It was a wrenching tug, a dull but sharp pain of disappearance. It was the feeling of a caged bird, or not being free to run wild. Death was its own poison that not even the bravest would truly dare worth risking. Sure hero’s died, and warriors fought to protect those whom they held dear to their heart. But they were never looking to die for the cause. They may have been willing, but that is different.

With her azul pools, Nadira’s gaze penetrated through the heavy front that the stallion had surrounded himself with, and she saw a colt-playing knight in shining armor. A slender crease embarked upon her façade. But as soon as she had witnessed it, the wind’s current changed and his game was over, as quickly as it had come. She wanted to tell him that it hadn’t been nonsense, but what good would have that done? She hadn’t exactly grown up in normal circumstances either. She had learned to put up a false wall that only spoke well of the mare, never speaking of anything personal, or truth, only lies to avoid conversation, to avoid what hurt the most.

As the forest became less dense, and enlightened with more sunlight, the timeless essence couldn’t hold back the curiosity that overwhelmed her. She tried a couple of times to take second’s worth of a glimpse of the meadow that was beginning to open broadly into a field only one could dream of. Full of life and vitality; birds chirping, butterflies of all variations, and other critters she had only been told through stories and old maid’s tales. But she soon grew tired of the view she was receiving, and moved up alongside Osiris. She hoped he didn’t mind. She was too hypnotized to comprehend the word home, but when his lips spoke the words Lady Nadira, the sizzling throb of blood rushing to her features would have given any red cardinal a run for their wings. She had to fight back swallowing her saliva down the wrong tube, as to not choke. He was becoming so proper, and yet he seemed to still hold his gruff state about him. All she could do was let a smile encase her maw as she gave a genuine smile. But for some reason, she felt a strong hesitation, even though it was not shown.

Nadira was paying too much attention on other things that a jolt sent her body into a hiccup at Comadre’s excited chirp. Pulling her blue vision towards Comadre, she followed his pursuit to the duo not far ahead of them. That was when she heard a slight curse uttered beneath the wolf’s snout before he thought better of it and suggested they go and make introductions. That was another thing she had picked up; he was not a sociable creature. Which she was fine with her. It left one to their thoughts when traveling. Sometimes she preferred it. She matched his stride flawlessly. As tiny as she may seem, her short limbs were fluid and could cover just as mush ground as any creature twice her size. Because of her lithe movements, lightness of foot, and lightly compact, travel was not something she worried about.

The pearly unicorn mare ceased her movements beside the half wolf, half stallion, maybe too close for comfort, but this was new territory. She felt as if she was being handed off to a place she wished not to be. Wished that he would stay with her. But she was no longer a child, and she could not act like it. Was it the fear of not seeing Osiris again? In such a short period she had felt a common ground with him. Though she was sure where he resided was no place for her that she would not deny. But sometimes it would have been a nice luxury to override common sense with impulse. As they had arrived, the stallion was making his exit, apparently having to attend other busy matters she supposed. She then turned her attention back on the golden mare with the cute tiger cub beneath her. She kept a lock on her tongue, as she let Osiris attend to the introductions, only a slight bow of her crown was given with her name.

"I am Nadira."

Romani

Romani had given Adeamus a kind farewell before they parted ways, knowing that he was eager to explore the vastness that was his new home. The Foothills were only the beginning; all of Helovia was magical in its own way, and it was always best to go and explore what the world had to offer. Between the Endless Blue, the Thistle Meadow, and the Steppe, all of Helovia had something that might spark someone’s fancy. Lowering her head, the compact mare gave a soft knicker for Kasai to venture close once more. The cub obeyed, turning on her haunches and stepping closer to the Haflinger with her tail held high into the air. A deep, soothing purr emanated from the tigress’ stomach, and Romani chuckled softly to the small cub.

“Yes, sweet… We’ll be going shortly, I promise.” The words were said softly, as was the tone that the warrior most often used towards her beloved bonded one, aside from the not-so-rare times where the striped feline would wander off on her own, or attempt to perform something that was far too complex to be completed at such a young age.

