Technically, Gaucho was a part of the Dragon’s Throat. He didn’t really feel like one though, as far as his primitive feelings were concerned, anyways. He had been ‘claimed’ by a stallion called Levi, who he had later sparred with. But upon entering the Throat, not a single soul came down to meet him - to inquire as to why he was there, or what his intentions were. He could have been a spy, or a threat, and they would have been none the wiser. He had intended to meet their leader, and see what his job ought to be within the herd, but never had the chance. Very well, he would go out on a scouting mission on his own then, see what there was to see, and perhaps once he returned again, there would be more of a reception.

Gaucho was a towering figure, standing 17.2hh, with a muscular Hanoverian build. He was quite a handsome creature, in a primitive and rough-around-the-edges sort of way. His mane and tail were luxuriously long, if not a little unkempt. He sported primitive barring on his shoulders and thighs, as well as black dorsal stripe between his two massive black wings. All along his body were odd tribal markings, appeared to be smeared on with war paint, the colour of dried blood. On his hip was what appeared to be a hand print, amongst other random splatters. The other notable marking he sported, was a ring of ray-like strokes around his left eye, painted a pale yellow. The only other striking feature to note, was that there was a bone driven through the soft cartilage of his nose.

As he moved, his steely blue eyes surveyed the area with a calculated interest. Always looking for traps and points which would be good strategic points for battle later on, Gaucho actually appeared to be intelligently categorizing the area. Not that the bay was dumb, by any means, but nor was he a great conversationalist. Gaucho was primitive and primal, speaking only when necessary, and valuing his skills as a warrior above all else. So you see, it isn’t that he’s slow, or unintelligent, merely that he’s focused his efforts growing up on different priorities; ones that do not typically include good hygiene, or social skills.

As he moved, his large ears pricked forward, hearing something in the distance. Narrowing his eyes he directed himself towards the sound. It almost sounded like...chanting? With a grunt, he cantered up the incline, briefly losing himself in the cloudy cover, before finally breaking into the Fields. There, laying unassumingly, appeared to be a large rack of elk antlers. As he neared, he found that they were faintly glowing, and as unintuitive as it seemed, were the cause of the chanting. With a grunt and no thought of fear, the brute lowered his muzzle towards the antlers, snorting as he did so. As soon as his head was lowered, magically the antlers leaped into the air, affixing themselves to his brow. With a sharp whinny, Gaucho reared up, tossing his head and yet feeling no movement from the antlers. Grunting again, he picked up a gallop tossing his head furiously as he did so. His primitive mind did not understand what had happened; what evil spirit was punishing him. Sliding to a stop, he lowered his head, grating the spines of the antlers deep into the ground. It was only once he saw the immense scars he had carved into the earth, that he realized that perhaps this was a gift, rather than a punishment. Pausing, he considered what an invaluable weapon these antlers could be.

He also realized he felt...something. A buzzing within his soul? He couldn’t name it, but it felt dark and immense, like an ocean at midnight.

Ayaka sniffed the air as the sun beat down on her golden red pelt. Her eyes like fire observed the land and put a smile on white lined lips. She loved the heat and she loved the Heavenly Fields. It was such a beautiful place and it always made Ayaka feel happy. She remembered when she had gone to the Dragons Throat to request to join. She had met a fairly nice stallion named Levi greeted her. She had loved the Throat ever since she had entered Helovia. It was so beautiful and it reminded her of her old pack territory. She loved it. The feeling of sand between her paws and the sun warming her back. It all put a wag in her tail. All she needed to do was talk with Kri, in order to join. She hoped that she would except her for a wolf, and not see her as a threat and drive her off.

Although she was not the tallest wolf, Ayaka was quite strong. If she was weak how could she have survived by herself for over four mouths? Her was born with a frail frame and was very swift on her feet. Her pelt was a beautiful mixture of earthy colors. Tan, brown red, with black guard hairs stained her pelt. Her eyes were like fire, glowing orange and full of life. Her eyes were gentle looking and had a round shape. The only white part of her whole body was her lips that were lightly lined with white. Her muzzle was sly and she had a pointed nose. The body was agile and seemed to be very frail, but don’t let her looks deceive you.

