Melodic and familiar, a dragon's song invaded his ears and brought them angling to locate the source, sufficient warning before an equally familiar weight settled upon his withers. The skin beneath the little queen's talons twitched, but he didn't allow her merry chatter and attempt to distract him deter from his catch. Only once the last scale was dislodged and directed down his throat did the stallion bend his head around to greet the lovely gold with a rumbled greeting and a gentle nose against a gilded wing. Water rippled in the vibrations from the sounds generated deep in his chest, driving the smallest fish to hide around his hooves.

Akaith's diverted gaze lured the hybrid to follow her eyes, quickly spotting his mate leaping from the cliffs in midtransformation. Ears swept forward in keen observation as she plummeted, a golden meteor that defied gravity and the grasping waves before either could claim her. Another low rumble vibrated in his chest as he watched her expertly skim the waves, simple admiration that she had so easily taken to life as a ruler of the skies as well as the earth. It never occured to him to be jealous that her chosen Goddess had given her the ability to step beyond the threshold he represented and be one or the other whenever she wished, instead of forever caught between.

Beneath the waves she dove, and he stirred from his still pose, wings lifting from the still waters. Sand rose in graceful plumes from the pool's bottom, chasing the leading edge upward until gravity began to pull it back down. Light flooded down around his hooves as he flicked his wings upward before flipping them closed against his sides, unintentionally creating a shower of salty droplets to fall upon his back and the dragon perched there. Though he took naught a step, the fishes around him, large and small, fled for safer places amidst the rocks and seaweed. Wise, for it was only moments before he was lured to leave the pool's confines.

His mate came to earth once more upon the sandy shore nearby, teasing him coyly with a glance before feasting simply on a fish she'd snatched from beneath the waves. Watching her luxuriate in the heat of the sand and the sun, stretching out with an inviting glance, he found himself roused from quiet admiration. With some eagerness he waded to shore, a thrumming, crooning rumble escaping his throat as he bent his head to her own. Sand was pushed out of the way of his heavy hooves as he stood over and beside her, protective and possessive all at once. For a brief moment he forgot even the presence of Akaith as he brushed his muzzle against the soft scales of his beloved's neck, breathing in her scent and still emanating that low affectionate croon.

It could be so easy to forget this giant, so careful in his motions and caresses, held all the same passions as the dragons his mate and her bonded embodied, but with the masculine twist of a bronze claiming and defending his mate and nest from all comers. Even if that nest lacked his progeny, and was expansive enough to hold the entire flock. For that was what he was, and she his golden queen, and the nest would, in time, no longer lack that missing note. But for now he relished in her presence, hovering with edge of a hunger that had nothing to do with fish gnawing at him.
