I'm through accepting limits / 'cause someone says they're so.





Aryel wasn't sure what kept bringing her back to the Threshold. So far, it seemed that every time she came here she was met by snappish, arrogant creatures, usually unicorns. The pegasus had been trying to not let these experiences cloud her view of the horned equines, instead attempting to remember the much friendlier unicorns of her native Redrock valley. Here, though, it seemed they were all racist, ignorant brutes.

The soft sound of crying caused her ears to prick, pausing midstride. Whoever had made that cry sounded young, very young. Concern began to stir in her chest as the blue roan swiveled her ears back and forth, trying to pinpoint the sound. She was unsure if pursuing it, though. She recalled the pink-maned unicorn that she had met by following a shout, only to be ridiculed. But she had been a full-grown adult. This horse might just be a kid, and the wild was no place for a foal alone. At the very least, she decided, she would find out what was wrong. With a decisive snort, she trotted in the general direction of the voice, eyes straining to pick up any sign of movement among the trees.

When she first saw the colt, her eyes simply slid over it, mistaking his black body for another patch of shadow. Then the shadow moved slightly, drawing her attention to the electric-blue markings he possessed. She drew closer, lowering her head to be level with the foal in an attempt to seem less intimidating, stopping a few feet from the foal. He was obviously distraught about something, and a motherly instinct stirred in the diminutive warrior, a desire to help this little one. "What's the matter?" she asked quietly, hoping she wouldn't startle the foal.

"blah blah blah."


Some things I cannot change / but until I try I'll never know.
