Mauja the FrostHeart
ice cold man watches earth die, eternal winter takes its reign

Taunting, mocking, unreachable, the King strode around the black creature, but managed nothing more than a couple of elegant steps before hell broke loose again. The aggressive beast threw itself after him, but didn't manage to close the distance. Mauja bounced sideways anyway - the movement had been lying in wait under his skin, initiated upon registering the black shape advancing. Still, it was with a mild look on surprise than he stopped and watched scabbed knees break and bleed. He couldn't see what had tripped him up, and guessed he'd done it all by himself. Sweat covered him and the sun beat down harshly, yet the idea of exhaustion bringing the aggressive creature to its knees was just laughable. As he struggled upright, the monarch once more prepared for battle, tensing, readying himself for the satisfying clash of bodies.. which never came. This time the disappointment was greater as he had nothing to do but flinch and then still his motion once more. Up the monster came again, body screaming exhaustion but eyes screaming murder, and once again he fell flat on his face, not managing to close the yards between himself and the FrostHeart.

With an unholy blend of anger, frustration, curiosity and disappointment the King watched as the black unicorn finally was too weak to get up again. He writhed on the ground for a while, kicking and thrashing, splitting the air with his blood-stained horn. Mauja didn't know if he should pity him, laugh at him, or just be thankful that he got away with a small cut on his shoulder and nothing more serious. Surely Kou would hanf him if he got into fights... But at least no one could construe this as being part of a grand master plan to take over Helovia. It was a unicorn lying unconscious a few yards away, Mauja's blood on his horn. For several minutes the King remained motionless, debating what to do. Part of him was very curious about this strange creature, another part of him screamed that it was a disgrace to the race and should have its tainted blood removed - forever.

In the end, he actually went closer, peering down at the fallen form. Black, muddy, sweaty. The strange thing around its neck remained, tangled in his legs, frayed ends coming loose. It clearly wasn't a snake, nor did it smell like a plant, so Mauja came to the conclusion that he had not a single bloody clue what it was. It didn't seem alive, at least. For being so aggressive when awake, the unconscious unicorn seemed nearly peaceful like this; sides rising and falling steadily, face relaxed, eyes closed. Curiosity won out, and the King picked up the strange rope in his mouth, closing grass-stained teeth around it. He'd seen how the black beast had tripped on it earlier, and if he began flailing again, Mauja could just give it a tug and leave him stumbling.. hopefully. It was the plan at least. With the rope secured firmly in his mouth he threw a glance at the sky, then resigned himself to waiting. He cocked one hip and leaned the hind hoof on its tip, and lowered his head - but his eyes, they never left Monster's body, looking for the barest hint that his captive was waking up.
angels, they fell first, but I'm still here