The she-wolf pranced around the open field. A smile on her maw and calmness overwhelmed her body. Observing the land, she saw something unlike she had ever seen in her life. What the hell? She thought. It appeared to be a horse, a Pegasus to be exact. This was not normal Pegasus though. It had antlers! How the hell did that Pegasus get antlers? They seemed to glow and shiny bringing more wonder to the fae. He also had strange markings. It seemed as if there was blood smeared and stained onto his pretty bay coat. He also had a bone through his nose. She wondered how he could have possibly done that.

Taking a step forward, she decided to go introduce herself to the strange stallion. She briskly trotted over to him. When she was directly in front of him, she pinned her ears back and tucked her tail in-between her legs to she respect to the huge horse. “Hello there. I am Ayaka, who are you?” She said. Her maw had a gentle smile are her eyes were fixed onto his beautiful blue grey orbs. He was a quite handsome, for being a horse that is. She hoped that he would not be afraid of her almost like all the other horses she had met.

This sensation within his chest was so odd - it tingled and transformed, seeming to full up each and every aspect of him. Magic.. His mind seemed to whisper, correctly identifying the feeling. Tossing his head again, he realized that there seemed to be something caught between the spines of the rack, although he could not see what. Later, when he would look into a clear stream, he would see that it was actually a dream catcher, with an abundance of beads and feathers bound to to the leather web. Even later, he would find out that the beads would glow, when his new magic was used. Already his neck felt a little sore, unused to this new weight that he must support. Mentally, he made a note to exercise some how, so that these new weapons would continue to be a blessing, rather than a burden.

Out of the corner of his steely blue gaze, he saw a blur of deep red streak by. Snorting, he abruptly turned into the direction Ayaka was heading, nostrils flaring. WOLF His mind shouted, as a snarl braced his lips. While wolves were revered for their spiritual prowess where he came from, he knew that many would try and attack horses if they felt they could get a quick meal out of it. Still Gaucho, was about 10 hands taller than the wolf, and could easily crush the beast with a well aimed kick from his massage hooves - Or from antlers, he pondered, again tossing his head as he pranced aggressively toward the approaching wolf.

As Ayaka lowered her tail and pinned her ears back respectfully, some of Gaucho's aggression seemed to fade away. Hello there. I am Ayaka, who are you? With a grunt, Gaucho inspected the creature carefully; his steely blue gaze washing over her. Everyone in Helovia was so conversational Was this really such a safe land, that creatures came and went, conversing with whomever they encountered? It was so different than from where he had come from. "I am Gaucho." He replied, his voice sounding deep and resonating, though unsure of the words. He knew his name well enough, but when it came to more complex sentences, he was at a loss. Gaucho was a fighter, skilled in battle and in death…he hadn't really had anyone invest too heavily in developing his skills as conversationalist, friend, or acquaintance in general. As his nostrils flared, taking in the wolf's scent, the bone moved within his nostrils, ticking the fine hairs there. With a sneeze, Gaucho noted that the creature didn't inherently smell like the Throat, his current home. But…he couldn't quite place her scent. He needed to do more investigating of Helovia, to know it's sights and smells. Tossing his newly-antlered head once again, he looked down at the wolf, head tilted inquisitively, as if expecting her to lead the conversation.

The rusty pelted she-wolf could scents that the bay stallion was weary at her, like all the others she had met. She wondered why though, she really was not that mean. She had never even tried to bite or scratch a horse aggressively, unless she was in a spar that is. The fae wondered if he had ever met another wolf before. And if he did, was it aggressive and was that why he was a little nervous about her. The face of Orinthia popped into her mind. When she had met her in the Threshold, she was absolutely terrified of her. She soon learned that it was because her old herd was attacked by a pack of wolves. The lupa still could not get why though. Why would anything want to hurt something as beautiful and graceful as a horse?

I am Gaucho.

The words rung in her ears and made her other thoughts and memories disappear. A smile crossed her maw as she lifted up her head to get a good look at his face. He was so tall, taller than any horse she had ever seen. The bone that was stuck in-between his nostrils wiggled around as he seemed to be taking note of her scent. Ayaka did the same. Scents prickled at her wet black nose telling her all about the Pegasus stallion that stood in front of her. If her smelling was correct, he smelled just like the Throat. Perhaps that is where he resides? Did he live in the same place as Ayaka longed to live in? The memories of the beautiful desert struck her mind. It reminded her of home. Her old home that is.