The wind shifted then, tousling the mare’s ivory mane and tail, forelock whipping from her face. It was what the wind carried that caused Romani to suddenly stiffen, a foreign scent… No, two scents is what the breeze contained, and the mare’s sharp, azure eyes darted to the sides before spotting the two individuals that the smells belonged to. The first she noticed was a white, clean mare, with an equally pristine horn adorned upon her head. She was a pretty thing, Romani noted, who held herself upright and with dignity. Her gaze travelled then to ivory Unicorn’s travelling companion; a stallion… Or was it?

Turning to face the two completely, Romani did her best to not stare. After all, staring was rude, but never had the Haflinger ever seen a hybrid such as this. Was… Was he a wolf-horse? How strange. Yet, remembering her manners, she watched as they approached, and her curiosity grew when a dragon fluttered seamlessly through the air, pausing before she and Kasai and chirping almost happily. The dragon’s body was rather handsome, if she could say, with sleek black scales. At her side, Kasai’s curiosity only magnified upon spotting the dragon, and at its chirp, she let out a soft, growling meow, tail beginning to flick from side to side.

’Be still, sweet.’ Romani murmured through their internal bond. The last thing that she wanted the tigress to attempt was to attack this beautiful dragon. That wouldn’t do to welcome their guests. It was then that the wolf-horse spoke up, and the palomino’s ears swiveled forward, sharp eyes resting upon his tawny colored body.

“I see… It’s quite alright, good sir,” The warrior responded cordially and with a warm smile, remembering all etiquette that had ever been forced upon her back in Ossic Briar, her homeland, “No worries, you aren’t intruding. It’s quite an honorable thing, escorting someone to a new land.” It was when he continued that her gaze drifted to the Unicorn mare, head tilting somewhat. Boltar had invited her into the herd? While familiar with the name, the Haflinger had yet to grow more acquainted with the said stallion. Romani’s smile then grew, and she bowed her head downwards in a respectful tip of her head to both the wolf-horse and Nadira. “It’s good to meet you, Nadira. I am Romani, warrior of the Foothills, and this is Kasai, my companion.” She paused, tipping her elegant head even lower to motion towards the cub that still sat at her forelegs. “You’re more than welcome to join our home.”

Her smile grew with honesty. Their numbers seemed to grow every day, but it was always a wonderful event to gain a new herd member, a new part of their growing family. Hopefully, this Nadira would enjoy her time here, as Romani herself had learned to do. Maybe they could become friends, she and this mare made of snow…

OPHELIA & TINEK</style>
Heavens ablaze in our eyes, we're standing still in time

Ophelia was lost, but the silver dragon who now happily (somewhat) trailed ahead of her was not. She found, suddenly, that the creature could communicate with her in his own way. He chattered nonsensically in her mind and shared with her visions of a history she did not realize was her own. Colors, images, pictures and shapes shoved through her head all at once, but he settled finally when he realized that was listening. That she could listen. Naturally, the crimson-eyed bat sought out the only pair he truly knew, Osiris and Comadre. The hairy horse and his charcoal friend would be able to tell his bond-mate what had happened, of course. Perhaps his reasons were selfish too; he wanted to see Comadre, the elder dragon whom he modeled himself after.

A happy trill moved past his lips, but Ophelia was much more unsettled. She was viewing the rolling hills, dotting with thick pines for the first time. Tinek shoved pictures of her walking this very path before, and she barely believed her mind. Still, from all that she had seen and done, should she really be surprised that she had forgotten? The silver dragon knew who he was looking for, so perhaps she knew them too - once upon a time before selfish desires and misery came to capture her again.

Tinek saw the pair ahead, and he flew faster, letting out an excited trill to the black dragon. He was growing, and he was a rather large baby now. Silver claws grasped onto a tree limb overhead, and he swung upside down, swinging back and forth excitedly. Ophelia had never seen the dragon look so happy before, so she hesitantly followed, dual colored eyes taking in the small group. Inhaling a brave breath, she pushed closer, though shyness caused her to stay slightly at the fringes. She had no interest whatsoever and hurting anymore beings who knew who, but the dragon was insistent.

