Somewhat surprisingly, the winged mare didn't seem to know that she stood within the Basin. This fact piqued the brindled's curiosity; there had been so many to have waltzed into his home, knowing very well what they were getting themselves into, despite prior visitation to the snowy land of unicorns. He'd often had thoughts that those who did get away went running back to the warmer parts of Helovia, screaming their heads off and giving away the location of the Basin. Was it not common knowledge like he had previously thought? Was he simply overreacting?

There seemed little use in trying to play dumb and cover up the name of the land. The way she stood implied that her words were genuine, that she truly did not know what she had done so wrong. For a moment, the two seemed to simply take one another in. Her pelt was nearly as dark as his own and lacked his striping, instead holding an azure sheen to it that was intensified by the glare of snow on the rather sunny day. Her feathers reminded him of the jays that he often saw flittering about Helovia, and while some might think them beautiful, the feathery appendages threatened to pull his lips back into a disgusted sneer. 'Hideous thing,' he thought to himself as he pursed his lips, willing himself to keep a straight face as he set to answering the Pegasus. "Your feet have landed you in the Aurora Basin," he began to explain, his voice curt and already beginning to show an edge of irritation, "Or your wings have, if you're a smartass."

At the mention of his pup, Crowley turned his golden eyes to Talbot, whom seemed to be taking in the sight of Ampere's wings with total fascination. Oh, he had seen wings before, but only upon the bodies of birds. While Crowley was uncaring if the hound witness the brutality against prisoners and those without horns in general, he seemed to be strangely absent every time that such things took place. It was a realization that was only now dawning on the brindle, but he supposed there was still plenty of time to show the young pup the ways of the Plague the things he would need to participate within when he grew older and more dangerous. As of now, as Ampere had so kindly pointed out, Talbot bore no ill will; but that wouldn't last forever.

Before the Weaver could fathom a response, however, something dropped from the sky above and landed right in front of their subject matter. Talbot looked down, surprised to find that a meal had suddenly dropped right before him. There wasn't even any need to kill it; it was already dead. The pup's tail set to wagging behind him as he stood, dropping his nose to sniff at the decrepit, broken creature before taking it into his teeth to consume it. Directing his gaze skyward, Crowley spotted the monotone owl that was quickly becoming a familiar sight in the Basin. He knew the owl to belong to his dearest Bane, whom he knew little of, but respected nonetheless. Surely the speckled King would arrive shortly and assist in removing the winged pest from the premises.

Returning his piercing gaze to the mare, he did his best not to laugh. Why not have a little fun in the face of such innocence before booting her out? "Yes," he replied with the slightest dip of his head, and finally began to move closer to Ampere. "Have you seen nothing like it before? If you do not leave at once," he said, gesturing towards the pass that led into the sanctuary for those without wings, "I'll be forced to pit them all against you."
