It won't be whiskey, won't be meth
It'll be your name on my last breath

The soft growl of rolling waves, the salt coated air, the bitter wind, the sand giving out beneath her small feet. She was home. The lengthy grey mare found her way to the top of a small sand dune; dun sea grass brushed her legs gently. Tangles of her mane and tail flowed in the wind, making her feel weightless. Snowblind took a deep breath, letting out a tired sigh that poured from her mouth. The night sky was full of bright, twinkling stars and very few clouds. What a perfect night at the beach.

The long-legged mare began to walk down toward the water, curiosity taking control of her mind. She had heard there was something frightening about this ocean, but not what it actually may have been that haunted the waters. All she knew was that she was to stay clear of any deeper than her knees. That's as much as she trusted her exhausted frame at the moment. The waves lapped up on the white sand, kissing the earth before it rolled back to its natural home. Her weight caused her dark hooves to sink about an inch into the sand; all the heat had fled from the particles of rock as soon as the sun lowered for the night.

Snow took a few steps into the neutral temperature of the water, dropping her nose to the smallest rolling waves before she entered the water. The remains of a small ripple touched the end of her maw, causing her to shake her dainty head back up in the air. Each step on the more compact, saturated sand caused the liquid to escape as soon as her weight was pressed on it. The affected area would dehydrate, turning back to the soft white as it was for a moment, only to suck the remaining water back toward it as soon as the mare lifted a hoof. The tide was coming up for the night, creating the waves to roll up the beach faster than they had earlier in the day. By the time Snowblind was soaked up to her hawks, she stopped, frightening herself as soon as she noticed how deep she had gotten.

The salty water stirred around her aching limbs, sucking the sand from under her hooves out and digging her deeper into the natural trap. She pulled up her front feet one by one, knowing better than to let the suction get her stuck. The strong waves pulled back out to the currents, the rushing water making her tired body feel limp for a moment. This was not a good spot for her to be right now. She was not strong enough to withstand a rip tide if she stupidly wandered into one. The mare turned, picking up her long legs and trotting out of the water. Droplets flew through the air, staining her light hide as each caught onto her pelt. The water was cool, but the drops did not bother her. The feeling of freedom on the water was relieving. This was what she was to now call home, thanks to the riveting mare she had met that morning, Cosette.

Cosette trotted along the deep blue, her head and tail held high, the sun was setting and soon filled the sky with darkness. She was doing her rounds, to make sure no intruders were in the premises, something she felt obliged to do seeing as this was now her new home, and she also wanted to impress Corsair, their captain. She had felt herself falling in love with him, and quick. She wasn't sure what about him really got to her, but he seemed to be all she thought about lately. And lately was all the time.

Cosette saw a white mare in the fair distance. A mare that looked oh so familiar. Could it be the mare she had just recruited? Ah Yes it was! It was Snowblind. She watched the mare carefully and wearily enter the water. Cosette couldn't help but to feel warmness in her heart. She knew the mare had never really found the love for the sea like the pirates had, but it looked to Co like Snow had found it. She seemed to be enjoying the water against her legs, like Co did herself, oh so very much.

Cosette trotted closer to the mare as she exited the water, seeming somewhat frightened of the depth she had gone to Ahoy Snowblind! I'm glad ye found ye way here alright! Enjoying the ocean are we? she said dipping her head slightly to the mare in greetings. She was glad the mare had chosen her over the racist stallion Rico.

The sky looked strange, the hue changing the further it crawled into the air. Just over the liquid horizon looked like a dark blue flame, licking the intruding black space. High in the dark void, tiny white stars littered the sky, some twinkling and seeming to dance away from the darkness. Snow lifted her head high, watching a certain star as she moved with ease.

The light sound of approaching hooves came from beside her, causing her to look track of the star and quickly turn to her left. Cosette was closing in on her welcomingly. Snow slowed her pace, stopping before the horned mare reached her spot. "Ahoy Snowblind! I'm glad ye found ye way here alright! Enjoying the ocean are we?" The word choice was still baffling to Snow, but as she thought about it, maybe her way of speaking was odd to Co? A relieved smile spread across her dark mug and she let out a small sigh. "It was quite the travel, but I some how made it." She glanced back at the water, watching the gentle waves. "Yes, very much. I don't think I've ever been in water this warm. Where I'm from it was always so cold it was hard to drink."

Her thoughts swayed from the present to the past. She remembered having the awkward legs and unporportionate body that every foal had to deal with for a while. She always struggled to get along with the other children, causing her to grow sour as she grew older. It took her being nearly banished from her group and leaving on her own to realize that she couldn't hold onto things. She left every thing behind, not wanting to look back. Helovia would be good for her, she hoped. Especially if she were to spend it here at the ocean. She made herself break the glazed look that suddenly took over her eyes, not wanting to feel weak the first day to her new home. "It's lovely here Cosette."

Weary legs stepped from the trees that littered the edge of the endless blue's shores. Corsair let his head hang low, his shoulders slumped and his deep blue eyes filled to the brim with a tired glaze. His hooves dragged against the sand as the bay studied the ground, it wasn't as if he had anything else to do.

Oh, wait. He did.

The Captain sighed, continuing to study the sandy ground when his eyes caught the look of a familiar looking hoof print. It was no doubt Cosette's. The prints led around the edge of the Pirate's territory. A smile spread across the stallion's lips as he realized his beloved Cosette had patrolled the beach a short time ago. What a thoughtful mare.

Corsair straightened up, tearing his eyes away from the prints and scanning the beach itself. The prints were fresh, so Cosette must be somewhere close. He held his head high as he walked, no longer dragging his hooves and forced the tired look out of his eyes. If Cosette was to see him, he would make sure it wouldn't be like this.

A white mare and Corsair's beloved Cosette were standing in the ocean, waves lapping at the mare's knees. The stallion stopped at this sight, a new thought crossing his mind. They seemed to happy chatting about whatever it is that mares chat about, so wouldn't it be rude to intervene? Maybe he'd just say a greeting, then leave them to chat away.

The plan was simple in the bay's mind, so he walked up to the mares in the water, coming to stand on the other side of the new mare, though he longed for Cosette's coat to brush his own again. Corsair down at the new mare, his eyes full of kindness. If Corsair was anything, it was kind, especially to Cosette's friends. "'Ello, there. Me name is Corsair, buccaneer of t' sea an' Capt'n of t' Pirates who reside here, on t' endless blue," Corsair stated, still studying the new mare. A nice recruit, a job well done by Cosette.

"Tell me ye name, lass," Corsair addressed the new mare, smiling at her all the while, his voice laced with a gentle tone.
