Aurelius was not going to deny it. Since his recent success in the Threshold, which resulted in bringing home Lena and Huyana, he had become somewhat eager to further prove his worth. He was not a warrior, it was obvious with his physical limitations, but if he could recruit, maybe he could gain some acclaim doing that. So once again, his short legs had carried him here, seeking to stay in the shadow of the surrounding trees, making a fair amount of noise; he wasn’t trying to sneak up on any after all, so why bother? A few twigs caught in his coarse-haired mane and he sighed, realizing he would look as scruffy as ever if he encountered anyone. Aury wasn’t vain as such; he just did need added curiosities to his looks, not when trying to meet new people. The stag was short, with seemingly stunted legs, and a certain roundness to his body – not fat, but fluffy rather, and very hairy. His mismatched eyes darted around, one green and one black, searching for the hint of any that he might bring home for the Edge, but so far he had no luck.

In that same instance, the imp caught a familiar scent upon the breeze and a smile crept upon his maw. He wasn’t exactly surprised that his pale king would be here too, Mauja took his duties to the herd very seriously; it was hard not to take a liking to the tall bloke, Aury must admit. Decided to stop his aimless meanderings, he instead headed in the direction of the source of the smell, closing in slowly. That was when he caught another scent, a female one that was unfamiliar to him. Taking another whiff, he slowed down further, trying to define what seemed so odd about it; for it was not completely strange, this smell. His curiosity was starting to awaken, so he set forward in a trot, finally bringing the duo into view. He couldn’t say exactly what he had expected, but the scene before him did surprise him a little – not that he would let it show, his expression merely showing kind interest as he approached. A scruffy whicker escaped him as a greeting, striding up before them and dipping his head briefly in respect of his king. "Mauja," he spoke in greeting, then taking time to have a closer look at the maiden by the pale stag’s side.

The dwarven steed’s eyes glistened as he took in the young fae, a roan she was and sharing some physical traits with Mauja – no doubt he had stumbled upon a little father to daughter reunion. He had not imagined the pale king to be a father, but then again he couldn’t see why not. A handsome man of his position would naturally have a few brides swooning at his presence, no doubt about that. Aurelius felt a small pang of envy in his heart; it was doubtful if he would ever sire children himself, with his stature and lack of glamorous good-looks. You’d be surprised at how long-legged the residents of Helovia tended to be, which was not optimal if he’d had any say in it. Tearing himself away from those thoughts, he offered a kind smile to the filla, nodding respectfully at her as well. "And who might this pretty young lady be?" he asked in a humming voice, the cheer returned to his eyes as it had been extinguished for a moment.