Two mares and one stallion stood on front of her. One of the males looked to be half wolf, and she regarded him curiously, fascinated by his structure. After peeling her eyes away, she noted that a pale unicorn, stunningly beautiful was among the group, and the chestnut mare was attractive too. The other stallion seemed pleasant enough, and their tones were cordial. Ophelia's tulip ears tilted to the side uncertainly, cloven hooves moving cautiously forward. "I am sorry he interrupted," she murmured quietly. "He was persistent."

She did not even know the dragon's name.

The small mare's introduction is a kick in Osiris's side, reminding him that while he spoke with manners, his were still sorely lacking as he had failed to introduce himself properly. It would be a bit awkward with the flow of the conversation, so the hybrid remains quiet, only nodding at appropriate intervals and allowing Nadira to get a better look at her herdmate. The golden mare does not seem as bothered by his feral appearance as Osiris once guessed, but the stallion who leaves might have been. The wolf chooses not to appear bothered by his polite and rather quiet exit, turning his focus mainly upon the lady of the Foothills as she speaks. The words are cordial, kind even, but are laced with a power that would become a warrior. Osiris suspects that this Romani might be a guardian of the land. If so, he would be leaving Nadira in good company, a relief to him.

Golden eyes glance downward toward the little figurine of perfect white porcelain, noticing with a bit of chagrin that while her face is calm and peaceful, Nadira looks anything but happy. The wolf did not know how to cheer up the little dove, not having known her for long at all, but distractions tended to come at favorable times for the wolf. Just as the silence had taken hold of the group, Comadre's voice sails through the air in an all too familiar greeting. "Ooooofffffffeeeeee," he bellows, leaping off Osiris's shoulder with an excited trill and flying into the air, meeting with the silver dragon halfway, his clawed hands outstretched to grab onto Tinek for a strange embrace. The dragon's violet eyes look concerned almost immediately, darting from the silver back down toward Ophelia.

Osiris himself turns to see the other white unicorn mare. Embarrassed almost immediately, knowing that Nadira had been called by Ophelia's name during their meeting recently. He wondered if seeing the mare belonging to the delicate name in the flesh would make her feel flattered or angered, but the wolf had always thought that Ophelia was a graceful sort of beauty. Nadira, too, held the same sort, but the red-tipped unicorn he knew was obviously more lithe and tall, adorned with fascinatingly colored eyes and accompanied by the silver dragon Tinek, whom Comadre flies beside now.

"Tinek has always been rambunctious," Osiris says in response to Ophelia's words, giving her a small smile as an acceptance of her apologies. "This is the first time I've ever heard you apologize for it." He laughs slightly, giving the mare the comfortable warmth she appeared to need to draw closer. The golden eyes still look toward her deep set stones of sapphire and ruby questioningly, for normally the mare had no qualms about waltzing in on Osiris's conversations. There was something off about the look in her eyes, and the way they gazed at him as if he were nothing but a stranger. A very unique stranger. Comadre lands upon the wolf's back, motioning toward Tinek to join him with an outstretched arm before giving his bonded very sharp eyes.

Something is very wrong with her, he says in the chasms of their shared mind. The dragon had not had to tell him, though. He had been thinking about Ophelia, but this was not the mare he had been hoping to see in the Threshold.

it has come to pass...

With the clouds avoiding showing themselves, NADIRA welcomed the warmth the sun bestowed upon her. The golden warrior introduced herself as Romani. A rightful calling, the unicorn mare thought. And her… companion? So that explained Comadre. These critters that clung to these other equines she was meeting were companions. She wasn’t quite sure if that was a gift or a curse. Having something always in your shadow, taking care of it she could only assume was a great responsibility. Something she did not need at this point in time. Not with her uncertainty as to where exactly she belonged. Having been thrown into Helovia with no warning hadn’t exactly been her cup of tea. So she would bide her time, and see how things played out.

