Relic

Inky black wings beat powerfully against the strong wind currents. Their blue hue flashed in the light. They angled around the parts of the sky that were not manageable, showing their long known expertise. The mare that owned these wings was a dark grey, dappled mare. Her lifeless blue eyes traveled over the forest under her, looking for a safe place to land. Seeing a space just big enough to fit her, the mare folded her wings and dived down. The mare angled her wings around the branches that stuck out expertly, not allowing herself to get damaged in any way. Wind blew through her soft, downy feathers as she dived. Coming almost a hundred feet off the ground, Relic's wings opened slightly to make her landing gentle. The mare's onyx hooves landed on the ground with a soft thud, and her wings closed against her sides. Lifting up her head gracefully, Relic looked at her new surroundings.

Huge pines shot up from the ground like strong, beautiful columns. Their structure was one of the most admirable, so strong and full of life. The plant life was a vibrant green, just adding to the beautiful scenery. All plants grew out of the ground, strong an proud. The texture beneath her feet reminded the mare of blood, but it didn't deter her very much. Blood had been apart from her past life, so she could handle it quite well. Little could Relic care though, for she was emotionless. It was like she couldn't feel at all, but that was terrifying to most. Taking a few steps forward, the mare moved into a graceful trot. Her blue hued wings remained tucked close to her body no matter the protest of her muscles. Relic's eyes took in more of the beauty she had engulfed herself with, wondering if it could ever end.

Coming to a stop, the mare gracefully lowered her head to the ground. Her nose smelled for the food her stomach wanted. A wonderful scent passed her nose, and she followed it to glimpse a patch of clover. The mare's ears flew upward, a slight nicker coming from her body. Taking a bit of clover, she finally tasted the wonderful plant. It's sweet flavor burst into her mouth, and she sighed. Chewing slowly, Relic savored the plant's lovely taste. As she ate her floor-length tail flicked around, making the dark curtain swish and flutter. Relic's knee length mane was now brushing the ground, flowing out of her arching neck. The mare's build was that of an arab, but the dark wings at her sides showed otherwise. Her body had a blue hue as well, but it was less faint than her wings.

Enjoying her small meal, Relic kept her ears forward. If anything, the mare was very cautious. Involuntarily, her dark hoof pawed at the ground, churning more of the wonderful clovers. After so long of not being able to eat like she should, this was a feast. The memories flew through her mind. The old herd had turned so, so terrible. Beating their own herd mates to bloodied pulps until there were none left. Relic herself had killed two of her father's greatest warrior, but that was why she left. Relic's fiery blue eyes were half closed as she sighed, she was gone from that place now. So far she had only met Ayaka, a wolf of such a nice manner. The mare had been slightly grateful that the fae was nice to her, even though she seemed like a lifeless corpse. Lifting her head, she looked behind her to make sure she was safe. Sighing, she relaxed as her long wings stretched. Their muscles loosening. The mare always preferred having her inky wings out, flying or just stretching them in general. Keeping her dark ears forward, Relic stayed cautious in case she had any visitors.
