Her mind wandered just as her hooves did, traversing the familiar paths of the past. So it was that she thought him just a memory at first, brought on by travelling the outskirts of a land in which she'd first met him, when he'd called these forests home and not she. But there was something about him that drew her attention, perhaps the fact that he stood without, so quiet and still. It made her pause, gazing through the trees to watch his watching, white-edged ears swiveling forward as he began to turn aside. So he was here.
Quietly she approached, slipping through the shadows and past the trees, until only a dozen strides separated them, and the deep shadows of the trees. "Mauja." She called his name softly, inquisitively. It did not occur to her to be concerned for her safety with him. True, she suspected him of racism, but she also suspected him of a degree of fairness. She had done nothing to harm him or his, beyond taking up residence here to raise the Sun's child. "It has been a long time." This she observed as she stepped closer, waiting to see if he would linger to speak with her, or leave.
