DAENERYS
All I loved, I loved alone.

The pain was excruciating. Daenerys couldn’t remember how she had gotten there, but suddenly she found herself staggering between the trees of the Deep Forest. Her breathing was shallow, nares flared wide and nape dripping with cold sweat. The moon was sat high on the sky, looking down upon the mare with her kind, round face, but Dany hardly noticed anything around her. Heading for the heart of the land, to the large redwood at the center, she let herself drop down by the small, red pond. A groan escaped her, but she clenched her teeth, and for the first time since her son had been conceived, she felt strength growing in her body. With a single distressed whicker, she went into labor, bringing her long awaited son into this world.

Afterward, she rested exhausted on the ground for a moment, but movement at her hinds caused her to raise her head. With warmth in her thistle optics, she looked upon her son, the first-born, as he lay there gathering strength. He was petite, but as she let her muzzle massage his small body, she found him to be otherwise flawless. His skin was pink with white fur, almost transparent and he was infinitely vulnerable as he lay there, gazing up at her with big eyes. Those eyes; they were the spitting image of the ones her late brother Rhaegar had possessed, deep mulberry in color and with kindness in them. Her tongue cleaned him up, he crept closer to her for warmth and they laid there in blessed serenity for a moment.

Then Dany instinctively knew what she must do. With the remnants of her strength, she jolted to her feet, shaking her hide like a dog out of water. Turning her delicate head, she whinnied softly to her son, taking a few steps away from him as encouragement. First, the colt looked puzzled, but then he became aware of his legs and mimicked his dam. It took a couple of attempts for him to stand balanced, and he glanced proudly upon Daenerys before staggering over to her on stiff pillars. Touching his tiny muzzle to her flank, he sought for the source of life, greedily suckling when he reached his target. Dany nuzzled his rump softly, not thinking about anything else but the moment they had together, the exhaustion disappearing out of her conscience. She was strong, for her son, this tiny life that she had breathed air into and given to the world. The calm smile on her lips widened as the tension left her body, only leaving a soft ache, and the moonlight shone upon them, gleaming in their pale hides. For the first time in her life, she was truly happy.

It was a curious thing, this pregnancy. Mirage had known Daenerys was not pregnant when she first arrived upon these lands, her scent had none of the lingering effects of hormones that gave the subtle hints that a mare was carrying another life within her. No, it was soon after that night spent with Viserys that the shadowy mare noticed the change in the pale young femme, and the process by which that change came about had been suggested by her brothers repeatedly; Mirage was loathe to believe it. She loved her siblings, but not like that.

But the proof was before her now, in the form of a leggy crème colt. The mare happy, at least, that Daen found happiness in the birth of her son, and Akaith trilled a colourful greeting above the mare and foal who stood by the ruby-red pool of water. Dragons always did love celebrating births. Mirage, whose shimmering cloak had been hiding her inky bodice amongst the darkness of the night, stepped forth into the moonlight, nape arched as she extended her muzzle to the mare, nickering warmly in her own melodic greetings.

“He is strong, Daenerys.” Her rich, accented voice intoned kindly, her golden eyes appearing lighter than normal under the pearlescent glow of the celestial moon above them. “Like his mother.” Lips twitched into a small smile, but there was a hint of sadness about her demeanour, sadness due to her not being able to help the mare sooner – to save her from the wretched being that was Viserys. “Does he have a name?” Curiously she transferred her gaze to the colt, easily picking the thick family resemblance that was present in both Viserys and Daenerys; and she had to wonder just how long their ancestors had bred this way – she had heard tales of such cultures, and though she would never understand the reasoning completely, she at least understood that for some, it was considered normal.

Proffering her soft, velvet maw to the colt, she wondered if he would be bold enough to stroke it with his miniature little crown. Akaith landed upon her back, chirruping a pleasant song to Daenerys in congratulations; a birth was a birth, a birth of a strong child was something to be celebrated, no matter the extenuating circumstances.

