Thinking of you keeps
me up all night

Her small hooves were careful in choosing the path to walk. It was morning, fresh crisp winds tousled her mane. Her mane which mostly is a light yellowed chestnut colour, has white hairs at the bottom. At times she wished her entire mane was white, to the young filly this would no doubt be very pretty. Her tail is similar to her mane, the hairs on top of her tail are white, where they mix into the rest of the chestnut coloured hair. One month old, Catalina is still very dependant on her mother. She had wondered off to check out a sound she had heard in the distance. It was a stream, so had a small drink and then turned around to find her mother gone. Catalina, however did not doubt for a second that her mother knew where she was, so ever so careful, she was walking through the forest waiting for her mother to catch up to her. Her mother, she wanted to grow up and be just like her. She was beautiful, and she adored her mother, her hair, her colour and her markings. She loved everyone and everything. Her bright blue eyes where wide, studying the area around her. Her posture radiated confidence, she had no doubts in her mind. She was calm and confident that either she would be found, or, she would find her mother. They shared a bond after all. Cat's mother had quickly become her best friend. Her eyes where on the horizon, which was just visible through the trees. It was nice just to have her own company for a while, her mother had become rather depressed after being kicked out from their home. She had withdrawn herself from Catalina ever so slightly. It wasn't too upsetting though, Catalina also pined for their home.

She hadn't been paying much attention to where she was going, now that her eyes were set ahead and her mind on their old safe home. It came to a shock when a sharp pain startled at her front left ankle. She cried out in pain and looked down. A python, not poisonous at least, had bitten her. She reared up in a panic and brought her front hooves down onto the creature that had bitten her. She heard a crunch and realised she'd broken some bones....or it's skull. She screamed in horror and began to run blindly, "MOTHER!" she screamed. She searched for her mothers coat admist the trees. Horror of what had just happened, what she did to the snake sped through her, causing more panic when she wondered if there where more around. "MOTHER!" She creamed again. The pain in her front ankle was numbed by shock, numbed by her horror of killing another living being. She had killed the snake. She had crushed it in her panic. She would never, ever forgive herself.

Soon the pain came back, her shock running out. It became unbearable to run, no, as the burning pain spread over leg she fell to a heap in the ground and began to sob. She sobbed for the snake, for the pain and for her mother. She needed to be rescued and she wanted her mother to do it. Where was she? Her cries where loud, they had awakened every song bird in the forest, who where now singing her a soft lullaby, calming her slightly.
