(Overdue post is overdue.)
Nose throbbing from the dual injury of Gaucho's hooves and bodyslam, she tried to keep ahead of him as he chased her into the sky like a falcon after a songbird (actually, if somebody compared them that way, she would've complimented them on their poetic skills and then kicked them for calling her a songbird). She had expected to be able to outmaneuver the stallion in the air due to her smaller size and narrower speed-designed wings, but he seemed to be keeping up just fine. This spar was proving to be just as difficult as their first. Gaucho countered each attack methodically, almost infuriatingly. Even now he was rising above her, obviously intending to divebomb her. She scowled and bent her wings to fall forward and away from him in an attempt to evade him, yet still felt his teeth scrape at her neck without breaking the skin. It wasn't nearly as bad as his antlers slashing at her, but it was still a reminder that she needed to be quicker.

As she broke away, he went the opposite direction, catching a gust of wind and riding it higher. This thankfully gave her a few moments to catch her breath and desperately try to think up a tactic she could use. The mare opened her wings back up to soar and looked up, squinting against the sunlight at his form. By ascending like that, he obviously meant to foil any attempt to attack him from above, drawing a quiet curse from the mare. No matter what she threw at him, or how quick or clever she thought she was, he was never shaken. As she went into an incline, curving back up towards the stallion, an idea struck her. It was risky and difficult, but maybe he wouldn't be expecting it.

With a grunt, she put on an extra burst of speed, flying towards Gaucho's left side at a slight upwards angle if she was going to do a full-body tackle in the air. She offered up a silent prayer that her idea would work, then, seconds before they collided, threw her head right and tilted her wings, rolling in midair so her hooves were in the space previously occupied by her head. Flying upside down was difficult for a long period of time, but she didn't need to do it for long. She folded her wings and, relying on her previous velocity, flew directly under him between his front and hind legs, intending to clout him in the chest or abdomen with her hard hooves and knock his wind out. She did take care, however, to avoid his groin. No need to castrate him. Her neck was stretched out and craned towards the ground to protect her head and throat in the event he dropped. Her hooves should keep him at bay though, or so she hoped.

It wasn't long before her speed ran out and she found herself slowing, curving downwards, falling like a blue meteor. She opened her wings again, heart pounding as she tried to pull out of her dive. On the ground, Java covered his eyes with his wings. She could feel the air building under her, slowly but steadily, and made a spectacular save, leveling out and then curving upwards again, breathing shakily. She debated coming in for another strike, but knew Gaucho would be ready, and instead soared in a wide turn towards him, ready for his attack.

Words: 572
Summary: Dives away from his attack, then soars back up towards his left barrel, flips, and tries to "kick" him in the belly as she passes under him, then dives again and recovers to prepare for his attack)
Injuries: Cuts on neck, bashed nose

Thanks for the good times, and no hard feelings for the bad times.