Don't give up on me. My hope, my apathy.
You know it ain't easy, maintaining my belief that we are free

Sounds were caught with perfectly shaped ears in the dead of the night. Stressful, pain, moans. Not to mention the before thud on the ground. Careful hooves placed themselves in the hiding trees. Not daring to make a sound any further. Magenta eyes peacefully glaring at the obvious pregnant mare. Labor she was in. Alone time is what the pale mare needed with her unborn foal but in fear of disturbing the peace Ailith stood still. Closing her eyes to give the poor female privacy. Distorting her hearing to memories as she clenched her teeth in sympathy for the throbbing pain Daenerys was in.
Ailith wasn't exactly obvious, with her pale buckskin hide, but she also wasn't hidden as well in the night as the black mare who would soon arrive. Eventually though the mare finished birthing. The buckskin mare peeked open her eyes carefully to take a look at the progress. There stood a strong colt suckling from her teets. A slow smile crept upon the racist mare. Thank god the new child was pure, or so it seemed. Ailith knew not of the inbred problems with the relationship from mare to stallion but at the moment she could care less.
Some sort of chirping vibrations were caught in her triangles. Eardrums tickling. A dragon appeared as so did a black being. Awkwardly Ailith continued to stand there in a stalking position. Body leaned forward but hooves held back. Almost as if she was ready to run forth and kill them before they seen what was coming. Although that was far from the case, she was about to step forward before the interuption of the black one.

The mare simply held back a little longer. She wasn't a very sociable one at times. A not mentioned fact though was that this mare was being a bit more polite than usual but births were a special time so she held her tongue and refrained from snapping words. The two must know each other by the way the black one addressed her and carried on a conversation.
Ailith stepped in now. Curving her well placed body through the trees into the open. Black hooves stomping the dried ground softly. "She speaks the truth." abruptly interupting the conversation. Mirage had called the child strong, which was true. Already stiffened well managed and working legs. A good coat color. The best species out there. Continuing to name more qualities would become pointless at this point. Ailith stood back and waited for one of the two to snap her head off for being there as a stranger, although she would have much to say to that.

DAENERYS
All I loved, I loved alone.

She was so caught up in the moment, she lost awareness of anything or anyone else than the two of them. It was Akaith’s voice that drew her attention from her son, smiling placidly as Mirage came into view. There was no one she wanted to share this moment with more than her new sister, so she whickered to her quietly as she approached. Dany knew Mirage did not spare many kind thoughts about Viserys, but she hoped that the mare could rejoice no matter the circumstances. She was not disappointed, and she bumped muzzles with the ebony mare in warm greeting. Dany felt a jolt of joy, and she knew what Mirage said was true; just as she had hoped; her son was born with a fire in him, a strength. "Thank you, sister," she said softly, her eyes portraying the pride of a new mother.

Viserys was not in her thoughts anymore, for he could never harm them. His act had been gruesome, but from much pain and despair had come this beautiful child that was now nursing at her side. The colt bore only little resemblance to his father, not as frail and slick, but wholesome and regal, like his late uncle Rhaegar. In time, she hoped they could forget the whole thing, but she knew that questions would come and answers be demanded. Not for a long time, but eventually. Dany then realized that Mirage had voiced a question, and with her gaze directed at her son, she spoke the name that she had decided on long ago. "Ahriman." The god of darkness. He would be everything his namesake was not. While Dany greeted Akaith with a whicker, Ahri had dragged his attention from feeding for a moment. The colt looked at Mirage with wide eyes, reaching out to her as she had to him, bumping his tiny muzzle against her’s. A whinny escaped him, fluffy tail flicking against his rump in sheer joy.

Daenerys had not noticed the buckskin mare until she started moving within the trees. The pale femme raised her head, lobes shifting back and forth, but there was nothing threatening about the approaching equine, so she relaxed. The stranger then proceeded to compliment Ahriman, which of course won her some regard in Dany’s eyes. What kind of mother does not want to see her children praised? "That is very kind, m'lady. I cannot recall if we have met...?" she spoke in her melodic voice, Ahriman turning his small head to look at the newcomer too. He felt that his mother was not as familiar with this mare as she had been with the former, so he stayed close with her, but curious eyes danced back to the buckskin stranger ever so often.