“It is a pleasure to meet you Gaucho.” Ayaka said bowing her head to the large stallion. She looked again at his strange tribal markings. The blood red splatters reminded her of the rocks at the bottom of the pool in the Deep Forest. The made her wonder, but still so draw to them. It was quite cool if she had to admit. The sun like tan marking that surrounded his eyes was pretty cool also. The way is split into little rays that made his silver blue eyes stand out. His mane and tail also caught her eye. They were so long and unkempt but still attractive. As she continued to observe and take mental notes of Gaucho, she waited for him to reply.

Gaucho didn't understand language very well - preferring to speak in body language and the language of battle. Even so, apparently he was going to have to learn; all the creatures around here seemed hell-bent on chit-chatting. It is a pleasure to meet you Gaucho. Frowning he didn't quite understand all of the words, but assumed what her general meaning must have been. "Pleasure to meet Ayaka" He parroted, mimicking the words.

Although Gaucho was new to the Dragon's Throat, he had immediately immersed himself in the herds' scent, so that he would easily be able to identify other members without being formally introduced. While the wolf possessed a decidedly canine odour, he also believed he detected the dusty and metallic scent of the Throat on her as well. Curiously, he tilted his head slightly, and lowered his massive skull down to her level. Flaring his nostrils, he drew in her scent once again, becoming even more sure that he scented the Throat on her. Was she in his herd? Had she come onto their lands, and been run off? Or had she simply bumped into someone who carried their scent? One of the sar-gents like Aryel, or Levi?

"Throat?" he asked curiously, raising his muzzle away from her, and peering down with interest. If she was from the Throat, perhaps she would spar with him? He had never sparred with a wolf before...would it be easy? Or would she have the advantage, being able to bite and tear at his legs and belly? He thought of Aryel - so delicately built and small - and wondered if she would fair better or worse against a wolf. Thinking on it brought a gruesome smile to his lips - he loved nothing more than battle, and testing his skills against others. Truly, it was all he knew.

[Hey, they don't all have to be long! :P]

Ayaka could tell Gaucho did not really understand the same language as she did, judging by the frown he put on his face when she was finished talking. Perhaps he was born on a different island and traveled over to Helovia or something? Maybe could not all horses understand wolves that well? They did seem to be astonished that she could talk to them clearly, but maybe she was not using the right tongue at the moment? Gaucho then said, Pleasure to meet Ayaka. The tan she-wolf smiled. Now she knew. He spoke battle language.

The fae could easily tell that he was part of the Throat. Just by taking a breath, the scent of the desert flooded her nose. Not that that was a bad thing though. She liked the smell. It was what she was used to. The stale and dry scent of sand that stuck onto animal’s pelts, it smelled earthy and quite lovely, to her that is. She had chosen not to get too much of the scent onto her hide yet, for she still had to be accepted by the leader, Kri. She could hardly wait meet her, but it would be hard to find her because Levi had told her that they were training for battle. The lupa loved to spar and wanted to help them, so she would not give up trying to find her.

Throat? Gaucho asked her. She was pretty sure that he meant was she part of the Throat. She never did get battle language, but she hoped that she was reading him good. “I am not part of the Throat… Yet that is. I need to go find Kri and ask her if i can join.” Ayaka replied. The sun continued to beam down and strike her pelt, giving her a nice feeling of warmth. How she loved the heat. That was another reason why she had loved the Throat. The small black guard hairs on her back shimmered in the sun’s bright rays making her fur look very light. Her nose wriggled smelling the fresh air of Tall Sun. What a beautiful scent. Her fiery gems scanned the flat field with awe. Her white lips curved into a smile and her ears shoved forward to hear the beautiful songs that the tiny birds hummed. She turned her attention back to Gaucho and waited for him to respond.

A confused look graced Gaucho's stoic features. Who is Kri? he wondered. Was she their leader? Gaucho had only met three residents of the Throat so far, yet Levi had accepted him automatically in the Threshold, without even a moments notice. Why did this wolf need permission, and he didn't? Was it because she was a wolf? Or that he was a pegasus? Grunting as he tried to think, he recalled that he had seen many pegasi' in the Throat, and almost nothing else. Aryel, Levi, and Midas had all been winged, perhaps it was simply a right of his breed, that he could join the Throat? Even so, he stored the name Kri for later investigation. If even if did not need her permission to join the Throat, he would still like to meet his queen, and swear his allegiance in person.

