hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die,
then life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly.
Now, there wasn't much difference to her to the other mares. She was the type of lady who was out of the house on late nights, and came home late to a husband who never cared, and loved her like she was always right beside him. Though now there was no clingy, annoying husband to hold her back, and her time in Helovia was fine. Being accepted into the Assassins was even better than she had expected in her first few weeks in the world. But the warmth of Tallsun clearly wasn't lasting, and the cold winds of Orangemoon was speaking to her that only the colder times were coming upon her. Already this was something that was going to get onto her nerves. She never did well with the cold, yet why was she heading northward to the frozen landscape of the Steppe? Maybe it was just welcoming to her soul with the coldness it held, or was it she was looking to get away from the other souls that brought annoyance upon her black heart?
The world was becoming dead and lifeless at this place. Winter blanketed the ground in a never ending veil. Her pale blue eyes could stare from miles on end, before seeing a few trees far off in the distance. Wind bit and stabbed at her with no form of protection against it. Her own body blended in with the landscape, leaving out her black mane and tail, and the leopard appaloosa spotting over her front legs, upper neck, and face. The rest came out a sheet of white. If you were able to look into the mare's chest, you'd find a simple black flame burning as what could be described as a heart. It never held any love, and never would.
Piercing blows from the wind's icy grip seemed to awaken her from a trance her mind went into. The trees ahead didn't seem so far off, and if she was able to get there, then maybe she could stay there for sometime. It was only mid-day with the Sun held to the middle of the sky, though in the distance she was already able to see darker clouds. They were moving away from her, though she wasn't about to take many chances. A quick pace came from a place inside her that she was unaware of. Drifts within the snow didn't bother her as much as it usually did as she moved through them, and as the trees came closer to her, only did she reassure herself that she wasn't about to leave herself out in a place like so.
She came upon them in her fast pace, the shadows ingulfing her body as she entered their place. The branches were lifeless as of creatures, birds not coming up this far north apparently. In the dark, she felt at home. Here the snow seemed a bit thinner as the canopy of hardy evergreens had halted its assault to the floor. Her vision quickly adjusted to make due with the lighting within her surroundings. Something moved, only to be a large bird that had taken refuge in this damned place. As it took off, a smile parted across her face. Simple time alone to herself, and not a soul to bother a common mare like herself.