Dany did not have a mind to tell the mare off, she had approached in peace, and this joyful event the snowy fae wanted to share with the whole world. Her pride in her new son was obvious, and she caressed his strong back with her maw. His coat was unbelievably white, as pure as the driven snow, without a hint of gold or silver, as was custom within his lineage. For now, he was full and content, peering curiously at Akaith, the dragon obviously spiking the pale child’s interest.

It was the scent of blood that initially drew the steed to this corner of the forest, blood and other fluids that spoke of birth. He recalled seeing one of the mares amongst the Qian who had been gradually rounding out with pregnancy, and suspected that it was she who had chosen the shadowy embrace of the forest to give birth. As he drew nearer, and individual scents became more noticeable, he was confirmed correct as he recognized the pale mare's scent. Hers and Mirage's and a fresh new scent of young life and another, unfamiliar one.

From betwixt the trees he approached, hemmed in by the trunks and sometimes seeming dwarfed by the plants, other times only seeming all the larger for taking up as much space as he did. Widened pupils caught a glimpse of figures in the pool clearing ahead, and his pace quickened somewhat as his goal came into sight. The sound of his hooves would warn them long before he came into sight, regardless of how much loam coated the ground and softened the paths. He was too big to be quiet, and nor was he trying to be.

He stepped from the forest cover, and stood quietly at the edge of the clearing, watching. The little colt was as pale as his mother, attentive and curious as he took in the strangers that came to welcome him into the world. The mother appeared weary, but enraptured with her new son. She was young herself, not all that many years older than the colt she'd borne. The stranger was a tawny coated mare, streaked in white, and he studied her for a long moment before continuing his observations. Last was Mirage, lovely creature that she was, with Akaith settled upon her back. She was admiring the colt, and he was thoughtful as he watched her. There was a wild moment where his mind produced an image of her with a dark coated foal at side, but he crammed that image down, not entirely comfortable with that idea. Not yet, anyways.

Slowly he drew nearer, approaching around the edge of the pool. At last he reached Mirage's side, aware suddenly of the fact that he dwarfed every single one of the mares, not to mention the tiny foal. It was an awkward sensation, a moment of feeling out of place here, but he ignored it in favor of bending his muzzle to greeting golden dragon and black mare with equal affection, even if the gestures were reserved touches of muzzle to muzzle or muzzle to shoulder. There were worlds of meaning behind the littlest of exchanges.

Then he inclined his head in greeting to the buckskin mare, politely, but spoke no words of greeting though there was curiosity in his golden eyes. At last he turned his attention to mother and son, a small smile crossing his features as he regarded them. "A lad of much promise." He observed, for even he wasn't so ignorant to not realize the strength in a colt who'd gained his feet so solidly so young. The scents of birth had barely faded at all, and already the colt was quietly exploring his surroundings.

Kiara
Red Roan Blanket Appalossa | 2 Years Old | Equine | Appaloosa x Quarter Horse

Ever since the meeting of the Qian, the young roan dove had taken up residence among the trees. Here she may not have alot of distance to watch for danger, but it sure would make it harder for danger to find her. The cries of the birthing mother rang deep into the two year old's sleep. However in her dream they were not cries of birth, but instead pain. In her mind she saw the huge brute trying to attack her, her mother defending her daughter. It had been this sight that had been the last time Kiara had seen her mother. She was told to run and run she had. With a loud and scared whinny the appaloosa woke. The sound of nearby voices hitting her ears the moment she was fully awake. Her breath was ragged at first, fearful she had been found. It wasn't until she picked up on Mirage's voice that she calmed. If the ebon mare was near, she was safe.

However curiously she lifted her slender and battered frame to her hooves to go investigate. The sight that the dove found was surprising to her. Slowly she looked around the little group with her emerald green eyes. First was to the pale mare, whom she had seen at the meeting and had arrived before Kiara had. It appeared that she was the one who gave birth. Next was a two colored fem, or tan and ivory that she had never met before. The fact that she was indeed a mare made her safe in Kiara's eyes. Then there was the only stallion of the group..... Her green eyes focused on him for a moment, trying to understand why he looked so strange..... It wasn't long before her eyes moved on to Mirage. The ebon mare above all others was the one the abused fem trusted. After all, she found Kiara at her weakest and did not hurt her. Instead she had taken Kiara to safety. Nervously she stepped out from the trees and nickered a soft greeting before looking to the new mother whispering softly "Congradulations". She did not come very close, as the grown hessain made her nervous.

