Daytime's warm rays discouraged her from sunlit travel; she was meant for the cool of night, and had waited till then to travele beyond Worlds Edge and see what lay beyond the forest.

She was awestruck.

That was the only word that sufficed. In timid delicacy had cloven hooves pulled her forward, stepping cautiously beyond the comforts of the forests' long reaching shadows, her form obscured a final moment before the intangible black was abandoned - an aimless path that inevitably brought her to the sands of the beach, the black waves of the ocean. And she had been rendered speechless. Wide crimson eyes fed upon the sight before her, the sky unfurled as though some infinite tapestry of midnight blue, diamond dotted, merging into the same distant horizon has the sea. The meeting of the two was visible as only a thin line of mist, truly endless.

Never before had the mare seen such a magnificent vision, nor heard a murmuring hush so calm, she being lulled by the endless utterances of the sea. None of the many grove pools she'd passed resembled this, even the widest lake could not compare - the waters were so vast, so open that the very emptiness seemed to have a gravity to it, crushing. Slow steps carried her forward to the edge of the whispering shore, and then she had waded out and beyond it, shuddering both from the chill of misted spray and her own fear.

The tentative steps didn't carry her far. She stood upon the frothing zone where the waves were wed to the beach, her gaze gone out over the sea, searching for its opposing shore. Though wise to the ways of the forest, the damsel was still thoroughly convinced that she stood in a massive body of lakewater; she knew nothing oceans or the worlds beyond them. The curious tang of salt made her wonder, however, and has her head lowered to snort, she was surprised to sea tiny organisms drifting within the foam at her legs. Fascinating.

Determining that this 'lake' stretched into some unseen beyond, she contented herself with her side of the sea. The mare turned to trot across lapping waters, the elastic sway of muscle propelling her fluidly across the shoreline - enjoying the feel of the water as it splashed at sable ankles, reveling in the cool of the moon that poured white light upon her back. Chilled winds from the sea tore through her platinum locks, inspiring a flutey whinny to whistle gleefully from the confines of her lips. She was quite taken by this foreign delight.