"I no-no Kri - either" He admitted with a shrug, looking down at the wolf. He found that he liked this creature - although she surely knew more words than he did, he found he could still understand her relatively easily. He also liked the idea of sparring with another species. If she wanted to be a part of the Throat, did she also want to be a warrior? Or simply to dwell in the warmth of the desert? Tilting his head, the antlers feeling more and more comfortable on his skull, he snorted. "Gaucho warrior. Ayaka warrior? Ayaka spar?"

Looking around, the Heavenly Fields, while incredibly warm given their altitude, would make a fine place to spar. The ground was soft and lush, and the area that they were in was relatively flat. He felt rising excitement as he considered battle, always liking a challenge. Looking back down to the wolf, his steely gaze cast over her soft russet fur. Even if she was looking to be a warrior, not every creature was constantly looking for practise, as Gaucho was.

Ayaka wondered what Kri was like. She was probably a strong and wise leader. Well, she would have to be in order to rule a herd. Perhaps did she not like other animals other than horses and that’s why Levi had told her that they needed to find Kri for her to join. Would she try to kill Ayaka right on the spot? Maybe she would be more like Levi, concerned if she was a threat but then warm up to her. Kind of like Gaucho too. She wondered if he had met Levi and gotten along with him.

As Gaucho spoke she nodded her head. “Yes, Levi said that she is very busy. Do you know Levi?” She questioned him? She remembered his grullo coat and how he had told her that he was sergeant. He seemed like a good warrior and be very into his work. She hoped that one day she would get a rank up, if she joined a herd. But starting at a warrior or even just a citizen was good enough. She would eventually get better, and hopefully get a rank up. But living in dreams and thoughts is not the same as reality.

"Gaucho warrior. Ayaka warrior? Ayaka spar?" The large stallion asked the frail she-wolf. A sly smile crossed her muzzle when he asked about a spar. She loved spars. “I am not a warrior yet, but I would love to spar!” She squealed. The imaged of blood being shed and teeth and hooves thrashing claimed her mind. She was defiantly not the violent type, but she loved spars. It was kind of strange to think about, but she just loved the thrill of fighting.

The grass on the ground gave her paws temporary stains of green as the sun rained upon her. She loved the scent of sweet grass and the sight of never ending plains with mountains that seemed unreachable made her doze into her wonders and memories. She looked up at the warrior Gaucho. His long and messy mane and tai and his strange markings. She wondered if he was born with them, or if he had somehow been painted or granted with them. She soon found herself lost in her thoughts again.

As she spoke of Levi, Gaucho nodded with understanding and comprehension. He did indeed know the grulla stallion; it was he who found Gaucho in the Threshold, and immediately offered him a position in the Throat. At this moment, the bay stallion was unsure as to whether Levi had valued him as a warrior, or simply wanted to swell the numbers of his herd. Either way, Gaucho was becoming more and more comfortable with the idea of having been recruited to the Throat. Perhaps he would be wholly convinced should he have the opportunity to meet this Kri.

"Gaucho know Levi. Levi sar-gent - say Gaucho is for Dragon's Throat." Gaucho grunted, nodding as he formulated the words. Perhaps he and Ayaka could meet with Kri together? However as the she-wolf spoke, agreeing to spar with him, his entire focus changed. A primitive happiness gripped him, as the thrill of battling with such a mobile and different species took over his brain. He saw Ayaka in a new light now, taking in her lithe body, the teeth hidden beneath her snout, and the fierce jaws she must have.

“Ayaka?” The brute called out to the fae. Hearing his voice made Ayaka feel a little better, knowing that he was still on the other side of the wall of flames. Her heart was still racing although the fight was over. The burns of her own flames on her back had cooled down and started to hurt a little less. The flames began to die out and she could soon see the massive face and neck of Gaucho. He was ok. She hoped that none of the flames that she had not directed towards him, but shot them to the ground, had not hurt him. Her tongue hung from her blood stained maw as she gazed at Gaucho to see the wounds that she had created. A bite mark on his neck and the harsh gash she had made to his shoulder. The scratch and bite mark on his side seemed to stand out the most, at least to her. His body was full of sweat , but mysteriously, the strange tribal markings on him seemed clean and untouched by a cut or by sweat. How she wished that she could sweat through her whole body. Unfortunately, wolves and other canines could only sweat through their soft paw pads. This just put her in more heat than she already was.

