Cera's sobs hurt Note more than any cut or bruise he had ever had. He didn't want to watch the colt grow up to be timid and scared because of what that fool - d'Artagnan - had done to the innocent babe. The colt hadn't seemed to have done anything wrong, therefore he needed no punishment of this sort. So why had this stallion marked Cera in this cruel, cruel way?

Note lifted his head to Cera's soft, fuzzy brown cheek to wipe away a tear, noticing the hurt that filled his striking green eyes. Cera reminded him almost of himself, except, the colt's scar was one that everyone would be able to see. Forever.

"But...but that doesn't matter...how are you? I missed you!" Such a facade, but a well played one. Note just prayed he was doing the right thing by playing along...for now. He smiled back at Cera as he pulled his velvet muzzle away from his own. "I missed you too, Cera. Your companion is absolutely adorable," Note said, studying the panda on the colt's back.

He didn't dare look at Cera's scar again. Note had seen the painful look on the colt's face as he described the incident. Every time he had been sad as a colt, his mother had told him a story to make him feel better. After all, who didn't enjoy a good story?

"Cera," Note spoke, his eyes trailing to the ground, "would you like to hear a story?"
