Look down
The ground below is crumbling
Look up
The stars are all exploding

Through thin, icy cold air the Pegasus with crimson streaks in her otherwise ink black tail descended- red to expose a snippet of a bitter character thirsty for the bloodshed of another. Her nose was screwed derisively, naturally, and it was a sanctimonious, pale golden gaze which shed her dissatisfaction across the unsuspecting world below- wherever that was. Africa had found little rest since waking in this irritatingly unfamiliar land, and fatigue frayed her already impatient, thinning nerves. She was busy, and this waste of time game was growing old fast.

A vast mountain range crawled below, and she looked indifferently down across the sharp, jagged peaks which were cloaked in shimmery white snow- fresh, she presumed and entirely out of season given that her country was currently gripped by one of the hottest summer months on record. “Absurd...” She spat spitefully into the brisk, rushing wind and simultaneously her outstretched, sinewy stockinged forelegs struck cloud. She always preferred to travel in obscurity, unseen by those fools she prayed so maliciously upon. Africa was quiet, cunning and her thoughts were sharp.

Dipping the bony forearms of her great feathered wings, the young horse swooped reasonably to sink beneath the still blanket of gloom; of bleak gray mist, pregnant with frost and new snow. There she smirked with simmering satisfaction, and lowered her face to peer a little more curiously at the now opaque range below. The cold was a treat to be appreciated given that the season’s aridity had been so trying and brutal, just yesterday.

Suddenly, the clattering of hooves and the shrill ring of unchecked voices peeled around her, bouncing wildly between the stark, stony mountain walls. Immediately Africa’s black tipped ears pricked with intrigue and automatically, her slim, fit body angled downwards, slipping through the swirling currents of air to find the source of the ruckus. It did not take her long with the advantage of her ‘bird’s-eye’ perspective...

"I am You, you are me, we are one... but you... You don't care if the Pegasi and Equines run this world!" Came the more hostile of the two extremely similar voices again- "Therefore you are IMPURE, and must be removed so I exist!" The young grey snorted scornfully at the ignorant spill of imprudent words, and spotted the twins quickly through a critical, accusatory glare. She landed with effortless grace, almost floating across the waiting hang of her long legs, before propping her weight delicately and equally atop them, finally on the ground.

You!” Africa slithered forward angrily, and poised for affect before the aggressive twin with up-stretched wings and flared feathers- naturally and appropriately, her ears were pinned backwards, lost beneath the wild tangle of her thick long mane. “Shut up or by the Gods I will spill your grizzly blood all over this mountainside.” Her hiss was as challenging as it was provocative, and she lifted into a fearless half-rear to affirm her purpose.