The raven maiden found herself content to know that her presence brought the pale femme happiness, it was all she longed to do to those she considered friends and kin; extended family who dwelt under her metaphoric wing of the Qian. Now she supposed she had a nephew too – though she was loathed to ever associate being a ‘relative’ to that venomous serpent Viserys. However, she quelled her anger and simply focussed upon the present, for it was the Gift of Life they were celebrating today, certainly something to smile about, not have heated discussions over the incorrectness of it all. The young rambunctious actions of the colt in response to her touch of him brought a welcome curve to her lips.

The arrival of another triggered an immediate reaction in the raven mare who had claimed to protect those of her kin. Smoothly she bodice interjected between herself and the tired, no-longer-pregnant Daenerys, but her actions were not defensive nor unwelcoming, merely precautionary – if this newcomer wanted to be a threat, then let her be a threat to Mirage first. But the words that spouted from the buckskin’s maw were complimentary, and not directed precisely at the ebonite one, so she tilted her tiara curiously to emphasise the query Daenerys then posed to her, her golden eyes posing the silent question at the same time; that Daenerys had already spoken the question Mirage was going to ask, she held her tongue for now.

Familiar footsteps brought yet another trill from Akaith, whose attention had been momentarily pointed at the buckskin mistress, and the golden one rubbed her cheekbone against Vikram’s proffered maw, just as Mirage subtly leaned into his touch but otherwise showed no inclination of returning it – that she didn’t lean away from it was acceptance enough, she knew he would understand. The quiet, shy arrival of Kiara allowed the mare to soften her gaze slightly, the stony façade of indifference that had arisen upon the arrival of Ailith taking on a fond curve as she looked between the young mares, Kiara and Daenerys; they were of similar age and honestly the older mare did hope they would become friends, and not just because they were both of the Qian, though that would certainly be a valid reason to begin a friendship.

She nickered a return song to the roan belle, though it was brief, for her attention was still upon the newcomer, still assessing just what she longed to gain from arriving at the birth of a complete stranger. Mirage had done similar before, only she had friends there, and had extended her own metaphorical hand of friendship out to make new friends – perhaps that was all this Ailith intended on doing; but then again, perhaps not.
“He will be given ample opportunity to grow into his strength under the protection of the Qian.” Her words were spoken as a promise to Daenerys, and to Ahriman himself. The titanic size of Vikram added comfort to the security the WeyrLeader felt was necessary at such a potentially vulnerable event, and so she allowed herself to ease a hindleg upon its toe, a small act of acceptance to this unknown one, should she prove to be friendly company.

Sights appeared as more and more entered the little clearing. Ailith's hatred for any other species became obvious as the Vikram entered the little group. Ears flattened to her neck in an annoyed manor and instead of picking a fight with the large giant she stared him down with hatred. The mother at the moment had spoke though so in favor of returning words she just dipped her head. "No, I don't believe we have. Well I'll be on my way, some things have arrived upon my disliking." a flick of her eyes to Vikram and she turned quietly in the opposite direction.
Caring not if the others came for her or not, it would be curtious for them to just accept the fact that she was racist, or there would be an unwanted encounter infront of the newborn.

[ooc- possibly the worst post I've made in quite some time, lol excuse its crappyness (my muse has ran dry and I didn't want you all waiting on me) go ahead and skip her now, she's left the scene. xD lol]

DAENERYS
All I loved, I loved alone.