Kasai was a little cuter than Comadre, but being the little dragon had been the first companion she had been introduced to, she had a special place for him, just like his bonded. Osiris would always be a dear friend. She was just grateful enough to have his company along. She could see it bothered him and for whatever reason, she wished she knew why. The white cub matched her coloring, except for the stripes that binded the little girl.

"Thank you, Romani. A befitting name to be called."

She was about to inquire of the lands and the herd life, but another trill rang clear as a bell. A sure sign more company to follow. She watched Comadre come to life and followed the creature to the long awaited meeting, it seemed, between the two dragons, contrasting in pigments. NADIRA glanced over at Osiris first, to comprehend his response, and he appeared to be startled and a little flustered. Out of his element even more so now. And with a quizzical expression, she turned her piercing azul pools onto her twin. Or so it the evidence spoke, except for the scarlet that inked the tips of the unicorn mare’s tassels. Her orbs too, were duo tone.

Intriguing, she pondered. So this was whom Osiris had mistaken her for. Besides her height, NADIRA could hold nothing against the wolf creature. At least the comparison was not belittling, but flattering to her. The milky mare listened between the conversation of the newcomer and Osiris, keeping with respect and curiosity. But something was missing. NADIRA was a sensitive creature, and she never could understand why she was susceptible to feeling the slight and most subtle uneasiness between others, but she could. It didn’t mean she could read thoughts, or automatically know what was wrong, she was not that gifted. But she was well aware of her surroundings, and took care to know these things. It had kept her safe. A superb quality to possess when you were hunted.

Slightly tipping her façade in recognition of the taller version of herself, she gave a warming smile. She dared not embarrass poor Osiris with recollections of his misunderstandings earlier that day, confusing one for the other. She would leave that for another day perhaps. When things were not so awkward.

"You and your silver dragon are most welcome. I am Nadira."

Romani

Nadira seemed like a kind soul. A pretty and gentle thing, Romani hoped that she would be a good match for the Foothills and be proud to call the equally beautiful place her home. The Haflinger had grown to love it herself… Perhaps this ivory Unicorn could do the same?

’Thank you, Romani. A befitting name to be called.’ Nadira’s melodic voice complimented her and Romani’s head dipped slightly in both embarrassment and thanks. They had just met, after all, and there was no reason that Nadira had to compliment her… Yet she had. Perhaps a friendship could be born from this meeting?

“And thank you, Nadira, your words are kind. If you have any questions regarding the Foothills, I would be honored to answer them.” Before any more words between the three could be shared, her ears were captured by the sound of another trill, and the appearance of another unicorn and dragon duo. She looked remarkably similar to Nadira, save the crimson tresses adorning her mane, but it was obvious that they didn’t know one another. Tilting her head slightly, the warrior appraised the mare with soft blue eyes, trying to decided if she was a threat or not. Her kind words, however, seemed to put Romani at ease, and she smiled, nodding in agreement with Both Nadira and Osiris.

“Yes, madam, you’re most welcome to join us. I am Romani, and this is Kasai.” The said cub, for the life of her, looked absolutely delighted that not only one dragon, but two had decided to pay the Foothills a visit. Perhaps they would be so kind as to play with her? Letting out a small, growling meow for attention, the cub stood upon her padded feet, tail flicking left and right as she regarded the two dragon’s with soft-blue eyes.

Ophelia lifted her head, started as a charcoal dragon suddenly rushed to the tree, screeching part of her name. She furrowed her brows and tensed her body uncertainly, looking between the strange, wolfish stallion and his black dragon. The silver dragon who named himself Tinek embraced the black tightly, a frown on his scaled features. Something was wrong, and Tinek chattered to Comadre in a hushed whisper, trying to tell his friend that his bond mate remembered nothing. However, Tinek was still a baby, and even his ability to speak dragon was pathetic.

