Sunlight pours down over the fine, golden sand which spans for miles on all sides of the stallion. It cascades over his dark form as he strides across the beach, almost violent in its ways. The copper disk in the sky casts a dazzling glare upon the ocean's rolling crests, deep blue waters trashing against the shore, defining the line of battle between land and sea. The sun has chased away all clouds from the sky with its painfully white light, drenching the beach in its glistening warmth. It melts within Ghayth's electric eyes as he drinks in his surroundings.

Sand, water, sun; they are accompanied by the non-musical whine of gulls in the distance, complaining even as they feast. He squints, gazing out at the white bodies floating on the breeze, weightless. Some collect around a dark pile of flesh in the distance. The stallion grimaces, catching the sickly odor of decay flitting on the wind. Though some might turn away from such a sight, he does not relent his steady pace, lazy as the tropical sun which hovers overhead. His nose pinches as he arrives at the carcass - an unfortunate, unidentifiable creature of the sea. A pair of gulls hastily retreats from him. Perhaps it was some kind of seal, but it is too decomposed to say for certain. Flesh-shrouded bones lay exposed, the skull picked clean.

Uninterested any further, Ghayth continues onward, leaving the birds to their scavenging. He moves a few paces down the beach, away from the scent of putrefaction, and penetrates the shallows with his sleek, gray form. The breakers crash against his breasts, and he can feel the subtle pecking of fish at his cannons. He stands like this for a moment, statuesque, before impulsively driving into the brine and bobbing up quickly to the surface. Water drips from his face and muzzle, adhering to his sleek mane and causing it to clump.

But briefly, she is at peace with the world.

Ever secretive, the ocean whispers gently as she caresses the shore. She yearns to know its secrets, to learn her knowledge, but the rainchild knows the sea is a formidable keeper of secrets, not even passing them to the sea birds. Her cloven hooves sink into the brine-soaked sand, leaving a neat path along the shore. She soon sweeps in, the ocean, filling the cloven pock-marks and keeping the roan's presence a secret, leaving foam and broken seashells in her wake. In the distance the girl can hear the squabble of gulls, their greedy cries echoing through the sandy strand.

She pauses, ears flicking this way and that, the gentle curve of rain-blue eyes reflecting the impossibly clear sky, like a second day within her gaze. The ocean's sound and the squabbling of the birds wash over her for a moment, and she sways gently, the tuft of her tail idly brushing the sand by her ankles. In a rush of youthful bravado, Huyana tucks her chin to her chest and lunges forward, loping along the sea, brine and seafoam clinging to her limbs and the bottom of her belly. The rhythmic pattering of her hooves against firm sand and tide makes a sound akin to the murmur of rain, the whisper of thunder. She shuts her eyes, letting the sea guide her movement, the thick smell of salt heavy in her lungs.

The rainchild almost tramples him before balking onto the shore, unsteady on her slender dark legs. Her fur is thick and dark for winter, hanging in uneven clumps where saltwater is drying. She seems rough in appearance, but there is something unmistakably elegant about her, like the trickle of water over stone or the pitter-patter of rain. Her eyes are wide with surprise, and she lets a moment of awkward silence pass before addressing the grey before her. "I didn't see you," she explains, straightening herself. Anyone who plays in the sea is a friend. Huyana gives him a small smile - a token of apology. "Lovely day for a swim."
