ice cold man watches earth die, eternal winter takes its reign

There was something odd about the stallion - something that, in a most disconcerting manner, reminded him of October. They were both black, sure, and sort of dull in color, but it was more than that. It was the glint in their eyes, the mad-look... it was in the ghoulish smile, the unfocused way his eyes roved across Mauja's own body. To be completely honest, it made him want to take a step back, but he didn't, just held his ground with wariness at the forefront of his mind. His heart beat increased, feeding adrenaline to his body as he readied himself for, well, anything. "Dripp, dropp," in a singsong voice, much like the childlike exuberance of October, adult voice but childish words, childish manner. Every instinct clamored at him to get the hell out of here as the stranger began to wave his horn from side to side, like a serpent ready to strike. Something was utterly, fundamentally wrong - yet Mauja persisted, hoping, in vain, for some shred of normalcy. "I have a healer, come with-" he began, but got no further, cut short by a sudden charge.

If the strangeness of the stallion hadn't already put him on edge, it would've taken him entirely by surprise - now, he was somewhat ready, perhaps not for an outright attack but for something. A shrill whinny escaped him as he sprang sideways, lowering his own head; the black point snagged on the thin skin across his left shoulder blade, tearing a rift which filled with red. Surprised, angry, vindictive, he tried to stab the black stallion between the ribs while his hindquarters moved in an arc to the right, to bring them out of reach. He didn't want more of his own blood to coat the dark tip, didn't want it sunk into his thigh; it was bad enough, to see a single drop of the red slowly slide down the black length, like water.
angels, they fell first, but I'm still here
