Great broad wings were spread wide to hold him aloft, years of experience lending themselves toward as little energy as necessary used to sustain this aerial freedom. Tiny adjustments were made to spar and sail, angling him into each new updraft so that he was lifted upward again without exerting himself unduly. His sheer size and build were not meant for the agile flight enjoyed by his golden flight partner, but there was only admiration in him for her when his gaze drifted toward her.

Most of his attention, that which wasn't dedicated toward flight, was directed forward and down. Toward sand and surf, and a small dark figure amongst the waves. His ears flicked forward against the drag of the wind with pleased recognition, knowing the mare even from such a distance. THe dragon descended before he did, dropping from the sky with swift wingbeats, heading for her bonded.

He had to smile as he lingered at high altitude a few moments longer. So very much had changed since the first time he'd set eyes on this duo, and not a bit of it would he change. Well, that might not be entirely true, but who was counting? With a grin he tipped his wings and swept down after Akaith. But his downward path led him out over the waves instead of the dunes, sweeping low over deep water before letting the salty spray catch at his legs and slow him into a very wet, splashing landing. What? It was more fun than running to a halt over soft sand.

Merrily he swam toward shore, until his hooves found purchase on the underlying sand and gravel. Then he surged forward in bounds, wings held high to not get caught up in the water. At last he trotted through the shallow surf, absolutely dripping but comfortably warmed by the fire within. A rumbling neigh was his greeting call, as he swished his long tail to dispel excess water. Politely he paused a few feet away and finished the drying shake that made his wings rattle and tangled the ebon strands of his mane in the short spikes that normally hid beneath it.

There was little that stood up against a long flight with good company, followed by a dip in the cool waters of the ocean. Especially in this weather. The best part, though, was this last bit. Judging himself dry enough to not be deflected with a laughing comment, he approached the final few steps and reached his muzzle out to Mirage, rumbling with pleasure to see her.