Daenerys still hadn’t gotten quite used to Vikram and his peculiar appearance, but she didn’t let it show on the outside anymore. Instead she smiled at him and dipped her head respectfully towards him; Ahriman, however, visibly startled when his eyes fell on the draconic stag. Small lobes pinpointed forward, clacking his teeth together in submission to the stallion, but still showing curiosity toward Vikram. Reassuringly, Dany caressed the colt’s nape; just the sheer size of Vikram would be enough to scare a newborn, let alone his unusual looks. "Thank you Vikram. I hope so, Daenerys sung in her melodic voice, Ahriman calmed by her demeanor, but not straying farther from his dam’s side. Instead, his mulberry eyes watched the stallion with awe in their depths; standing at a safe distance, he was more curious than scared.

Another arrived; Dany could not help but feel proud, that so many had arrived to greet her son into this world. This mare she recognized as well, from the Qian meeting, but then the fae had seemed shy and timid. As always, Dany had tried to reach out to her, but there had been too many gathered for more than friendly greetings. The filla was in a difficult time of her life, Dany knew; after all, it wasn’t many moons since she had been in the same place. The snowy fae immediately noticed the tension that appeared in the two-year-old, the moment her eyes went to Vikram, the same discomfort present in her eyes as had been last time she had seen her. It stung her heart, seeing the other like this; Ahriman didn’t notice such delicate things, he just whinnied at the filla in his infant amazement. Daenerys made a notion that she would have to find some playmates for him, and soon, less she be exhausted with entertaining him. Ahri seemed to be quite a bundle of energy, plenty for his young mother to handle. "Thank you miss," Dany spoke, answering as the appaloosa voiced her congratulations.

It was touching to witness how Mirage stepped in between at the approach of the stranger; it made Dany’s heart flutter, for she knew that she was cared for. How she had remained so mild, going through the things that she had, living with Viserys and all, was a wonder, but under her new circumstances she found that she could flourish, finding out whom she really was. Her whole life, she had had others tell her who she was and who she should be, but that was finally over. It was curious to see, how her ebon sister changed upon the arrival of a stranger, how her kind face grew hard; much like it had with Viserys around. Daenerys understood it was for protection, and perhaps in time she would learn too; but being young, the pale fae wore every emotion on her sleeve. As Mirage spoke, Daenerys bowed her head in gratitude, knowing that her son would indeed be safe. Ahriman did nothing; he just nipped at his dam’s hocks, for he was too young to know.

It worried the pale femme to see the change in the buckskin mare as Vikram entered, the hatred in her eyes wasn’t something she desired at this scene of birth. Suddenly, without giving as much as a name, the vix turned and left with a stingy remark. Daenerys was profoundly confused, for the mare had seemed kind at first, but then had turned in the blink of an eye. She glanced over at Vikram, wondering what he might do; hopefully, he would let the stranger leave in silence, not to bring trouble too close to her son. Ahriman had, in the meantime, gathered enough confidence to take a few steps from his mother, interest upon the roan filla of the ground. Performing the same submissive clacking of teeth, as he had with Vikram, he extended his tiny maw in a friendly gesture, curious as foals have of habit. Dany watched with a sullen smile on her delicate features, feeling safe in the midst of her kin.

Abruptly the newcomer left, evidently upon seeing the draconic presence of her beloved mate. The short speech highlighted the mares shameful lack of manners and expertise with the local language, but her point was made; she was one of those, ignorant and judgemental creatures who took things only upon the face value. At least she extracted herself from the scene – it was good she hurried, for annoyance dared to flare up in the mare, as she metaphorically leapt to the stallion’s defence, irritated that some unknown bitch would assume that her chosen lifemate was not worthy of her attention or time. But the shadowy one had some restraint, and merely took a sideways step to close the gap that had been generated between herself and the titanic form of Vikram. Leaning her shoulder subtly into his bulk, she silently wished to convey all that roiled within her; the annoyance, the want to comfort him, the want to hurt one who would be so blindly judgemental.

Akaith, however, was unable to show such restraint. Such uninhibited happiness had been the dominant emotion through the golden one previously, it now turned to scorn, as she growled angrily at the retreating form, her scales standing on end, her wings stretched out and ready to take her bodice into flight after the buckskin minx. Smoke trailed from her nostrils, but then soothing internal melodies sounded from the shadowy mare that was her bonded, and the queenly one settled, the happiness of the moment dampened slightly by the negative undercurrents of an ignorant fool. It was time to then focus upon the positives; the colt was alive, and he would be raised with the healthy notion that strength came from within, that one was not made by what they were given, but rather by how they used their gifts. Yes, the Qian would give him ample opportunity to realise this, he would be protected and yet exposed to what life what really about at the same time.

