Embarrassment glowed in her kind eyes as he caught her in a situation that would be mortifying to any as reserved as her. Perhaps reserved was not the correct word, but Kaj had never been good with them anyways. Though it had not been his fault to have found her in such a situation, Kaj still felt guilty for flustering her in such a way. Collecting herself quickly, her irises warm invitingly and a soft smile stretched her lips around the chain that dangled distractingly in the rays of sunshine that crept through the shadows determinedly. It encouraged him to step a little closer, though his idea of personal space was drastically diminished in comparison to others. Brotherly and sisterly bonds had run deep within his former home, a bond that brought about touch as if it were as natural as breathing. Should any soul you had not met before be recruited to the herd, you would greet them with a bump of shoulders or muzzles. Kaj had found it nearly distressing that such close camaraderie did not exist within Helovia, though the closeness he shared with his fellow Edge members comforted him slightly. Slowly he was learning that personal space was well-valued by Helovians, and so approached Onni slowly as if she were a skittish wild creature. He was still learning how close was too close, and the differences in people's limits.

Awkward mumbling through closed teeth makes him chuckle slightly, but the smile on his lips never dulls. It is a sign to her that he is not teasing, and wishes not to insult her. More so, he is laughing at himself for not noticing and helping her earlier. Crown shakes softly to rid himself of the snowy locks that hide his gaze from her, focusing more on the task at hand. She has granted him the right to take the burden- light as it physically may be- from her ill-suited grasp and use his own to rid them both of it. He focuses not only on gripping the chain correctly, but on not approaching or closing in in such a way that will scare her or cause her any discomfort. Briefly, pale azure eyes glanced up to Lyhty as he chirped unhappily, gaze moving past the pale hairs that lay delicately upon Onni's arched neck. Confused by his behavior, as surely the companion thinks he is doing something wrong, Kaj nearly didn't feel Onni release the chain in order to let him put it on her. Once the amulet is settled with a gentle bounce against her lithe chest, Kaj steps away to give her space. Motion draws her eyes, only for it to disappear once more in a demure shyness he is finally starting to slowly understand. Yet a broad grin cannot be stopped from erupting onto his maw at her thanks. "You are quite welcome, Onni" he says, and yet in his eye there is a brightness that at last, she has accepted a compliment without his ceaseless prodding. It is so cheesy for him to be so infinitely excited over two simple words, but her acceptance means that maybe she will someday believe him when he compliments her. Kaj has always believed that every lady should feel beautiful and loved, even if the affection they receive is not from their mate. Seeing all the lonely, disbelieving mares that couldn't see how beautiful they were, Kaj desperately wanted to coo and compliment them. Hold them close, whisper into their ears that they were precious. That somebody loved them, even in a simple way not meant for romance. That they were beautiful, lovely, breathtaking. Kaj wanted them all to feel like princesses, like the most beautiful beings to ever walk the earth.

Thoughts shatter easily when Lyhty flies forth in anger, squabbling in a language Kaj will never understand. Onni gently pulls him away, a chiding look in her eyes that soon drifts to her voice as well. "My apologies, Lyhty. I did not mean to insult you." Was he strange for talking to someone else's companion as if they could converse with him in the same way? Maybe. Did Kaj care? Nope. Already he was abnormal, why not add a little sprinkle onto that oozing golden ice cream? Onni is no longer looking at him, and with a sigh that escapes his pale muzzle he turns to look where she does. Gaze and body points at a diagonal from her, letting her do as she wished while he rested. "Mirage has promoted me to her WingLead, her General, and sent myself, Rishima, and Ink to the Throat to strengthen ties. Mix our cultures, learn about you and how you live." It is easy enough to explain, but there is pride and love for his home that swells entirely too obviously in his vocals as he speaks of his new title. It was hard-won, and Destrier was an amazing WingLead as well. Never had he imagined that his life would end up this good; standing beside a soul he considered a budding friend, a WingLead, on a type of vacation in a home other than his own by orders of his Queen. It truly was a beautiful day.
