the best dreams happen when you're awake
It had been a while since she last saw her family. Her dearest mother, Nevaeh, and her beloved father, Torak. They had once been everything to the mare, they still were. She missed them now - and the blue mare hoped that they missed her too.
Galloping across the lands had made her exhausted and she slowed down to a trotting pace, taking in her surroundings. Of course she hadn't paid much attention to it, her red eyes had practically been glued to the road she'd followed.
Where was she now?
Her red hooves carried her forward as she observed the forest around her, curious and wondering what this land was called. If she had even arrived to a land. This could just be a random forest what she knew.

But it was hopefully worth it, her journey here. If this was a land, then she wouldn't say no to staying here for a while. Maybe even settle down? She was longing for a family to hold close to her, a herd to surround her and make her feel safe.
The mare sighed lightly and stopped by a big tree that stood out in the big forest. It was thicker than the others.
She laid down and took a deep breath. Her muscles were aching, which wasn't a mystery since she had galloped for so long. Red curly straws of hair covered her thin neck and her forelock was parted in two by a long, red and blue horn. It was smooth to the surface and had an extraordinary sharp tip.
She was a unicorn - but that didn't make her much more different than anyone else. Everyone was unique but no one was special. That had been her motto during her journey to this place.

Equines, pegasi, unicorns. The only thing that parted the three species was their appearance. But they were still horses, they all had mates and longing for company. They were all built like the original horse.
The blue mare sighed again and closed her eyes. There were not many horses that agreed with her opinion. Some that she had met had even spoken their opinions about one species ruling them all out loud, which always made the mare upset.
They could just keep their mouth shut.
Keep... Their mouth... Shut....
She was slowly falling asleep, wandering into the land of dreams. Her mother and father welcomed her home again in the dream, they hugged her and were happy.
Nevaeh, her mother, was a beautiful light blue unicorn just like her, except that she had blonde hair instead of red. Her horn was golden, just like her eyes and hooves. And her father... Her father had a metallic coat, and his other features were red. Red eyes, red hair, red hooves... Even his horn was fully red.

Mother and father... Naveen, the blue mare, sighed and opened her eyes again. For how long had she been asleep? It had been daytime when she had fallen asleep, and it was dark now. The sun was setting behind the trees shadows and the sky was purple in color.
Naveen yawned and found her legs again, getting up with very little trouble. She whipped her curly, long tail and looked around.
Still alone?
"Hello, is anyone out there?" She had a sweet voice, something she had heard from all of the members in her old herd. Innocent, almost.
"Hello?"

"Talking"

it has come to pass...

The pristine essence of a snow-blanketed canvas had been quietly watching over the new comer of blue and red. The world she had known did not speak of such colorful creatures like she had been introduced to here in Helovia. She was still relatively new, but she felt like the path she was taking, was down a dirt road she had traveled many times over again. Even other unicorns like herself, still did not look her. She was of ancient times. Her coloring, her horn, her mannerisms, her behavior, but something along the way had changed. Her feelings were no longer under her control, and she wished she knew how to turn back the hands of father time.

Nadira had not wished to wake the other mare. She felt the weariness of the other mare, much like her own, but she could not sleep. Her insomnia was one of few things that had ruled over her. Her nightmares during slumber, and the walking dead of day, well more like the magic of light playing tricks on her mind and memories. It was like if her nightmares couldn’t haunt her while she slept, then they would come to her during the day. Whatever they could do to unsettle her and unnerve her, to haunt her for the rest of her days. She was calm, cool and colleted on the outside, even her killer spy capabilities worked like a perfected machine robot. But her feelings and emotions were destroying her from the inside.

When the blue maiden awoke from her dreams and questioned who else was out in the woods, the paled and bloodless mare showed herself. Revealing her true form from the depths of the shadows that had hid her for the time being. Nadira wondered what her story was. She grazed her sapphires over the blue and red mare. Admiring her horn as well, a small smile escaped her. There was something about her that Nadira was being drawn to, but she couldn’t quite place her feelings.

"Hi. Sorry if I was intruding. I just thought maybe having a guardian in these new lands wouldn’t be such a bad idea. You seemed so tired and in these parts, there are little who you can trust. I am Nadira and who might you be?"

The sea shadow wished she could offer this mare a home, but she could not. She would do her best though to try and find a good home for her at least. What with all the recruits who were bias, at least Nadira could offer an unbiased opinion of the lands.

Descaro had simply come to the decision that the Threshold was now his second home. It was an easy enough walk and not too far to travel, that hardest part was going back across the Steppe, but that was something he had gotten used to now. The snows were not quite so bad yet, Frostfall was still some distance away, but the wind had gotten that bitter edge to it again. It was also an ideal work out for him, it kept his muscles from going stiff with inactivity and allowed him to meet new horses as they entered a strange land. As he walked across the grassy field and into the deep woods of Helovia's entrance, he noted the leaves that were now strewed across the floor in a myriad of autumn colours. They crunched underneath his cloven hooves when he gently picked up his gait to a bouncy trot, the sun was setting and darkness was slowly creeping in around the wood. This stop would have to be a quick one and if he didn't find anyone in a few minutes, he might even turn back and go home now.

Yet, he did scent others.

He quickened his pace and his body moved almost like a dark silhouette as the shadows lengthened from the sun setting. There were two so far as he could tell, neither scent did he recognize and at first it occurred to him that there may be two wishing to find a new home. If both were unicorns, then he'd landed on a gold mine! Golden trees parted and he leapt over a fallen log before finally he stumbled across a blue coloured mare with plumes of crimson mane and a alabaster mare, who seemed more familiar with Helovia. Both were unicorns, but only one seemed to be new to the land. He caught the words of the snowy femme who offered her a guardian and Descaro stifled a snort. The mare didn't look strong enough to guard anything in his eyes, though he held his tongue on the matter and listened until the mare had finished her dribble.

It was then that the Soldier proffered his head in vibrant greeting and plastered a welcoming smile across his face. "The girl is right, there are some strange horses in these parts. My name is Descaro and I come from the powerful land known as the Aurora Basin. I offer you my services, should you have any questions or seek a home." He said in his suave tones with a smouldering look, noting the beautiful way in which her crimson mane outlined her cute carved face.