“It does not do well to let our minds rest too long on the thoughts of those too blind to see what truly stands before them.” Ailith had indeed, just destroyed most possibilities of ever gaining alliance with the Qian, and Mirage’s connections were many; she would make sure those she cared about knew what to look for should the buckskin deign to show her face again in public. There were of course, ways to make reparations, prove that one’s manner of thinking had altered – but Mirage knew well enough that it was nigh impossible to make a leopard change its spots. A deep breath was held, a sigh, and then exhaled, the rich aroma of the Forest breezing its way through her nostrils and maw as she did so. With the exhalation, came relaxation once more, a refreshed mind and a return of the smile that so artfully traced its way along her lips.

“If there was a way I could fortify borders of this land so that only our allies might enter it, I would – fortunately the numbers of the Qian are growing and will provide its members with the promised protection.” The mare so longed to give her family a homeland, to truly and properly start a herd on the same notion that she had begun the Qian. One day, one day.. She chided herself; patience she had, but sometimes she did forget. There was safety to be found in numbers, but those numbers would indeed benefit from having a land to call their resting place, she knew. The Deep Forest was accommodating for now, she would have to do more thinking on the ways to escape this predicament. Fondly, the mare watched the interactions of the colt with the other young mare, hoping that Kiara would soon lose her fear of the male gender, but also understanding that such things take time, and Mirage could hardly control them by her will alone.

[ Sorry for skipping over Vik & Kiara, muse struck me and I figure will give you more to play on anyway? xP ]

Always, it was a pleasure to be warmly welcomed by golden dragon and dark mare. Certainly the degree at which those warm welcomes were openly displayed, but that was nothing new to him. They were in public, after all. Other than his little display previously, that honestly had been more for her brothers' benefits, they kept to little gestures.

Another appeared shortly after his arrival, lingering on the outskirts and watching him warily. His ears tilted forward curiously as he returned the little roan mare's regard, then he inclined his head to her in wordless welcome. Otherwise he stayed still. He could scent her small fear, and guessed that he was the cause. Why, he couldn't guess. It didn't appear as though his appearance, however strange it was, unsettled her. Just his presence. It baffled him.

Not that he couldn't guess why the tawny coated mare up and left after his arrival. Her glance at his wings spoke volumes, even without the backward pinned ears and none-too-subtle words. Racist, obviously. Presumably she looked no farther than his wings and assumed him a pegasus, which amused him. Then again, she might be so against strangeness that she would care not about his equine blood and dragon heritage. Regardless, it didn't really bother him. He merely snorted softly, dismissal. But it was touching how Mirage and Akaith both bristled defensively. He bent his head to lip at the mare's mane and nuzzle her shoulder. A rumble vibrated in his chest, a deeper version of the croons that often came from Akaith. It was meant to reassure the both of them, let them both know he wasn't bothered.

It was then that he turned his attention to the little colt, lowering his head and extending his muzzle closer with a quietly friendly air. He hadn't missed the curious fascination, but had to chuckle when the lad's attention quickly was averted to the roan mare, and watched the steady steps made to approach her.

"The Forest's borders are longer than those of the herdlands. Fortunately there is myself and the few other winged ones who can cover more distance quickly." He tipped his muzzle to graze the side of Mirage's neck. "But you know as well as I that there are more who are accepting than those who are not here. That one was only the second to not like the look of me here, and far from the first in my journeys."

As the colt came closer, his teeth clacking softly the young roan did not move. She instead gently, slowly allowed her muzzle to touch his. Softly she nickered, a slight smile appearing on her muzzle. How sweet and innocent he was. Green eyes flashed up as she looked to his mother. In her green eyes, there was a hint of the old sparkle they used to hold before her almost rape. The actions of the tan mare were ignored, as Kiara was focused on the colt. The fem wanted a child of her own.... But that would mean allowing herself to get to know the males around her.