The lupa wondered what Gaucho could really do to an animal if he had really hated it and wanted to kill it. He could do more damage that she could have ever thought a horse could do. It he really wanted to hurt her, he could have easily just trapped her underneath his hooves and crushed her by this. Since he was so big, there would have been no way out. And others thought that wolves were dangerous! Horses were bigger and could kill you with one swipe with a hoof. With wolves, it took time and effort to make a kill. Unless the animal was smaller than them that is. If he had been smaller, or even the size that the other wolf she had met named Lupus, she could had easily just grabbed his neck and dig her long fangs into his soft flesh until they struck his jugular vein. That was the quickest was for a wolf to make a kill.

Now the flames were totally out and black lined the place where she had set on fire. Her legs by now were fighting to keep her standing and her wound was still bleeding. “I always thought that I might have a chance against a horse in a fight… Until now that is. You were truly my hardest opponent yet, Gaucho.” She smiled. Letting her exhausted legs win and she placed her rump onto the ground, letting her limbs relax. Her eyes that were usually lively like real flames now looked flat and just a dull orange. The sun beamed down and seemed to bake her internally. She gave her gash on the shoulder a tender lick, freeing it from any bacteria that might have lingered onto it. She then pointed her sly muzzle back to the figure of Gaucho.

While he was glad that Ayaka had agreed to spar with him, he was never the less equally glad that it was over. The sun's rays were gruelling and unyielding, not to mention the pain he felt in his thick neck from where her jaws had torn into him, was incredible. He would have to remember that the Heavenly Fields were not the best place to spar, at least not this early into Tallsun. Then again, given the she-wolf's ability to howl fire, he supposed that it would be a hot-fight, regardless of where she was. As the wall of flames began to die down, Gaucho sighed with relief to see that Ayaka was still in one piece. He had a tendency to get carried away during spars, and only realized half-way through their fight how easily he could wound her, when his attacks landed where he intended.

As she spoke, Gaucho snorted quietly, making an effort to follow and comprehend her words. His eyes narrowed as she spoke, intently listening, while his lips seemed to move, as it repeating the words as she said them. When she finished, he shook his large head, stepping forward into the burned grass, and lowering his muzzle down to her height. "Ayaka make fire" He uttered, his deep voice sounding impressed. Nodding, as if to reassure her that she was a worthy opponent, his steely blue eyes surveyed her wounds carefully. "Ayaka true warrior" He said with a smile. She was a creature of extreme speed, and her teeth and claws were weapons far more powerful that any he possessed - they could rip and tear at flesh in a way that he had never experienced before. He was glad to have had this experience with her, for it would be an invaluable lesson should he ever face a wolf again. That, and he was pleased to know that such a true warrior was going to be apart of the Throat alongside him.

As she cleaned her wounds, Gaucho tilted his head inquisitively. "Healer?" He asked, wondering if she felt it necessary to visit the Throat's healer to aid her recovery or not.

Ayaka’s thoughts were driven to when Gaucho made those shadowy figures appear from the dream-catcher. How did he do that? They all looked so… so beautiful but yet seemed deadly. She knew that they did not kill her, but still they had that ghastly smoke rising from their bodies. The blue haziness that made up the whole figure, and the look of death in their foggy eyes. It gave her the chills. The bear that came out of his dream-catcher impressed her the most. Its face was bold and wise face had two orbs that looked determined and ready to pounce on her at any given moment. The feeling when she bit is was like anything she had felt before. A breeze that seemed to freeze her bones for the longest minutes in her life came out of his body with her nip. His antlers, to her, seemed like a prize weapon. The way they had stolen her breath and gashed her side.

The words that came from Gaucho’s maw made her eyes light up as he walked forward and put his head down to her size. Her a warrior? She had never thought of herself as a warrior. She had only done two spars, one with Lupus and the other with Gaucho. She did not really know how to fight that well yet, but Gaucho on the other paw was experienced. If anything, he was a true warrior. She never thought an animal could fight like that until now that is. She thought that maybe that fighting a horse would be as easy as killing a deer, quick and simple to take down. “Thanks Gaucho. You are much more than a good warrior, thou. You are a great warrior.” The fae said while swaying her tail back and fourth in a friendly way. Her maw grew a gentle smile. The lupa thought that the steed was very kind and she was happy to be in the same herd with such a fighter.

Healer? The bay stallion asked her. The rustic she-wolf glanced at her wounds. They didn’t seem that bad. They would recover fine by time she hoped. “On, I don’t need a healer. I’ll be fine.” She did not want to waste a healer’s time on something that would recover on its own in a week or two.