Yellow eyes stared at her, masculine words reminding her of nothing. She stared at him with a mixture of terror and agony, once again reminded that she would hurt another one of her friends. Who was he? How did he know her? So many questions ran through her head, and none of them were pleasant. Ophelia could not face another and hurt them again. She could not disappoint someone else. Her heart raced in her chest, and Tinek started from his chattering with Comadre, staring down and his bond mate.

Ophelia's body tensed, and she rocked onto her hind, cloven hooves. Nadira's kind words of invitation and Romani's friendly welcome were spoken as if underwater. All she could think of now was that disappointing another unknown acquaintance would be too much. Something about the way he spoke to her, looked at her, told her that she would be unable to hide behind a false personality; he would not believe her if she lied. Dual colored eyes danced between the trio, and finally, heart pounding, she took three steps backward.

"I am sorry. I do not remember any of you." she whispered, obviously upset. "I cannot remember." Ophelia turned on her haunches and ran south to the Deep Forest, not stopping until she felt safe in the trees - alone.

Tinek stayed next to Comadre and lowered his spined head, and he glanced sadly into Osiris' eyes with his own bloody ones. Finally, with a small, friendly nudge to Comadre's shoulder and a respectful nod to the half wolf, he unfurled leathery wings and followed his troubled bond mate.

Even as the other mares in his company spoke, golden eyes stay locked upon the delicate face of Ophelia. Those eyes, feral like a dog, kept locked upon the small white frame, trying to garner what her ailment was. It was as if someone else had taken her body and strode forth, but with Tinek close in tow speaking to Comadre, it was a hard chance that they were being fooled by imposters. The bond between a companion and master would recognize no such charlatan as their other half, and therefore, the wolf was left perplexed. There was no escaping the thought that she was changed, that she was not Ophelia, yet the silver dragon which soared with Comadre chained him to the blatant fact she was.

The loss of familiarity as she looked at him ripped at his heart like claws. Surely, a face such as his would not be so easily forgotten. Keeping his sorrows from his face, he simply watches, catching the last strands of honeyed words welcoming her into their small gathering. Comadre sits quietly with Tinek, huddling close and offering support to the young silver dragon, Osiris noticing the small weight added but hardly feeling it. His entire body felt numb, not being recognized by the one in this land who had known him the longest. This was the mare he had sworn allegiance to, but she could not even look at him with knowing eyes. He was a stranger, pinned between two acquaintances and a friend who could not remember his name. Feeling dumb, empty, rather at a loss for words, Osiris's ear cocks back uncertainly.

The anxiety creeps over the ice of Ophelia's face as well, claiming both her eyes, blue and crimson, setting her face into emotional knots that pulled harder on Osiris's heart - pain. He knew it well, and the sharp sting of her face contorted in that agony almost made him move, but not quickly enough. Were it not for his sharp hearing, the whispered words she spoke from behind tight lips during her retreat might have been missed. I do not remember any of you. Golden eyes widen and he takes a step toward her, only to see her turn tail. I cannot remember. Tinek lifts off next, following the racing form of her body, and Osiris leaps forward as well, stopping only when he realizes that chasing her is foolish.

"Ophelia!" he calls after her, a large baritone holler that bounces off the trees and echoes on the ground, worried but warm. "Damn it," he whispers to himself, turning to view back over his shoulder at the two mares who he have expected to be gawking at the scene. Comadre's gentle purple eyes are what meets him instead, his face falling slightly. "Do not worry, Osiris. She will be friends again," a toothy smile guides him back toward the other pair, his head lowered but his face calm. "We will just have to teach her that we are good again." The small black crawls along the wolf's neck, latching onto the poll and giving him an embrace. "You are right." The words are said only to the dragon, but plenty loud enough for the other two to hear in this small gap.

He lifts his head, the dragon losing balance and being tossed rather haphazardly in the air, catching himself on leathery wings. "Following her now will do no good," he says to them, as if to quell their worries. "Romani, would you be willing to give Nadira a tour of this land? I have family I wish to visit in the area, and I need not drag you two with me." Perhaps the comfort of the wolves would soothe his soul.