It was only then she noticed that almost everyone's eyes were on her and the colt. If horses could blush, the fem's cheeks would be a much darker red than her coat already was. Slowly she looked up and spoke quietly "I do not understand, the look she gave you.... Is it simply because you have wings and she does not?" How innocent Kiara was to the racism.... When the dragon like stallion spoke again, she for the first time since her arrival in Helovia spoke to a male "Perhaps they are jealous, because you have such amazing wings and they do not?"

The reassurances from Vikram helped to soothe the mare's nerves, his words of wisdom always echoing her own thoughts, and she nodded her tiara in response, visibly shifting her posture as muscles loosened their hold upon her skeletal frame. Yes, there were not many they had come across whom had open displayed their dislike of strange appearances. Mirage had lived too long and travelled too far to ever think twice about the way one presents themselves upon the surface. She preferred to delve deeper, to unmask the outer façade of a being, peel back the layers and reveal the true core of one's identity.

The sheer innocent ignorance of Kiara brought forth a beautiful chiming laughter from the mare. She was not laughing at Kiara, but leaned herself towards the little roan and stroked her affectionately with her whiskered muzzle, appreciating her views. "Who knows the way some minds work. Perhaps it is simple jealousy. Perhaps it is a deeper than that; maybe they were once scorned by a beast similar looking to Vikram, and so have prematurely judged him to be similar. Perhaps it is sheer ignorance and an unwillingness to improve one's education on the world." The mare spoke kindly, with a smile adorning her lips, also hinting that Kiara need not worry about all males treating her the way the ones of her past did.

"I will secure us a homeland, one way or another." Mostly to herself she spoke now, cranium nodding idly, her mind whirring as she mentally conferred with Akaith on seemingly trillions of thoughts at once. "It warms my heart to know we can survive regardless." Always she was surprised that they followed her so willingly, that their loyalty and strength was freely given to her to direct and instruct. While it was given to her, she would indeed use it, for the greater good. A curious smile lingered upon her lips, her rump tilting as a hind leg once again shifted weight, a thigh nudging the hide of her mate, her golden eyes happily roaming the gathering, a sense of peace finally settling over the vicinity.

DAENERYS
All I loved, I loved alone.

Daenerys did not participate in the discussion of the racist mare, but she was of course appalled by her behavior. She hoped to shelter Ahriman from such creatures, teach him tolerance towards all species. She could easily understand why Mirage felt upset; she couldn’t help but feel harmful herself, knowing how important Vikram was for the Qian and for Mirage especially. Dany nodded in agreement as the ebon fae spoke, eyes trailing back to her son as he moved towards the young appaloosa. The small gathering seemed to relax once again, the tension drifting away on the faint breeze. Sometimes, Daenerys missed a place to call home, a land with real borders where she could feel at ease. Out here, even with the Qian, there seemed to be so many dangers for a small, white colt. And like any mother, her worst fear was that her child would get hurt.

Ahriman hadn’t understood anything. The look that the young fae sent to Daenerys was returned by one of joy and understanding, an offering of friendship. Dany had had her share of pain from the stallions in her life; maybe the two of them could find some common ground. As Kiara bumped her muzzle against his, a tiny squeal of joy emitted him, and his hinds kicked in the air, causing him to stumble wildly. Dropping on his rump, he sat for a moment with wide eyes, looking around with wonder. Then he staggered back upon his legs and whinnied, flicking his little tail for joy. The pale boy diverted his attention to the black mare, walking up to her and brushing his tiny maw against her shoulder. Maybe he had been able to feel her emotional stir, maybe he was just curious, but no matter what, those large mulberry eyes found hers. Ahriman smiled as she laughed, he liked the sound of her laughter, small lobes perked directly at her to carefully catch every syllable.

"A homeland sounds wonderful, Mirage. I would love to give Ahriman a steady place to grow up," Daenerys sung softly, silken chords chiming clearly though she was tired. "Whereever you go, you know we will follow," she added, caressing her son as he found her flank to nurse once more.
